Best hotels & accommodations in Khao Lak

Location of Khao Lak is a bit out of the way - it is about 100 kms to the north (on the mainland) from Phuket Airport. Currently taxi operators charge around 1600 baht to get you to Khao Lak. Return trip is 2000 baht ex the hotel. The resort itself is at the end of the "strip" of shops/restaurants etc. that make up the township of Khao Lak, and is well signposted. ...

The location of this resort is great. Fantastic beach, close to the two main areas in Khao Lak but still keeping it private and quiet. The family room is great with its double rooms makes it ideal for families with little kids who want to have some space. Our girls loved to have their own space too and had all their toys and books in the second room. Things that can b...

I stayed at Apsaras toward the end of the quiet season and where other resorts close their beach bars, restaurants etc, Apsaras were still fully open. The real winner with this resort is the staff. They are so friendly and always on hand to help. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The restaurants have a good selection of food from traditional Thai to Western dishes. ...

We went to vacation at this hotel in Khao Lak and had a blast. The room was so clean and spacious. Great housekeeping services, spreading of flower petals around the bed on the second day. Love it!! Eat-all-you-can breakfast and have plenty choices of it. Definitely recommend to friends and families and will come back again if I visit to Khao Lak. We had a great t...

I must admit when looking to book this hotel I wondered why there were not many reviews. After recently staying here over xmas week I now know why. I think guests want to keep this amazing resort underwraps! If your looking for a serene, peaceful holiday on stunning grounds and want to get away from touristy Khao Lak than this is your place. The resort was amazing! ...

Sensimar is a nice hotel with 4+ star facilities and a great staff. But you should be aware that it is not an independent hotel but rather part of a German chain based in Hanover Germany. It is a high volume tourist mill filled with middle aged tourists most of whom are there on package tours. We were there at the end of the season and it was still very full. Bre...

We stayed there 6 days at the end of October 2010. The hotel has a very special and relaxing atmosphere, 2 minutes to the beach and 15 min walk to the center. The staff is mostly English speaking and very helpful. The breakfast is simply best ever. I would recommend it to everyone who wants to spend a couple of days in peace and relaxed. Diving to the Similan is very...

We stayed for 9 nights, our room was very spacious and clean. You can tell the hotel has been revamped recently, but they put a lot of effort in it. Our room was in the main building, facing the pool and featuring a large balcony with additional racks to hang wet clothes and towels (pool/beach towels were provided). Breakfast was simple, but enough and tasty (mix of c...

This was our 4th stay at the Manathai Khao Lak. We live in Phuket and like to spend the weekend in Khao Lak a couple of times a year. After trying many hotels in the area we now keep on coming back to the Manathai. Great quiet location. We have our own car and spend most of the time relaxing in the hotel anyway so we like being outside of the main tourist area. The poo...

on arrival we were greeted with smiles and a welcome drink. our room was very comfortable with a great bed. the resort has been well cared for and the grounds are well maintained. we received a free 15 minute massage treatment at their highly awarded spa...very nice. all other spa treatments seemed great, but too costly. khao lak is a short taxi ride away for about...

khaolak emerald beach resort & spa is located in khao lak on the private beach of khao lak phang-nga facing the andaman sea. we booked “superior garden view room” (upgraded to “grand family room”) for total and stayed there with my family for 3 nights during my business trip on congress being held in same resort. it is ideal retreat for older couples and families with ...

I have stayed in other 5 star hotels in Khao Lak and Sentido is right up there. Its a bit far from the town in case you need to escape the hotel but you can rent a scooter for BHT300 which solves this problem. Do not hestitate to stay at the Sentido you wont be dissapointed! One of my top 10 hotels.

I picked up this hotel because it looked stylish and it did stands true to its reputation. Finding the true entrance at the back of the hotel is a little tricky for taxi coming from outside Khao Lak but it's only a matter of asking. The location is great, close to restaurants and a 5 mins walk to the beach. The rooms are spacious and with a large balcony. There is ...

We stay after 2 years again, in the JW Marriott and we would recomend it everytime again. We stay this time 4 weeks in different Hotels in Khao Lak ( Katilia - JW Marriot - Mukdara) but the best is JW Marriott, even the expensiest one! The BEST Breakfast wich we had in Thailand is in JW Marriot and believe me, we try a lot of Hotels in Thailand because we travel a lo...

