Where to stay in Yunnan Province
Yunnan Province hotels & accommodations

Rooms were well prepared taking into consideration of our requests ahead of our arrival. Minibar was totally complimentary and toiletries were excellent quality. Welcome drink at lobby bar and club access for teatime allowed us to relax over a cup of tea or drink while waiting for our transport to pick us up. The view at Sofitel was excellent as it was the second tall...

We stayed for only one night, check in was ok but check out took a long time. Since hotel is newly open, some of the staff seems not been trained properly, specially the receptionist. The lakeside room we stayed over looking beautiful Fuxian lake, overall we had a good stay.

I got a wonderful stay in this hotel. The staffs have a good hospitality. They try there best reach out to you. Such as Waiting us at the main gate. Tell us the place of interest. Introduce nice food around. Most important is upon arrival , they introduce us the Yunnan tea. How to make the tea. Staying there is just feel like home. The place is cosy. Especially also w...

Great facility, our room was very spacious and staffs were all so helpful. Although there was a misunderstanding in regards the shuttle bus going back to hotel from the old town, made us waited like an hour but eventually hotel sent a separate car to get us and even offered a complimentary shuttle service to the train station on the day we left. It is a little inconven...

Anyone who says a jacuzzi is not necessary at the end of the day, after trekking through the Yunnan mountains, horse riding, walking through the Gucheng, is lying! Loved it and breakfast selection is extensive and Baiyun restaurant with roast chicken and roast Yunnan duck exquisite. Staff was extra polite and try their best to communicate in English. For a better expe...

Just okay. Our room had a air conditioning problem and we slept in lukewarm conditions, not very comfortable especially with thick comforters. The bathtub also had a problem draining, at least the help came quickly. But all he did was pull out the stopper and told us curtly not to put it back in, leaving a gaping drainage hole. The room furnishings were quite worn as w...

Excellent and pleasant hotel to stay. Chef staff Jay, Super and Chris have all gone out their way to assist us. We value a lot their dedication ! We tried the Chinese restaurant, the food is outstanding, enjoyed troumendously. The different treatments in the Spa worth trying. Lisa and another massage lady did a very good job. All in all , had a good stay and already bo...

This is one of the best hostels I have been to. Nice rooms with Yunnan style decor. It's 5 minutes away from the incredibly busy streets of the city center in Dali, so to me, this is a perfect location as it's really quiet but you can get down to the action whenever you want to. The best thing from the hotel is the wonderful staff: young friendly girls who all speak En...

I had roughly planned my holiday in Yunnan -- fly into Lijiang and then get an overnight train to Kunming and a bus to the Honghe. But within minutes of my arrival, the plan fell to pieces -- the train tickets were all sold out! So I went to the hotel -- which I must admit is not easy to find because it's tucked in a alleyway near the north gate of the ancient city, no...

Hotel nicely located by Kunming South Railway Station, less than 15 minutes away by taxi cab. Clean, awesome breakfast. My only problem is that there is a shuttle to the railway station in the morning that supposedly leaves at 6:45, 7:15 and 7:30 but you have to make a reservation. It was not said anywhere on the flyer that was posted in the lobby. It was fortunate...

Travelled solo and booked Er San Hotel in advance. Hotel is located in one of the newer stretches of shoreline in Lugu opened for tourism. Many hotels along that stretch but Er San Hotel stands out with its simplistic but modern mudbrick-like exterior. Interior is modern scandinivian styled and very clean. Everything works well. Only gripe is that wc and shower are ...

Beautiful building and room, and the design made our stay feel luxurious. Very comfortable bed and nice breakfast (the century egg porridge was tasty). Only issue was that it felt a little hot at night and the fan was above the seating area not the bed. Probably not an issue in colder weather though. Staff were courteous and I think there was one staff who could speak ...

there is no words for this place, it is absolutely stunning. A wonderful place, very remotely located in the Tibetan highlands at the very Western end of the province of Yunnan, a 30 minute drive outside Shangri-La. The landscape is breathtaking. The staff couldn't be more friendly or accomodating. The rooms/villas are fantastic, even better than on the pictures on the...

The personalized service is excellent. Many good stuff have been said about the service here and the attentiveness of the boss and his staff. Words doesn't do justice to the attentiveness and friendliness in this place. We've staying in many 6-star hotels in Yunnan, and none of them come close. Xizhou is made extra special because of Linden Centre. One thing to note...

