Very quiet and clean resort. Morning breakfast was a variety of Thai hot food as well as cereals and fruit. The restaurant had friendly and helpful staff and the menu was very simply priced, with most items being priced at a very reasonable 100baht. The deluxe villa was spacious with a huge bed and the wet room had a huge double ended bath. Huge swimming pool and children area. Everything is clean. If you seek a quiet holiday this is it. No walking street, no bars, no shops not even a 7/11. Only 2 minor criticism, there are no international power outlets in the rooms and the WiFi is not password protected. (use a VPN). We come from Koh Samui, a beautiful but commercialized and busy island, so we appreciated the tranquility this island and resort offered.

To get to Kho Koh Khao need a short ride with a ferry from Baan Nam Khem pier to the island took 10 minutes but waiting for ferry to departure can take a while. After getting on the island drove through a quiet village and green surroundings about 15 minutes it's The Sunset Beach Resort. Lobby on the 1st floor over looking swimming pool and well kept garden was nice welcoming. Room on the ground fl. of the hotel building was large, good bed, large terrace with can get out walking to the pool and beach easily. Bathroom was big, had a big bathtub and shower separated without shower curtain. It's wet everywhere after using it. Hotel had large area, some bungalows, 2 big swimming pools connected, sunbeds, coconut trees, children playground The restaurant offerred good and reasonable price food. Eating out once at a recommended local seafood restaurant, we found food price on the island can be pricey. There's a mini shop to get small things like sun cream, snack or beers. Staff were very nice, very polite and helpful. The beach was such a beautiful. Large, long beach, fine sand, shallow water and very very quiet. Sunset was amazing.

We left Ao Nong beach and wanted to get away from the over crowded hustle. I booked this not knowing it was an island that would require a ferry ride ( ferry trips are approximately every 2 hours from 830-430pm and take about 10 minutes). We got to the hotel about 3pm and was a little concerned because it was very quiet. We checked into our very large 50+sqm rooms and got settled. We went to dinner about 6pm at the restaurant in the hotel serving Thai and western foods with the most beautiful sunset you can imagine. Breakfast in the morning is very good bring your own coffee machine if you want anything more than instant. The beach is empty every morning we walked 5 k and only saw 2-3 people in 4 days ! This is not for the party crowd but for those that want a private almost deserted island feeling so peaceful and the staff is so nice Food is good but not fancy and not expensive so you never have to leave the hotel We will return to this property again for as long as I live in Thailand.

Too quiet for our family”
First off, the hotel and the staff are absolutely lovely. Our villa was beautiful, everything was spotlessly clean, they were super helpful with everything. It was just too quiet of a location for us. The hotel is located on a 9km beach on the West Side of Koh Kho Khao. The hotel features hotel rooms and individual villas. We chose a family villa which was more than big enough for our family of three. There was a small onsite shop, which was not expensive and was advertised in the directory as being open 9am till 9pm, but on the shop door it said open until 5pm. There is a large swimming pool, again spotlessly clean, but only open until 6pm for some reason. There is an onsite restaurant, which was reasonably priced, but we did not enjoy the food sadly. It was also so quiet and sterile, with no vibe to it whatsoever We walked about 15 minutes along the beach to Hapla Beach Cottages later in the day and enjoyed a lovely meal and the place had a great ambience. We have been to quieter resorts in Thailand on our travels, but never anywhere as quiet as this. We decided to check out the day after we arrived and head to somewhere a little livelier. For us, they really need to invest in some kind of beach bar/restaurant kind of feel for it to be attractive to our famiy, whereas I can totally imagine that many people love the place just as it is.
