"We stayed here for one night before crossing into Laos. You couldn't ask for more for 250 Baht total for two people. They provide a fan and and mosquito net which was just fine. The bathroom is a bit of an adventure since it's a covered outdoor shower. This might scare you but we really enjoyed it. They have a swimming pool but we decided not to use it due to a very strong chemical smell coming from it. Although they have their own restaurant it might be better to seek out other restaurant options. The food wasn't the best. The room was comfortable enough and good for an overnight stay."

"Hotel locates among the peaceful atmosphere and the Khong River view. I recommended you to book the river view so you can enjoy the best view from your terrace. We stayed in the room with a garden view 'cz the room with river view are fully booked at that time. However we still can see the river from our terrace aswell. The room is well decorated, spotless and free wifi. Furthermore, garden is well look after by the hotel. You would feel very relaxing here. The hotel has the terrace by the river for the guests to chill & hang out, which is a plus. Food was excellent as well as the service. Staffs are lovely and very supportive. The hotel also offered to drop you off at the pier if you want to across to Laos border. We enjoy our stayed and will definitely coming back with our family. I wish, I will have more time to stay here, so I can explore Chaing Khong area a little more. "

"After 2 days of upriver cruising from Luang Prabang we arrived at Baan Sakuna which was recommended by Marc of Shompoo cruise. The minute you enter the grounds you are in an idyllic nature paradise. We were immediately welcomed by Mai, David and staff. After checking in we asked where the nearest ATM was, David volunteered to drive us a short distance away to the ATM Then drop us off at the local walking street. After returning to Baan Sakuna we had dinner which was prepared by Mai and her sister. The yellow curry was the best I’ve had so full of flavors and the pork so tender. The fresh egg rolls were full of fresh crisp veggies with bits of crunchy pork and a peanut dipping sauce. In the morning as we were sipping on our coffee David invited us to walk around the garden which is a work of art in itself. It consisted of gorgeous foliage, ponds, stone walkways, with pieces of antique wooden yard art strategically placed about. Mai had ordered us a tuk tuk the night before to bring us to the bus station so we said our goodbyes. We left Baan Sakuna with smiles on our faces and open hearts knowing that we will return in the near future. Thank you Mai, David and staff. Rodney and Sue"

"I had booked two nights at Baan Fai Guesthouse. A simple room with fan had everything that I needed. The layout of the house is really nice, lots of wood. Room and common facilities were spotlessly clean and people were extremely friendly and helpful. I used one of their bikes to ride a little Mekong upstream, and to explore the Chiang Khong hinterland, lush green farmland. I also had breakfast at the guesthouse one morning. It did quite surprise me to see Vietnamese breakfast, the kind I knew from Chantaburi. Delicious!"

"We stayed for one night in a double room with a balcony and we wish we could’ve stayed longer but had to catch the slow boat to Laos. Pros - huge room, big comfy bed, big balcony with fantastic views over the Mekong River, room service (recommend the Korean chicken and rice), powerful shower, lovely fresh decor, bedding was crisp, extremely clean, across road from best bar in town, friendly staff with great advice and tips. Cons - the water in the shower wasn’t hot and after a night of air con it wasn’t nice to shower in cold water, we had a bit of a delay waiting for breakfast but the owners did explain that someone had called in sick (hey we’ve all worked in hospitality, we get it) We even booked a ride to the border with the hostel for 160TBH for 2 people. They had options of booking the slow boat package but we opted to do it ourselves and save money and tbh it was easy to do. Thanks very much! "

"I booked a “Standard Room” on the ground floor for one night before heading down river. At 800B, I felt it was a very good value. The room was not in any way stylish, but was clean and comfortable, with large bed, desk, fridge, old style TV, wardrobe, and balcony overlooking the river. Bathroom had hot water, provided basic shampoo and soaps. In the morning we were offered brewed coffee and tea with fruit, toast, and tasty local treats. The grounds are very pretty, loaded with flowers and well maintained. Location is a bit to the north side of town, but there are a few restaurants and coffee houses within easy walking distance, and being right on the river was fantastic. Very quiet at night. The best thing about this hotel is the owners. They speak perfect English and helped to book my boat trip. They even provided Laos immigration forms. In summary, this is a very well managed hotel with a great view of the river and a good price tag."

Owner had experienced with customers from different culture and understand on sensitivity for each customer which really value added to stay and I would recommend thise who travel solo or couple. However human will never perfect and kindly approach owner if you have any concerns or ask and he will help and fulfill it at his best. I like simple dinner that they prepared for me with just vege dipping with Laotion style chilli paste. Great taste of Chicken in coconut milk serve with hot rice. Thank you and love it."

"Highly recommended for slow boat travelers. I'd quickly booked this place during my 2nd day on the boat because although it wasn't in the city center the reviews were amazing. It was also conveniently located close to the bridge and the owner picks and drops you off (bridge-bus station or vice versa), so I booked a night. I ended up staying more because I found her place so comfortable like my home. It is out in the fields with no quick access to shops, etc., but because of this it is so peaceful. The owner is so giving and gracious and certainly a character! She made me cry (literally) and laugh. She took care of me like a younger sister and I am very thankful. Bicycles are offered for free and her homemade food is delicious! (Better than much of the touristy Thai food I had in Phuket/Bangkok.) I found it so comfortable here that I extended my stay when it was supposed to be just 1 night then off to Chiang Rai. If you want to experience true Thai hospitality, please pay a visit!"