We stayed here for a couple of nights and the hotel room was great! it was clean and everything you need is there. The bed is very comfortable and they even have an area where you can relax and play pool and browse the internet while sipping coffee or eating. You can also order breakfast and they serve good meals and great coffee. A lot of travelers stay in this place ...

5-star treatment at 4-star price. Staff was excellent and extra cost for breakfast buffet on the 28th floor was well worth the price. Centrally located next to upscale shopping mall, pedestrian area with large selection of shopping and dining choices and an informative, well-laid-out Yunnan Museum. Short taxi ride to park to the north and the Yunnan Minorities...

a high class hotel but the toilet at the lobby was dirty at the time and this should not happen to a 5 stars hotel and so bad that they allow guests smoke at the lobby. Anyway the room is so clean/modern with the most comfy bed I ever had in Yunnan during my 8 days visit. Their counter staffs are so friendly/helpful especially the sweet girl name Venus. You can buy a t...

The beds are among the most comfortable we have found in China. We enjoy a good sleep after being in other hotels in Yunnan. We find the staff more pleasant and polite than in other Yunnan hotels. The breakfast dishes are more tasty than in other hotels (if you like Chinese food.) There are supermarkets in front of the nearby Moma building and restaurants in the s...

Good services, free yunnan floral biscuits and desert everyday, the biscuits can be purchased from the reception too. The room was equipped with big toilets and king size bed, very comfortable. Good locations too, the hotel is right on top of a shopping mall, there are lots of fine dining restaurants in the shopping mall, provide many delicious Yunnan delights. I'll de...

Crowne Plaza is a beautiful hotel just next to Dayan old town. It is beautifully landscaped and the moment you stepped out of the back door, you'll find yourself in the old town. The staff of the hotel are very friendly and attentive to your needs. They answer all our questions to the best of their ability. Go to their western restaurant where they serve a fabulous...

This is by far the best accommodation we've stayed at, in our 9 days Yunnan trip. We've had to climb a short flight of stairs to reach the hotel but it was well-worth the effort (the owner came to the main road to greet us and helped us carry some of our luggages). The place was well-maintained, clean and comfortable. We were given a map and directions on how to tou...

The boss was very friendly and responsive to our requests. Room was very clean & beautiful (i had deluxe twin). She made us a few rounds of beautiful Yunnan local tea while waiting for car, and walked us out to main road to catch our airport transfer with our luggage. Do note, this accommodation is in Old Town, no cars access. drag your luggage across cobbled stone - ...

This hotel was hard to find...the taxi driver dropped us off at the Plateau Pearl Group and when we tried to check in, we were told that was not a hotel. The girl there was very nice and called us an uber using her phone. We paid her cash and she made sure to tell the driver to take us to the hotel. Apparently this happens all the time as there are other businesses wit...

The hotel - buildings and interior - is beautiful, set with a picturesque background of the Jade Dragon Snow mountain. It is located just about 10-15 minutes taxi ride from Lijiang Old Town. The room is new and clean, complete with all required necessities. The staff meet basic requirements but I feel that service is the bare minimum of a 4.5 stars hotel - with nothin...

It's a standard business hotel. Staff service was good though. Especially the concierge who were very helpful. I had called in advance to ask the concierge to help purchase tickets to the Dynamic Yunnan show. I had expected them to forget. But amazing, they remembered when I arrived. We needed a private car with driver to Dali but didn't want the hotel car because it...
Cheap places to stay in Yunnan Province

This hotel was just great, its run by an Australian who seems to know what people want in a hotel and is full of useful information. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean and even had a heated blanket for the bed and a plug in heater, which trust me at night its needed in the winter. The hotel has an entertainment room which contains computers, games, books, a T...

The must if you're looking for a simple and convenient accommodation near Lijiang's best highlights ! The establishment is clean, furnished with comfortable beds, slippers and individuals lockers (locks provided), well-located (you don't even need 2min to reach the old town), convenient (bus station giving access to all points of interest just down the alleyway). It ev...

alot of young traveller hanging around the place, they got really awesome public area, 24hrs library, great cafe, open air cinema with awesome serounding audio system, and alotsa daily activity for you to join. young and friendly staff. Great place to hang out, chill and relax

Good cheap option for Lijiang. It's a little walk from the Old Town, but definitely within walking distance. You have to enter through a little walkway that's easy to miss. The room was not bad and it was clean. Bed wasn't super comfortable but it wasn't bad, and the room had basically everything that I would need! Shower didn't get that hot, but it was warm enough for...