The hardest reviews to write are the ones for hotels that were everything you could have wanted and more. Purely because adjectives to describe perfection are limited and overused. This is precisely the case with C&N Resort. In all my travels throughout Thailand this was the one destination I had not planned to go to. It was a mistake, but one I have had the luck to be...

Best beach in Khao Lak without a doubt ! It may be a short ride into town, but what is really in Khao Lak town ?? Not much that we were interested in ! The night market is in Bang Nieng (excuse the spelling) which isn't far and a great place to visit, but I wouldn't want to stay there, Kantary was just brilliant ! to be honest, it is a bit rough around the edges, it is...

This small resort is situated in a beautiful and well-kept garden close to a quiet, dead-end street parallel to the beach. Take a few steps around the corner, and you are in the middle of everything in Khao Lak. G&N opened in November 2012. It is spotless, clean, well-run and has a quiet and laid-back familiar atmosphere. The bungalows are somewhat basic, but clean...

We took a normal double room and we got upgraded to a pool villa and it was so nice! The room was full of little details and it was just awesome to have a pool only for us... Altough jacuzzi in the pool was "broken" (or they were just too lazy to turned it on). The bathroom is huge, full of light, there is a bath and two showers: an indoor and an outdoor one, which is ...

The facility was nice. Khao Lak itself is not fully ready for prime time. The roads are narrow and have a lot of potholes so driving is a bit difficult. The outside restaurants are hit or miss, but we had a nice dinner at the Steak Night Grill afterwards at Chongfah. The units directly on the waterfront are particularly desirable

We stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of the low season so it was pretty quiet but that suited us perfectly, It is in a quiet location out of Khao Lak anyway. There are lots of nice beaches close by. Better if you have your own transport but there are bicycles as well. Nice included breakfast and the pools are big and clean. Big rooms with balconies and comfy be...

we had a wery nice stay at the kib, after tre days in kata/karon area we traveled up to khao lak and to the kib, witch is on a small island abot 20 mins.from khao lak. it's a realy nice hotel with great pools and a lovely beach without to many people and lots of spase ;) if you're intersted in loud city life this is not for you, but if you're loking for total relaxati...

This hotel is no doubt the best in Khao Lak! The hotel is new and rooms is very big and of a high standard. The location of the hotel is also perfect if you are seeking peace and tranquility. The hotel is located with no hotels or restaurants near by so the scenery is very quite. The hotel lies directly by the beach. So the breakfast is eaten while looking at the beaut...

If you are looking for a quiet decadent escape then The Sarojin in the place for you. The resort is a paradise in the rainforest of Khao Lak, where your every need is taken care of. The staff are the heart of the resort and are the most beautiful, kind and welcoming locals. The resort offers the highest quality in residences, restaurants and service. Simply put this re...

Spent 5 nights wish we could have stayed more, hotel is fantastic great location right on beach lovely pools,we booked pool access rooms, on arrival the staff informed us that they had a large corporate booking so might be little bit noisy, so they suggested we move to garden view room closer to beach, room which was every bit as nice as pool access, and was very quit...

My review is for the low season only as I feel it may be very crowded in the restaurant in the high season. We booked in here at the last minute and what a wonderful surprise with private garden pool villa and all meals included with free flow wine The buffet was excellent every night with varied selections and friendly, helpful staff on hand at all times. Even ...

This resort has the best beach access on Khao Lak. We had a beach view villa that was the height of luxury with the layout, furnishings and view. The staff here gives outstanding service. They helped us get a reservation mistake that we had made fixed. Also got an Indian Motorcycle Thailand shirt from the Manager.

