Wanaka hotels & places to stay

Edgewater is the most beautiful hotel we stayed in New Zealand, Situated conveniently around Lake Wanaka it has one of the best facilities to vouch for. The lakeside room have specatacular view of lake and the balcony opens up into the garden area around the lake. The rooms are big and spacious with great kitchen, dining and sitting area. The service is prompt and we had the most amazing time at this hotel

This is the best motel we stayed during our whole 2 weeks' visit in south island, NZ. The living room, kitchen, and dining room is very spacious, which is very good for family time during the nights. Also, the rooms are clean and spacious, there is swimming pools, tennis courts, and gyms available in the motel! The motel is about 5 minutes' drive to town centre, which is not bad considering most people will rent a car for travelling in NZ. Wanaka itself is also a very nice town, will definitely recommend this place to all and stay here again if visit Wanaka next time.

Loved our stay here at the Wanaka Hotel although it was just a night stay. The room was clean and cozy and I could step out of our room to an amazing view of Wanaka town. Everything was just within our walking distance and we decided to take a cool, breezy stroll along the main street. Parking is convenient as well. Not exactly the cheapest place but it was well worth it. :)

This motel was perfect. I stayed three nights and wished I had stayed longer. Side note-if you've never been to Wanaka, it deserves much more than the one night most people book. The town is great, there is a beautiful lake only a five minutes walk from the motel and amazing hiking nearby. Derek and his partner went above and beyond to make sure that I had everything I needed. I was given a lot of information on things to do in the area and was even offered a ride to one of the hiking paths. The room itself had everything I needed, including a kitchen with all needed utensils and cookware, great wifi connection and a giant tv which tempted me to stay in the room all day. If I didn't love Wanaka so much, it may have worked. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Wanaka.

Enjoyed the comfort and lay-back style of the hostel. Extremely well run. And the hygiene (particularly of the kitchen)was extremely regular and first rate (provision of continuous supply of fresh tea towels - a blessing!). My rating overall : 9.5 out of 10. One comment I need to make is in relation to dormatory windows (the metal arm holding the window in a fixed position could be classified as a danger; they are at eye level, and could constitute a safety hazard (eyes). Please see what alternative you could introduce! The dining room, I found to be a little congested (an extension, I feel, could be of great advantage with the high visitation rate of your Hostel!). The only single (personal) negative - was that someone saw fit to steal my new pair of 'Asic' running shoes !!!!!!! I (and my family) look forward to a return visit to Lake Wanaka in the relative near future. Wishing Management and Staff the very best; and I thank you for your hospitality.

Motel is located along the highway into Wanaka from Cardrona. Drive into wanaka takes only 5 mins. Quiet though close proximity to main road. A couple of nice restaurants around the area within walking distance. Room was kept immaculately clean and tidy everyday with everything kept back to its original place. Washer and dryer are coin-operated in the laundry room. Matt at the recep was extremely helpful, recommending places to go, providing updates on the weather, changing coins, etc. Highly recommended!

Highly recomend it, we enjoyed our stay in the motel, great large studio room with lovely little kitchennet and good size bathroom. Rooms were cleaned and given freash towels on daily. Its a Polish family run motel, can't beet it, very welcoming and warm. This motel is in the absolutely best location close by to lake Wanaka, shops and even supermarket across the road.

Stayed here 1 night for holiday. I really regret it because Wanaka so beautiful you need at least 2 nights to get around it. Lakeview motel is a lovely place to stay in Wanaka. Its got a nice view to Lake Wanaka, and morning time.... the view is just mesmerizing. Really wished to stay longer. The room is spacious, adequate heating and just lovely and clean. I travel 15 days in South Island, and I would considered my stay here is the best value for money. The location is just 1.8km downhill walk from city center. Absolutely lovely place to stay.

we very much enjoyed our stay at the bella vista in wanaka. it is only 1 block away from lake wanaka. the owner is super nice and informative. he gave us tons of free guides, maps, and advice, in addition to a room on the 2nd level with amazing views of the lake and mountains! definitely would stay here again. very clean and cozy, and comes with a fridge, tv, kettle, and basic kitchen utensils.

This two bedrooms apt we stayed in was big, clean and fully equipped. The heater (only one aircon unit in the hall for such a spacious room) is not good enough to heat up the whole space in winter. There wasn't any portable heater like the other motels/Apt and four of us ended wearing our thermal suits to sleep for 2 nights. The water heater was good for 2 showers and come to third person was lukewarm and I happened to be the last one gotten only cold spring water for shower. There was a washing machine and a dryer in the bathroom but there was no washing powder. :-( I will try another motel if I ever come to Wanaka again.