The deli lily pad guest house is located 5minutes away from the ancient castle. It is quiet at night, and not so far away from the castle. 5minutes from the west gate. Just in case you miss your meal, there's also two restaurant near the road. Amenities are quiet satisfying compared to the amount of money I paid. Atmosphere : beautiful chinese garden and interior....

I had a twin room ensuite. The shower area is extremely small. The guesthouse is still new so the fittings and such are still in good condition. There is a speaker in the room for connecting to any of your devices if you so desire. But no TV, hair dryer, kettle or tea/coffee in the room. Also there is no lift so it will be difficult with heavy luggage. The road leadin...

If walking uphill and downhill everyday for about 10-15 minutes each is not a problem, then it really is a must stay place. You can also take a cab up if you want. Rooms are very comfortable and nice. Very quiet and comfortable. Near the Ancient Town and Black Dragon Pool (but still needs a bit of hike to get there) I get a mixed feeling about the staff performance. ...

The hostel was difficult to find due to a lack of street signs, but once we got there our room was well appointed and spotlessly clean. The bathroom had a deep bathtub with a shower in it. The hostel is on the edge of a local market - as in just go outside and you are can buy your fruit or vegetables. But each room has good window insulation. We caught bus #8 fro...

Environment good cost-effective location is very convenient, the boss is also very enthusiastic, to arrange the pick up, driver teacher also special enthusiasm of lijiang is introduced, introduced the, every place have probably understanding travel is a good arrangement! You can also have tea and chat with your boss, naxi. It was in the old town, and it was quite close...

We were wowed by this place. We stayed in the king room with the view and what a view it was! The heaters and modern bathrooms were a very nice touch. The room was slightly dark but we didn't mind, in fact it kind of complimented the weather. Would definitely recommend.

We were pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the room was (queen bed), very spacious and good bed and toilet. Very near a big lake and pretty purple pottery street. Hostel itself on a pretty tree-lined street which were flowering when we were there. A 20-30 min stroll to the old town. The hostel provided free maps about the old town. Nearby local eateries, convenien...

Mama Naxi is very near to the bus station. Hikers who would like to start out their journey to tiger leaping gorge from lijiang can definifely stay here. The bus station is only 2 minutes from Mama Naxi. Room is super huge for 3 people. Also suitable for a family of 3. They also have a long couch in the room. Mama Naxi speaks very very very good english and they will...

I had my own room, which was nice, but the bathroom was a bit 'airy', so not super-pleasant. Best thing about this place is the general communal area. It just has a homely feel that made staying here a real pleasure, with good food (the Yunnan food at least) and reasonably priced drinks. It felt like a cozy place to hang out in the evenings, rather than a big party p...

Basic but comfortable rooms. Water pressure is not strong but at least is hot (all you need). Electric blanket provided. Simple breakfast: toasts/noodles + eggs + coffee/tea (20 kuai) and delicious homemade dinners with fresh local food (35 kuai). The rooftop offers as good a view as the viewing platform at the village, you can enjoy a much more relaxed sunrise here. J...

The hosts were friendly and helpful when I was looking for transportation and route for some visitations. And it's very convenient if you choose to have your meals in the guest house itself, the foods are nice and tasty. The place was sparklingly clean. Overall stay experience is excellent.

Where do I even begin - WONDERFUL stay for both backpackers on budget and families with kids traveling to the magical Yunnan. Home away from home is how I felt while living at Kersang. Prime location tucked behind a quite little alley way - it is within 5 minutes walking in all distances of Shangri-La Old town. Our room was spacious, beautiful designed with wooden deco...

We stayed at Tibet Guest House at the end of our trek at Tiger Leaping Gorge. When we arrived we were upgraded to an incredible room on the top floor with a balcony that had the most amazing view in TLG. It was newly renovated and the showers were great. The food was the best we had in TLG (and we tried most of the places along the way) and some of the best we have had...

my girlfriend and I stayed here in early jan and absolutely loved our stay here! great location, big and clean room, but best of all the family running this place were incredibly warm and helpful. we enjoyed many bowls of noodles cooked for us here too!