We spent 4 nights here in Feb/March 2019 and I wish it had been longer. What a fabulous spot on a long stretch of deserted sand with stunning sunsets. Our room was a twin, 2 double beds, the most comfortable I’ve slept in this trip! Lovely big room, teak floor, lots of cupboard and drawer space, big bathroom, seating area, desk and large patio overlooking the garden. I...

great resort. the owners had thought of everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. staff very friendly. accommodation is excellent-really nice outdoor shower. Free bikes to cycle around the resort and to their private beach -5 minutes cycle max. The beach is long, follows the coast - you can walk down it and not see anyone. would definitely visit again. N...
Cheapest hotels in Khao Lak

We spend 7 days, it's not easy to find good place in Khao lak, nice beaches are in diferent places and taxi is super expensive, the best option is to have a scooter, but if you don't have this possibility and you don't want to spend to much money and sleep in beach resort, this area it's really good From this place 3 min and you will find a lot of cheap restaurants an...

I stayed in the Fasai House in December 2014 for five nights and loved it - the rooms are cozy and air conditioned, the bed is comfortable and the shower has warm, running water. It is not a five-star resort, but you get a clean and comfortable room that is much better than the two stars the hotel gives itself. Fasai House is located 100 m off the main road in Khao lak...

I really like this hotel. It is centrally positioned in a very quiet location just off the main road running through Khao Lak. It has about 10 to 15 smaller rooms and 12 larger villas set in lovely large nature garden of 3 or 4 acres, and a very nice swimming pool with shade.. The hosts are really helpful and attentive. Breakfast is basic but fine. Everything ...

They offer very nice bungalows in a idyllic garden in a short walking distance to the beach and the touristy streets, but are very quiet. The staff is nice, helpful and can organize tours and airport transfer (1200 THB for two). Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Summer House 2 is the newer of the 2 Summer House Hotel in The Bang Niang Beach area of Khao Lak. The rooms are a good size with big beds and modern Bathroom. Very clean and the room is serviced daily. The pool is beautiful and again well maintained. Staff are friendly and will help with any tour information that you are after. The hotel is a 2 minute walk to the bea...

A nice find. With kitchen/ sitting area as well as bedroom gave us lots of room to spread out. Chairs on balcony as well. Not to far from the beach but better to have transport. Local taxi is expensive I suppose they only get to sting you once. Ann will arrange taxi and it is better & cheaper. She also sorted a motor bike for us. We would stay again.

Great rooms that are kept very clean. Awesome pool in center courtyard. Only drawbacks are that there's no direct beach access and closest food is a short walk down the main highway. Neither of those reasons were significant deterrents for us though; we extended our stay a few nights here at The Oasis Khaolak and are happy we did.

we stayed at buppha over christmas. the staff are really friendly, the room was lovely, really clean, fridge, tv and super fast wifi. was a little out of the way so you will need transport but that can be said for most places and you will need a bike do to get around khao lak anyway as it is massive all located on and around one very long main road that runs for miles....

Our rooms were very nice and clean. For this price range, I have to say that it is difficult to find a room like this somewhere else. Hotel location is not far from Khao Lak downtown. Hotel is very small, has a little swimming pool in the middle so it could be a little bit noisy when people are playing in the pool.

Great location and great stay overall. Highly recommended to everyone. Wandee (The owner was very helpful). He was there to assist any way he can. Plus also gave us a really cheap price on the tour to Koh Tachai Island/Similan Islands compared to other companies in the area. We even extended our stay there as there was quite a few things to do in that town of Khao Lak ...

This was the best resort we stayed in our 3 week holiday and we stayed in 8 different resorts. The room is new and spacious with a large balcony with a nice view. There is a big bathroom with hot water shower. Good TV with usb function and a quiet and good working airco. But most of all the beds were the best we slept in. Nice swimmingpool were you can read a book in!...

i'm usually not that picky, but banana bungalow was not a good value. the bed was small and uncomfortable. i think there are much better values in khao lak. i was also not impressed with the village of khao lak. the restaurants were overpriced and nothing special.

Baan Chongfa is a really nice - very small - resort. It just opened 4 months ago and we were the only guests. We stayed for five days and enjoyed it immensely. Beware that the location is a few kilometers from the actual town centre. You should definately rent a couple of scooters as the taxi fares are 6 times higher in Khao Lak than in Bangkok! (One scooter at the hot...

It was a very relaxing stay after a 24 hour trip. The ladies that run the place are very nice and helpful. There are several bungalows, all of them having a large terrace with sea view. There is also a restaurant with tasty food and a small bar. The place is somewhat secluded , as it is located on Ko Kho Khao and you'll have to take a ferry or a local boat to reach the...