This hostel got really nice staff so helpful and always got smile on them face, when I stayed there got the problem is heater doesn’t work but they gave me discount 20% for responsibilities, kitchen so clean and big, have tv room and the best thing is behide os hostel have supermarket so super comfy to find some food also the hostel nearly wanaka tree as well. So Awesome of everything. Recommended!!!

My partner and I recently stayed here and had a great stay, if we come back to Wanaka i would love to rebook here again :) The staff were very friendly and even drove my partner to a wedding in town the morning of a wedding I was bridesmaid in, instead of catching a cab! Service was fantastic!! The beds were very comfortable, and the room in general was very clean and looked recently renovated. Generous servings of Tea, Coffee and Hot Chocolate (much to my partners delight) were provided :) WIFI with a capped limit was supplied (which we didn't even use all of). No negative comments come to mind when reviewing this motel, the only slight downside is that the location is out of town and a 10 - 15min walk to town....we didnt mind at all, was a nice walk!! However i would suggest catching a cab on your arrival with luggage, that was a tad painful to walk up a hill with heavy bags...but that was our mistake! BUT on a positive this ensures the motel is VERY quite and in a lovely well maintained suburban street :)

Lakeside apartment is the best stay during my trip in NZ. Great lakeview, town centre and lake just steps away from the apartment. The apartment is huge and clean. Too bad that we only stay 1 night in Wanaka, would have to stay more nights to use the kitchen facilities. Staffs are very lovely and helpful. There is also a tablet in the concierge for you to book tour. Websites is pre-opened for you to browse. Overall, best hotel I stayed so far.

As soon as we arrived at the holiday park to check-in, the friendly staff told us that we had been upgraded for free (BONUS!). We were shown to our room which was a little old but very clean and well prepared. Our kitchenette came with a fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and plenty of utensils, crockery, cutlery and even a pyrex dish for the microwave. Under the kitchen cupboard was also washing up liquid, a cloth and washing sponge along with two tea towels oh and a small dining table and three chairs were also provided. The room did feel a little cold to us at night so we just plugged in the oil heater which worked a treat. Our room had an extra single bed (which we did not use) but a helpful place to put our two large rucksacks, rather than keep tripping over them on the floor. All in all - in terms of "bang for your buck" this is place to come in Wanaka. Amazing service, nice rooms, good facilities and all with a great view over Wanaka!

We arrived late at the hotel (around midnight) but the hotel left us a clear note for the room check-in which was great. The room itself was very cosy, modern and comfortable - we were very pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. The hotel is walk-able distance from the main street and is right across from the lake Wanaka! The best part of the hotel is the staff who are extremely nice and helpful. I would definitely stay here again if I went back to Wanaka!

We enjoyed our stay immensely. We found Chris and Lin to be great hosts. The breakfast was amazing. Not sure what time Lin rose, but there was freshly baked bread and muffins from the oven when we arrived at the breakfast table, along with delicious seasonal fruit from Cromwell. The friendliness - the invite to watch the Australian Open, and the return visit to retrieve a lost earring, with complementary afternoon tea before we set off on our way, all added to our pleasant experience.

I have been to few Wyndham's and finding one at Wanaka was a nice surprise, much like the small resort town of Wanaka itself, its like a hidden treasure . The rooms were spacious, well managed and clean. The rooms were equipped with everything that one can imagine that is requiruired for a stay. The staff was outstanding . Special mention to the lady at the front desk and the bartender - Bruno (if I recollect his name correctly). They are knowledgeable about the place and take a lot of pride in the work that theydo & the city that they represent. The bar didnt have meny options but for what they offer, they do it well. I had a vegetarian pizza along with my drinks and it was fantastic. Its a pity that I took Wanaka as a stopover and could not spend more than a day here. But If I would ever come to this town again, there is no doubt in my mind that I am heading to Wyndham.

Simply divine! This was by far the best accommodations we experienced in our 10 days of travel throughout the South Island. We tried many different types including an upscale B&B, motels, a private farm house etc. but the Wanaka Luxury Apartment was our favorite. It truly is luxurious and excellent value for the money. We were so pleased with the arrangement (and there was so much to see and do in Wanaka) that we extended another night and are happy that we did so,

Thanks to both staff who went well and above the managers duties whilst we stayed at the clearbrook nothing was too much bother. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. High on my list when traveling is the beds and you really couldn't complain, the short stroll into town made this accommodation very appealing not to mention the amazing views of the mountains. Overall a great stay in Wanaka