Room has nice design. The only things I dislike is the bathroom and the carpet.Water pressure is too low and installed with glassdoor. There is no privacy. Carpet is smelly and may be due to moisture and yet not properly sun. Overall, I still enjoy the stay.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Flower Residence. We paid extra to upgrade our room and had a view of the rice terraces from our room. The room is huge and clean, and provide comforts like electric blankets and hot water. The hotel also has an restaurant a walk away, with great food and cute pets onsite. The operator of the hotel is also friendly and able to help us arr...

This hotel is located on a hill right behind songtsam monastery. It's facing a grassland with herds of Tibetan yaks, and beyond that, it's the grand monastery. Rooms are expensive for Yunnan standard, but the view and the services make it worth every cent. Geusts are basically bounded to have meals in the hotel but the food is good and reasonably priced. Tips: there ...

The manager spoke excellent English. She was one of the nicest people we met on our trip, Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was fantastic and the service was extremely friendly. We felt at home. One word of caution. The hotel can be a little hard to find. Keep your booking sheet and ask locals. They all know this place. Fantastic! And they have beer in the fridge!...

In Southwestern China, it's best to come with no expectations. Nowhere is geared towards international tourism and that was part of the charm. The reception staff could communicate in English, but that was about it, and more than can be said for much of the rest of the city. The hotel itself probably gets a lot of domestic families and tour groups, and it's also a popu...

The hotel is very clean, the staff are quite friendly and willing to help. I chose non-smoking floor, high-level floor and 2 beds room on Agoda, but they didn't receive any request. However, they tried their best to arrange a 2 beds room for us. Hope the coorperation between the hotel and Agoda can be better.

We traveled from Lijiang to Kunming via overnight train. The train arrived at 6am and we arrive at the hotel at 7am. Surprisingly, the hotel allowed us to check-in and we could take a rest before experiencing Kunming. It was very nice. Without that early check-in, we couldn't take a rest and would not have enjoyed Kunming so much. The hotel was conveniently located ...

My wife and i enjoyed our stay at the Econmic Tade Hotel. Right from the moment we entered we felt comfortable. The receptionists were friendly and even if they were not sure with English, they always called for someone who did. Which we greatly appreciated, as most questions were speedily answered. Once in our room we were very pleased with the overall quality. Maybe ...

I spent weekend in Dali with few colleagues. We booked 2 rooms. Hotel ambience is perfect, homey with nice mini garden and tea table. Room is clean and complete. Location is strategic: 5 min walk to Dali Ancient Town West Gate and close to Mountain. Easy to find food, water, etc nearby. The best of all is the hospitality from the owner and hotel manager. They let us ch...

When we arrived we were told that we don't sleep in the new and main building, but in the old one across the street which we could not see from the main building. This is what we booked they said. It was quite late in the night and we didn't want to walk to the other building. We piad additional 200 RMB to stay in the main building. The rooms were ok. The breakfast ver...

This place is $27. For that money, it's worth getting a hot shower, and a good rest. I had 12 hour layover in Kunming, and I really wanted to get a good shower and place that I can lay before another 12 hour flight. I was a little skeptical after reading all the reviews, but hey I'm glad I give it a shot. When I arrived at Kunming Airport, I went to the information cen...

We are happy with our stay in this clean and neat hotel. The best thing is their restaurant provides Cantonese food of fairly good standard, which we missed dearly after travelling for 10 days in Yunnan, as most of Yunnan food are oily, chilly hot and not suitable for us. The restaurant is very good and they have a no. of private rooms (if you want non-smoking) and sta...

Booked the Bivou based on your high rating and their very well designed web site. Bivou turned out to be everything it claimed and more. The moment we booked the hotel, Bivou immediately sent a very detailed and useful list of information of what to expect or bring for our maiden trip to Lijiang. Thereafter, their responses to our queries were prompt and friendly. W...

Highly recommended. Certainly one of the best hotel experience I've had. This boutique hotel in the Lijiang Ancient Town (Gu Cheng) has everything u would need, Air-con with functioning heater, Good audio system, DVD, Wi-fi, and computer in the rooms! This hotel was formally an Art House! While keeping the historical design and feel, they renovated the bathroom with lu...

This was a really nice stay, one of the best I have had in China on this trip (stayed in 11 hotels). The staff are extraordinarily nice and really look after you to the point that they come and look for you when you are lost! Andy was a really helpful guy, carried my suitcase from the wrong hotel to the correct one and booked tours for me by walking a kilometre to the ...

