This place was amazing. We stayed on the 4th floor in a "spa room", which had absolutely stunning views of the Bay. Waking up to that view was amazing - especially given the comfortable beds with beautiful sheets. The spa pools around the main swimming pool were amazing - there were 3 different temperature settings to suit everyone's taste. Overall this place was am...

We loved this hotel. It was very spacious and elegant and very well appointed. Our only criticism was there was no air-conditioning. We had a 2 bedroom apartment and my husband and I stayed in the second bedroom. It was quiet hot and stuffy in the night and there was no window that we could open to let in fresh air. We would have appreciated some air con. Also the pool...

Stayed the week of New Year......Quiet and clean. Two adults and two children in a small room. Did not realise it was so small, otherwise I wouldn't of booked it. The Hotel didn't offer us a bigger room, so we were there for nearly a week. Other than that staff was pleasant and the location was excellent.

It was a lovely stay with a lovely view. The owner was very helpful and took time to share about the attractions, amenities in the vicinity. Seeing that we have young kids and huge luggage, he kindly offered us a ground floor unit and WIFI vouchers for our first world connectivity needs. From our room (#1), we were greeted with a pool view and a view of the bay of is...

i have travelled a great deal and stayed in numerous hotels around the world. the duke of marlborough hotel was up there with the best of them. the staff couldn't have been more friendly and went out of there way to make our stay one to remember. nothing was a problem.

Booked a room for that says for 5 guests for 175nzd. When we arrived we got charged for 2 extra persons as the booking is for only 2 persons. Nevertheless, my family and I had a very nice stay in Paihia. Our room has a very nice view of the sea, it is just across the beach, centrally located close to shops and major attractions. The room is very tidy, bathroom is excep...

Natasha met me at the reception with a welcoming smile and a very prompt and efficient check-in, much appreciated after spending 6 hours driving from Auckland to Whangarei in Easter holiday traffic. Went to the room and could not falter anything!!! Wow your housekeeping staff could train some of Aucklands hotel housekeeping staff on how to clean a hotel room properly! ...

This was a great place to stay. Quite area and a comfortable bed. My only issues were it’s not in the main area of Paihia, there’s no where to eat close by so you have to be willing to walk 20-30 mins to get to nearest restaurants and cafes. Also, information book said WiFi details were on the tv panel but I couldn’t find them and because I was out the majority of the ...

The staff were very accommodating. We had 5 of us and were booked for continental breakfast only. However, they upgraded us to fully cooked breakfast for free as our rooms could accommodate 8 persons. Thank u so much for the hospitality and good service! Do stay here to enjoy their service! :)

We travelled both islands in New Zealand, staying in different hotels, apartments and motels and this was by far the best. We were greeted very warmly and felt very welcome. The owners have a wealth of knowl about the surrounding area and saved us time and money with the advice in continuing our trip. We will 100% return here. You will not regret staying here. Beautifu...

Avalon is amazing!! Loved the stream fed pool which was quite refreshing & the cottages are so modern/fancy yet cozy with a charming elegance and super comfy beds (got great sleep & at a great price) the views are excellent with tasty mandarin's growing all around........a super easy walk into Kerikeri & just around the corner from the airport too (awesome location). ...

Perfection in paradise. From the warm greeting on arrival to our tears when leaving The Sanctuary, this is the place to stay in Paihia. The hosts go above and beyond with 5 star meals, perfect site seeing recommendations, lively conversation, picture perfect views and a massage like no other. Hopefully this review won't prevent us from getting a booking in the futur...

The cheerful greeting from Alistair set the tone for a great stay. Rooms clean and comfortable. Loved the fresh milk offered for the room to add to tea coffee supplies etc already provided in room Wi-Fi works well Pool is large and well maintained although it was too cool for our group to enjoy Several options suggested for local dining .we chose Indian spice and re...

From the first moments of our check in we were delighted to be greeted warmly, with nothing a bother. Our unit was double bedroomed and value for money. Toiletries were of a high standard. I was impressed there were complimentary daily newspapers, not often found! A very pleasant 2 day stay!

Absolutely unbelievable land, so many viewpoints, lots of places to walk, great facilities, lost a star as their hot tub jets weren't working and our suite smelled a bit like fish, otherwise, really clean and modern suites. Had a private hot tub you could book, very nice but had a covering so couldn't see the stars at night. Close to 'town'. Went on a snorkeling trip t...

The accommodation was good. Comfortable and clean - which is why I booked there a second time. I have no issue with the accommodation itself. The issue I have is with the response I got when I arrived for a second visit and was told that they were fully booked for the type of suite I had booked and the booking should never have been allowed. The person I spoke with was...

This was the second haka lodge I have been to during my travels around New Zealand and it whole heartedly lived up to the high standards the first lodge instilled. You would be hard pressed to find facilities on par with this haka lodge. You feel at home which is an immensely difficult thing to achieve for a hostel. It offers privacy for those that want it and plenty ...