The resort was great, the owners of the resort were absolutelly great! They were able to provide you with lot of information, to provide you with the trip and were really nice to us. The breakfast was great. The location of the hotel is quiet. Jack was friendly, spoke excellent English, very knowlegable about the area and helped book several fun outings. The rooms wer...

Great place to stay and the Thai family who owns and run this hotel we’re extremely nice and very helpful. The bungalows were a perfect size for my wife, my 3yr old son and myself to all stay in and everything was so clean & modern. You will definitely be comfortable if you stay here while holidaying in Khao Lak and we will definitely return again in the future. Tha...

This was our second visit to Khao Lak and second stay at the Leaf. We had an upstairs chalet which we loved, because it has a gorgeous garden view. The location is very close to many shops, restaurants, travel agents all within walking distance which is important as Khao Lak is very spread out. The swimming pools never seem to be crowded and breakfast has good selecti...

We stayed for a night as wasn't sure if this is quite right for us. We ended up spending five nights before heading back home. The hotel is totally superb, clean, charming, and "home sweet home" type of thing. The staffs are friendly, helpful, and attentive. I ordered fried rice via room service which delivered to me in ten mins despite a heavy rain. I am impressed wi...

The Baan Krating resort was really something special. The resort consists of around 20-25 rooms that are located on the curve of the bay in Khao Lak. If I’m not mistaken, all rooms face towards the ocean and are nestled in the trees and back drop of Khao Lak beach. Our room had its own balcony with a table and chairs. It was really relaxing to sit out there and watch t...

Anne, who checked us in was extremely helpful and friendly. Unfortunately the room had a damp smell which took some time to get rid of - required air-conditioning to be on for quite a while. Perhaps this is a difficult problem to overcome given the climate. But again, Anne was tremendously helpful.

i had stayed at their other hotel in khao lak - morin tara which was great but far from the beach and the city. this one was a bit more expensive but closer to everything, especially the beach. i will definitely go back to khao lak and stay there again, if i can't find anything similar for cheaper price. i only have two small complaints. first there is a bit of mo...

While the Sudala was closed due to low season and few travellers, if it is anything like the Mukdara where we were upgraded to, and being the same company one would expect similarities, then it would be a beautiful place to stay. Khao Lak is a quiet coastal area and the Mukdara gave us time to unwind for 3 days in a beautiful setting before we headed onto the lovely Kh...

This facility is next to the beach, a very short walk. It is not too far from Khao Lak, but far enough to provide peace and quiet. The food was ok, good quality and good price. Breakfast was ok, nothing fancy but more than adequate. Overall, we were quite impressed and will go back again.

a bit remote location on pakarang beach in the khao lak area, but nice big and clean rooms. there were one wardrobe but no other storage space for clothes even if there plenty of space in the room for that. nice and friendly staff. we had a wheelchair and there was some obstacles that needed muscle power from more than two hands to overcome, for instance to the recepti...

We were there for a trip at National Park near there. The hotel is very cool because you booked one hotel but you can use facility of the neighbour's hotel which is from the same chain but it may be inconvenient a little bit but for me it's perfect. The staff are always pay attention to what we want. Lunch at the beach is

We had the best time here, we had 3 children from an orphanage we sponsor and they had a fantastic time. The staff were so friendly to them and went out there way to help. This has to be the best resort in Khao Lak , I know I will defiantly be back with the kids again. Thanks to everyone at Wanaburee Resort, Regards Stuart ( jimmy) 👍👍

Stayed here for 3 nights as I wanted to be close to the similan islands for a day trip. Great hotel, great location, excellent big clean pools. There is not much to do at night in khao lak but there are some nice quiet restaurants in town. The room and hotel was excellent. I would definitely recommend a day trip to similan islands.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Riverside Hotel and were impressed by much of what we saw. The hotel is owned and run by two Swiss gentlemen, Marcus and Bruno and you'd have to go a very long way to find two more hard working and hands on owners than these two. From crack of dawn and breakfast and cleaning the pool to evening time and entertaining guests Marcus...

