Where to stay in Taranaki
Taranaki hotels & accommodations

Don't be fooled by the pics, all the grey concrete is part of a cool industrial chic theme and the rooms are beautifully modern. We were upgraded to an apartment and the lady on reception was incredibly welcoming. Out of ten hotels we stayed at in the North Island, this was by far the best. The free and plentiful parking is also very rare for a centrally located hot...

I was there for 2 nights for my kids inline hockey tournament which was only 2 mins drive from the hotel. But the reason why i booked this place was because of the indoor heated pool and spa. The first night we went 8:30 to the pool and it was cold. sat in the spa and nothing was working in it and the water was cold. was very disappointed with that. But lovely staff

Our first visit to New Plymouth, we found it a great place to stay. Very handy for the supermarkets & shops. Also easy to visit Egmont, Dawson Falls and Mount Taranaki. So much so instead of checking out on Monday, we stayed another night. Would recommend this motel anytime.

- Good: Literally steps away from the bus terminal, with loads of restaurants and attractions within walking distance. Staff are friendly and helpful. The common area (next to reception) is filled with books about Taranaki region and the radio also plays the regional channels, which add to the cosy vibe. - Bad: There is an adjacent bar which plays loud music outdoor la...

Big tick for location. Once you get there you don't need to use the car again. Great bars and restaurants are within a minutes walk of the hotel. The walkway is close by and shopping is just round the corner. We booked a business suite for one night and were more than pleased with our room. It was spacious and even had a sea view. No noise from the steeet made for a pe...

Hawera is about 50km from the start of the Mt Taranaki trail, so this would not be a convenient location as a base. However, Dawson Falls is nearer and we managed to do both trails on consecutive days. The hotel looks new, is neat and clean with all the necessary amenities. Parking is free but my grouses are (1) the internet usage was fixed at between 4-6 hours usage...

Loved staying here with my bestie (whose pretty fussy). Apart from the distance from town (on foot as there are no buses) it was still a great place to stay. Staff were accessible at all hours via conferencing which was different but not a bad experience at all. Would def. stay again if I had private transport. Excellent facilities and super spacious and clean too.

We arrived at the hotel to the most friendliest staff member, Marie. She provided tips on where to visit and given us a map. Home made cookies and local milk offered on the house. The room was clean. The bed was super comfortable. Recommendation for their restaurant- The Orangery. Was not disappointed. Best meal in a while. Would come back and stay again.

Clean comfortable room and comfortable bed.Staff very efficient and friendly willing to go the extra mile.Situated within walk distance to centre of town.Only downside was the wifi did not work in our room even though the staff tried their best to sort it out ,strangely it worked out our room in the passage

Lovely place to spend the night! Was upgraded to a bigger room but the ceiling was peeling and yellowish so didn't really felt comfortable just looking at it while sleeping. However the staff was friendly and helpful, there were washing and drying facilities, internet/wifi which were free, free rental of the bicycle to cycle around and many more! Marbles buffet located...

I ramdomly check into this Motel due to its location which was near to where i was going to spend my next 4 days conducting a seminar. Stay was fine. Still enough room with 2 ports cots. The only thing I can fault was I originally asked about hiring ports cots b4 I booked and was told they were free. So then I booked via agosa then was told they are no longer free as I didn't book direct. Then on arrival I was told I was inky allowed 2 towels as the other 2 guests were not paying. However from day 2 I...

Well located in easy walking distance of major city attractions and waterfront, the staff were gracious and approachable, the rooms comfortable and well appointed, the decor rather plain, there was both a Gideon bible and a verse of the day compendium should I have needed Christian inspiration. We had a great short stay in this motel. We booked 2 rooms and they are both very spacious and well equipped cooking facility. The best thing, aside from the very kind owners who patiently waited for us even though it was a really really late check-in (we did not expect that traffic was really heavy going out of wellington) , was their heated bed. It was really grea...

We would probably rate this motel 2 star. Rooms are quite small but comfortable & very clean. Breakfasts were available to order but we self catered. There was a microwave & 2 rings in the unit but washing up had to be done in the bathroom basin which was not ideal. The motel is not far from the main street in Hawera where there are supermarkets & plenty of shops &...

My family of 6 adults and 1 child needed a night's stay at New Plymouth. It was cozy enough and clean as well. Location was quite central and very near to Taranaki Volcano and Pukekura Park. The staff was helpful and friendly too. Very value for money.

I was looking for a unique and quiet place to stay near Mount Taranaki, and this absolutely fit the bill. Margaret and Peter welcomed me into their home for a very warm introduction, and then I was on my own in an apartment right in the middle of an operational dairy farm. I was only on site for less than twelve hours, but I found the apartment exceptionally clean, wid...

Just Gorgeous. Host and Hostess are so kind and friendly. Our room with private bathroom is so comfortable and clean. Mini kitchen is very helpful. What is more, spa in the garden is wonderful. We enjoyed and had a good rest in the spa every evening. We will go there again. Thank you Carol and Brian. DC and Yunnie from Devonport

Spacious room, great location close to the coastal walk and the wind wand, plenty of restaurant and shops around. The Salt restaurant on the first floor is one of the best in New Plymouth. Trust me, I've been around. Only downside, parking space can be a bit of a challenge if you come back late.

Stayed at Arcadia Lodge for two night for Mount Taranaki hike on Day 1. This stay is great. We stayed in the en-suite, room abit small but managable and ok. The wifi is strong, carpark are free and available, the staff are very friendly and helpful. We walk around New Plymount and the stay is only a few min walk. Best value for money stay in New Zealand.

I had a really wonderful time staying at this B&B! The bed was so comfortable, there was good breakfast (Sausages, eggs, cereals), and you can have all the coffee, & tea all you want all day long! The wifi was also fast, and worked. The bathroom was sharing, but it still felt like your own bathroom as you could just lock the door and it felt like yours. Not to mentio...

Older style, comfortable and quirky! Great views across the harbour. The owner was helpful and took great care to make our stay special. On a clear day Taranaki can be seen through the kitchen window. The access driveway is steep but alternative parking is available if requested. Very close to this accommodation, try climbing Mt Paritutu if you like steep and chains! ...

Lovely B+B in Stratford, looking toward Mt. Taranaki. Judith was a great hostess. Beautiful room with all we needed for our one night stay. We were offered three cooked breakfast choices. The eggs benedict and french toast were superb. Judith even offered homemade pavola the night we arrived......delicious!

We chose this holiday house as it is right opposite to the sea so you can view the sunset every evening. I guess this house can be occupied by up to 8 people. The stay at this home was delightful. Very nice room and bathroom, and the home is located in lovely rural surrounds. Although it is a bit difficult to find the home and it is a bit far out of town. The hosts were very gracious and welcoming. Unfortunately there is no wifi or iron in the room. But everything else is is perfect including free breakfast.

For me, the best value for money stay in New Plymouth. You can tell there is so much thought and detail put in to the hotel through the furnishings, the decor, and each room. Also very clean and one of the rare hotels here that offers complimentary water. Lynn the manager, is a very nice and approachable lady. Very decent, clean and comfortable place to stay. The host Karen and Murrie are super nice and helpful, they gave us lots of information about the area and advised activities to go.