This is the one of the tree bookings of this hotel for the days I stayed in Lijing. All the commands are the same as below. This hotel would be one of the most unforgettable hotels that I've ever stayed. Whenever we returned from outside, the staff welcomed us with hot tea fruit and warming reception. When we left the hotel too early for the breakfast, the staff ha...

Located in the heart of Lijiang Old Town which is very convenience to explore the city. The atmosphere of the hotel is very nice , quiet and beautiful with the ancient Chinese Style decoration. Facility in the room is in the good condition and make me stay comfortable. The area of improvement : If the breakfast time could start earlier than 8.30 PM then it will be go...

I'm very happy with this hotel. Situated within the ancient town, it's convenient to visit various attractions within zhongdian & restaurants. The hotel is well and tastefully designed and the staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good. I think one of the best hotel in zhongdian.

The hotel is now under redecoration but it does not hinder our stay. It locates near the Green Lake with shops and resturant. But it is quite far from the East Bus Terminal Station where the L6 linked the new Changsui Airport. I suggest that the Hotel Management should arrange a Bus Transit to the Changsui Airport as the Zhong Yu Hotel does.

Songtsam Meili is one of the beet hotels we've ever stayed in Aisa. It's located in a valley surrounded by clouds, 4-5 Tibetan families and farmland. We coiled see the grand Meili snow mountain from the rooftop and our room. We haven't seen so many stars at night for a very long time. The services were fantastic: the staff were genuine and caring. They even cleaned ou...

On a 12 day trip in China this was our favourite hotel from a list of four star hotels several of which were "upgraded". Really peaceful and perfectly located, the staff were all pleasant and helpful the breakfasts tasty and plentiful. Fruits, tea, flower pasta seemed to be available around the gate and appeared whenever we passed .

Due to the closure of their Springland branch for renovation, they have upgraded us to their Skyland branch. It was located up the Lion Hills, apart from the climbing, however there are eco tram which you could ride on. Prior to our arrival, as we are staying at their inn at Shangarila, they contacted us about the upgrade and also give us clear instruction and gettin...

We stayed 4 nights at Green Lake Hotel. We booked an executive superior room. The room faces the beautiful Green Lake. The room is clean and the service staff serves desserts every night. Excellent location with carrefour and lots of restaurants in the area. Room is decent. Room Cleanliness at an acceptable level. Buffet breakfast is good, with good variety of food. I'm glad that I can have a taste of yunnan noodle in soup at hotel's buffet breakfast! It's pretty good overall for the price I paid.

Really good, to Lijiang's first stop, the inn facilities did not have to say, and also, honeymoon arrangements! A long time ago to help buy flowers and flowers, is really warm beyond imagination, the room layout is very good, the wife is very satisfied, thank the boss, for our Yunnan honeymoon trip a good head! Strongly recommended

This hotel is located within the old town area. It has good room and bathroom facilities. The staff was very wonderful. They even walked with us to show the bus stop location. They also arranged for the driver for us. On the departure date, they provided free transfer to the airport. Highly recommend this hotel.

I stayed in a Lakeside room. The location of the room is perfect. It's exclusive from other guest rooms. My friend stayed in a Lakeview room. She said she could hear the loud noise through the wall. So if you dont want to depend on your luck, I would recommend you to choose a Lakeside room. I was really impressed with the tentativeness and the friendliness of the staff...

This hotel is in a quiet residential area in the outshirt of Shuhe Ancient Town. First time we went there, our taxi driver couldn't find it, she had to phone the hotel to get the directions. We stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel and room is quite cute. They have tea and cake at reception for guests. the dali regent hotel doesn't have rooms with great ambiance or with any 'ethnic' feel. however it makes up for it by providing great service and being very efficient and professional. the rooms were large and clean, with sufficient air-conditioning. the bathroom was clean and efficiently designed. we had a free complimentary breakfast spread and were surprised a...

The design of the hotel is absolutely beautiful. The Thai food in the restaurant is great. However, in comparison with its parent hotel- Intercontinental, the service of indigo is way behind, especially the check in counter and the restaurant. The staff could talk slower and more clearly. That could make it much better.

Hotel was beautifully designed and built. Our room design was beautiful. But, our experience was one of the most frustrating hotel experiences in my extensively traveling life (I've booked over 2 million Marriott Rewards points.) Service by duty manager Monica was excellent, very caring and responsive. My general conclusion was the hotel is geared to Chinese and no...