Beautiful beachfront hotel on Koh Kho Khao. Takes about 2.5 hours to get to from Phuket airport. The ferry or long tail boat from the pier (only operates during daylight hours) takes 10 minutes. We stayed 8 nights in this fantastic beach resort to get away from the Australian winter. Our whole stay was pitch perfect. we got upgraded to a beach bungalow which was great. The Moracea is a large resort on a hillside but with direct beach access and the resort offers pick-up and drop-off to reception or any place on demand which was great as we had other couples st...
Traveler impressions of Khao Lak
Amazing place to visit, very nice and relaxed with very friendly locals and a large array of restaurants nearby serving both local and international cuisine.
nothing much going around the area, but good area for just relaxing, also for those who goes to Simillan or Surin island.
Sure a great spot for family retreat for to recharge worn out batteries, highly recommended. seeking busy nightlife and bars go to Phukhet or Phattaya.

Have been there before but didn't like it, this time however I quite enjoyed the relaxation and was happy, still need transport to get around though am lucky I have a car :-)
Lovely area, much more suited towards couples, but scuba divers should definitely go because the similian & surin islands are incredible! best diving I've ever done & I've done 50 + dives.
Khao Lak best beach is the coconut beach. White sand beach is full of expensive hotels where you can't rent chair and the waves are stronger.
The market (held Monday, Saturday and another week day) is interesting. Lots of cool Thai food and bargains to be had.
The area around Khao Lak is quite with nice beaches that arnt to bussy there are a few water falls in the area and you can easily get a speed boat out to similan islands.
We first visited Khao Lak in Feb 2004, just before the tsunami, and returned in Jan 2015. We were curious to see how things had changed in the intervening decade.
Designed to get Farangs to spend their money. You can't really blame them, either seeing as the westerners (I think mainly German and French whilst I was there) seem happy to spend their money on over inflated prices, therefore everybody else is obliged to spend over the odds too.
Don't miss a day trip to Similan or Ta Chai Island. They are gems of Thailand and close to Khao Lak main pier.
Khao Lak seems the place to be if you are plus 40 and coming from Germany, Russia or Britain. You will see too many white dudes with beer guts enjoying misserable western food while rolling on the beach.
Most places rebuilt after the 2004 Tsunami but everything still in a disorganized state. There has obviously been absolutely no planning done in laying out the town site and all the main activities are still along side of the main North/South highway.
Honestly, khao lak is more for travelers who likes to spend 70% of their time by beach or resort.. There's no shopping mall or night market like other parts of Thailand.
The tourist attraction is kinda boring compare to Phuket. Khao Lak is best for people looking for relax at the resort and beaches.
A place to go in Thailand that is peaceful and beautiful. Has everything you need just in a quitter version.
We were in the wet season so the whole place was virtually closed down. Lots of closed shops. Tours to Similian islands not running and I could go on.
the quite and small town which you can find some necessary stuff for your hotel and beach relaxation.
Better than the overdone patong karon beach stay which I did enjoy but its overun pesty hawkers with hard sell crowds .
Relaxing or adventure. It can be whatever you want it to be. Great beaches and water sports. Excellent food choices, European and Thai.
There are a few beaches and waterfalls in the area. Maybe you can rent a bike (200-300baht/day) and go around the area and explore.
Stunning area with stunning beaches. The perfect holiday if you divide you time between the craziness of Phuket (Patong, Kata etc) and the natural beauty and serenity of Khoa Lak.
En kiten stad där man kan förnöja sig med shopping och restaurang besök.Finns många småbutiker,(gott om sommarkläder) och restauranger
A really friendly town with mostly nice weather in summer has some magic attractive atmosphere. Unless it's raining the weather is nice.
The only reason to visit Khao Lak is to get to the islands for snorkeling or diving. It is not a fun spot, the beach is ok, but there are better ones on nearly any island.
This place has many nice 5 star hotels but very far from the shopping area. It would be great if you have your own transportation.
Loved it. Excellent value for money. The owner and general manager are very helpful and nice. It was a leisurely 15 minute walk to the beach with restaurants and shops along the way.
Khao Lak, not for us. It feels very "all over the place", and by this I mean you have some number of centers that are far enough apart to not walk so you have to take a cab or rent some vehicle.
Pakarang Beach is a great place to relax. Khao Lak, nice little town, near national parks and beaches.
