Living with the animal kingdom”
This resort is the epicenter of Malaysian jungle life and a most encouraging effort to save its most precious inhabitants ! Just a few minutes away are the Orang utan and Sun Bear conservation centers which are jaw dropping opportunities to view these beautiful animals as they are supported to re-enter the homes they were originally taken from... The resort is also a place to experience wildlife... we had an orang utan visit us on our balcony and saw a hornbill fly by at the same time !!! The eating experience was a perfect mix of classic Malaysian cuisine and western comfort foods - all prepared beautifully and delivered by the smiling and attentive staff. Our bungalow was a level of convenience and simple elegance we rarely find - with a most exceptional shower experience. We could not have been any happier with the value Sepilok Nature Resort afforded.

PHENOMENAL”
Location of the hotel was excellent. Less than 5 minutes walk to Orang Utan Centre, Rainforest Discovery Center & SunBear Conservation Centre. Resort deals doesn't come with breakfast, hence it was ala-carte. We had some meals at the resort restaurant and it was delicious. Food was served in 10 minutes even during peak hours. The rooms were spacious (too much space in-fact as the top attic was just sofas, fridge & tables. Anyway, we liked it. The rooms were clean, I can see that the resort put in lots of effort in ensuring that the furnitures are all coloured themed. Even the television was painted orange. Good selections of bathroom amenities. Staffs were friendly and for the price I have paid, this hotel deserved 5 stars rating. Will definitely return to this hotel as it is well tucked in the nature. Good to wake up to the sound of hornbills and macques. Downside, 30 minutes drive to Sandakan town though.

Best Resort I've Ever Been To”
The Nature Resort should be your only choice. We stayed elsewhere on our way back through Sepilok after our river trip after booking on advance. We wish we hadn't. From the staff which was super nice and friendly from the food and bev guys and gals, to the check in and check out, they were always smoking and helpful. The main lodge area, wow. It's on a lake so there are some bugs, but it's not dirty or gross, it's more sublime than anything else. The surroundings are spectacularly gorgeous. Our bungalow was on the river literally right next to the orangutan sanctuary. I wish I could live here it was so amazing!! Again, it's in the jungle. We had a gecko on our bed when we got back from dinner, one we had never seen before! Best place ever.

The beat”
The orangutan are national treasures and so is sepilok nature resort. Either the people of Borneo or the Malaysian government should buy back this wonderful resort from the foreign owners. This place is something the Malaysian people should be proud of

If you are thinking of booking, do it!”
Next door to the wildlife reserve it is possible to see orangutans in the resort (though chances are low). You will hear them calling along with other animals. It’s a beautiful resort the is recommended for mid-high budget adventure tourists, couples and honeymooners. Pros: beautiful rooms, good service, epic chill out restaurant/lounge. Best location for the Orangutan re-habilitation center. Cons: expensive (but expected), mosquitos in the early evening (expected), restaurant is ok, not amazing.

A wonderful, peaceful haven”
The setting is stunning, overlooking a large lake abundant with wildlife. The accomodation is weaved through the jungle across wooden walkways where you could while away hours watching birds, lizards and frogs. We stayed in a large lodge at the furthest end of the resort with seating and hammock on our porch, which was idyllic. The restaurant food was delicious and a preferential seating area with good wifi was welcomed. We went on a night walk with Sonny which was brilliant, seeing a Slow Lauris high in the trees as well as a rhinoceros hornbill, frogs and insects galore. Ideal location for orangutans too. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Exceeded our expectations ”
In short we loved it. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Restaurant food was good and reasonably priced. The jungle setting was incredible. We spotted an orangutan in a palm tree while sipping on a drink in the restaurant after our days activities. The large open air restaurant and sitting area was very nice. Our room was spacious with high ceiling, wood floors, large bathroom, mini fridge, very comfortable bed, sitting chairs. From the veranda we sat and listened to the sounds of the jungle at night. The only negative was that there was maintenance /renovation of some of the bungalows ongoing at the time of our visit and the constant movement of workers in front of our bungalow distracted from the experience. Workers even were on our veranda taking the bench and table away to be refinished. The staff promptly moved us to another room when we complained.

beautiful resort.”
The whole resort is simply beautiful. The bungalows are stunning and the restaraunt/common areas are very well designed. The staff were always smiling and helpful which makes a big difference. We did a few tours with Sonny as our guide and he helped to make it a special experience with his knowledge and attitude. The location is spot on. next door to the orangutan and sun bear sanctuarys, it was simply a case of walking out the gates and heading down the road. The food was always nicely presented and tasted great, portions were a good size.

Costs more than other options, but absolutely worth it!”
It's a bit expensive compared to other deals in the area, but it's worth every bit! The staff is super friendly, the rooms are huge, comfortable and clean, the bed is superb and the food was amazing! Also, it's a very short walk to the Orangutan Sanctuary (closest accommodation actually). I would recommend this to anyone and would stay there again without hesitation!

Wonderful ”
Stayed for 3D2N - absolutely wonderful trip. The staff were well informed and generous with their knowledge. And really good fun. Incredible ability to spot wildlife too which the jungle was full of. I learnt a lot from the guides and enjoyed a cold beer or two at the lodge. Very slick organisation and really nice lodging. The new villas look pretty special! Highly recommend.

A great experience. Amazing place next to orangutans and sun-bears. A bit pricey. ”
Great location abd very friendly helpful staff. Boat trip expensive and long car journey but fabulous sightings of animals in the wild. Only criticism is that food/drink expensive as you have nowhere else to eat. Whole place closes down at 10pm and too far to go anywhere else without a taxi . Excellent for short stay, great experience.

Great for nature lovers ”
Great location with easy walking distance to orangutans and sun bears. Also a 20 minute walk to the Rainforest Discovery Centre. But no real choice of places to eat other than the resort; although well presented and cooked (Asian dishes), it was expensive.

Exceptional”
The resort is a quiet and serene. Cabin is spacious, clean and comfortable. Just slightly dimmed. I spent most of time lying at hammock outside looking at nature right in front of me. Forget musics because sounds of nature is definitely it. Totally recommends for people who want a quiet retreat.

Fabulous in every way, we knew it would be good, but exceeded our expectations.”
The setting is amazing. So peaceful and serene. The chalets are spotless and have everything you could need. Staff are fabulous and cater to your every need. We even had a few naughty monkeys trying their luck. It all made for a superb stay.

Nice chalet”
The chalet is nice (2 storeys). It is about 5-8 minutes walk away from the reception. Good to keep the luggage light as it is not advisable to pull the luggage on the stoney road (unless you want to sacrifice the wheels of the luggage) and the resort staff does not help to carry the luggage. Resort is at walking distance away from the Sun Bear Research Ctr and Orang Utan Rehab Ctr.
