Wijay @ Sarong hostel had been great help in everything. He knows in and out about Langkawi. He provided everything I needed. Sarong is the best place to meet other travellers sharing same interests. Wijay is an amazing and charming person to talk to. He's funny and keeps the atmosphere at sarong very jolly.

I had a great experience stayed at Sarong. Once I reached there, Wijay already sitting there and welcome me~ after intro me the environment, he had prepared a map for me and written some info into the map. It's so sweet for me~ Wijay is a awesome backpacker. He is like sharing travel experience and knowledge. You will not regret choosing Sarong and met some new friends too.

Great owner that go extra miles”

One of the most friendly owner ever for backpacker hostel and you will meet with various travellers as well. You will get the experience the lifestyle of living in similar village in many Malaysia villages, especially good if you want to experience some of this experience and definitely the owner will help you out if you have any enquiry. However do bring along earplug if you are sensitive of noise because the mosque nearby as you know had some weird time of praying and might waken you up. Overall will definitely recommend this hostel to others friends of mine and sure to come back for the hospitality.

Clean, comfortable and friendly staff/owner”

We stayed at Sarong Hostel for two nights. The facilities are clean and have a good quality standard (AC and fan, nice showers). I never slept that well in a hostel before. Also, staff and owner are very helpful to explain the major sights on the island as well as bringing us to tour meetingpoints and the jetty. I can recommend the "island hopping" tour! The hostel is in Kuala Teriang, so best is to take taxis or motorbikes to get to the top sights. A place to rent bikes or bycicles is in about 5 minutes walking distance. If you are sensitive to noise, earplugs might be good to bring, but I would recommend that for every hostel. All in all, we are absolutely happy with our stay and will for sure come back if we get back to Langkawi!

It was nice. It is cheap as hell. Very basic, but you get what you pay for. We were invited to dinner one evening by Wijay the owner. Good food and friendly atmosphere.

Countryside with mountain view”

Pleasant stay for 3 nights. Wake up to mountain view, rooster crow and cows nearby field. The guesthouse is a simple house in local neighborhood with 3 rooms - dorm(bunk or single bed)with a/c and fan!,comfortable mattress, shared bathrooms and toilet, comfy daybed at living room and wifi! Walking distance to local stall/restaurant, laundrette and sundries shop. Owner is a friendly chap and stay in the guesthouse.

Very nice place. You really get that welcoming feeling. It's a simple place where you have all you need and the personal are very helpful and nice. I totally recommend this place! I really don't think you'll regret it.