Ive given casa Bella 5 star in all categories cause we have stayed there a few times now the down fall is WFI zabu I believe is there cheap and nasty internet provider there's a limit on the devices that can logon and you've got about 1 hour online could be shorter depending on what your viewing that's if you are able to get access which we didn't get anything at all!!...

gorgeous, absolutely stunning place! Took my mother here for a relaxation holiday and she said it was the most stunning place she has ever stayed. We sat on patio looking right onto beach and went for leisurely walks at night. This is paradise at its best! Free use of kayaks and boggie boards and friendly hosts. Highly recommend and will def go back!

This is an exceptional bed & breakfast. We stayed for 4 nights at the end of Oct and had the time of our life. Inge is a superb host and made us feel so welcomed. Her breakfast is to tie for - 5+ stars! And the view from the breakfast room is better than you see from the photos! Inge is very knowledgeable about the area and made excellent suggestions for places th...

You can't go wrong with this choice. It seemed brand new and very well equipped - full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, hot tub on a balconey with a grand view of the ocean. We were within an easy walk to everything - the beach, the restaurants and shops, the harbour, the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, and the grocery store! The proprietor was helpful in booking activities for us and...

We initially booked for only one night, but decided to stay for 4 and make this our base for exploring the Bay of Islands to the north and east. The room was not big but quite comfortable, with a small balcony that overlooked the garden. Being a standard room, it had no aircon. Instead it had a ceiling fan which was so high up that it was useless. The pedestal fan kept...

Beautifully situated right across from the ocean and the marina. Rooms were large. well appointed with superb sea views. Heating excellent. No air conditioning so might be warm in the summer but both windows opened for fresh air. Staff were fantastic; friendly and helpful. While not cheap, not expensive either.

Our first stop on our North Island tour was the Bay of Islands, and the staff at Breakwater Motel really helped our holiday get off to a fantastic start. When we checked in, I asked about what to do around Paihia, and they helpfully gave me relevant brochures and information. After picking an activity (swimming with dolphins), they rang around and found me the best tim...

We stayed for 12 nights and everything was great. The team of housekeeping staff were so friendly and efficient. The motel is in the perfect location so close to everything and it's a great base to explore northland and the area. I highly recommend staying here.

Motel was very spacious and staff were lovely and helpful. Read reviews before booking and one or two seemed to be written by extremely fussy people. 100% recommend as the dolphin is a good kiwi motel with good kitchen facilities if you don't want to dine out every meal. Short 2min walk to piahia centre and on site parking.

Loved it! Gorgeous little place in the woods in kerikeri town. About a 5min walk to restaurants etc. Secluded! With a pool and a cute cat. Booked on the day through Agoda.com. Unfortunately booked at the same time as a walk in. Rung to confirm arrival time after 8pm and he lovely lady gave me another room, an upgrade for the same price. So relaxing. I sat on the balcon...

These guys deserve some free advertising, great place to stay, great staff & management, go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. Best price ever for really clean & modern rooms, hard to beat, in fact I will discussing with my management around our company staying here as well for work as really reasonable. Food is excellent.

Everything was nice and clean! Super close to the beach and supermarket and KIWI Experience pick up/drop off (Wharf). They have a hottub and cheap bicycle and kayak rent. Nice balcony where you can chill in the sun. Just a very relaxed place in general.

We came into town after most receptions were closed & booked online. It was around 10pm when we got to the hotel & it was closed too. We called & woke up Nachi but he was still pleasant & so helpful. He checked us in & even booked tours for the next day for us. We only stayed 2 nights but would stay here longer if we had the time. Room was clean & large with many amen...

This was my first experience stay at a New Zealand style holiday park. We booked a standard cabin which had a bed and a fridge. To our surprise, the shared bathroom is outside and we had to walk a couple of minutes to the bathroom; the situation is kinda like accessing a public bathroom at a beach. Other than that, all was good and we enjoyed our stay. Also, it is ...

Overall we really liked this place. The grounds are well-maintained and have nice little landscape/decor touches which was nice - the owners/managers obviously take pride in the property. The room was well-equipped for the price, e.g. with tea/coffee facilities and milk pots available, and complimentary toiletries. Shower was good. The beds were made beautifully. Great...

BASE has a reputation for being a “party hostel” and they tried to meet that expectation every night at their on-site bar. Trying to find quiet is not possible, but the double private room has a fan and tv that can be used to muffle the bar noise. We liked our double room as it had an ensuite bath, and kitchenette with sink, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster at a...

I travelled to Paihia as a backpacker and was amazed by how this plaze looks like. It is very well organized, has an extraordinarily clean and equipped kitchen and offers a lot of comfort for any traveller. In addition, management is the factor that makes this place, they are very helpful and take the time to go with you to the accommodation to show how everything work...

I was here for a weekend of fishing. This place is simple, basically just beds and fridge in a room, but has great shared facilities in the complex. The outdoor kitchen set up was convenient, toilets and showers a good size and clean and they have an area for cleaning boats and fishing gear etc which was perfect!

We stayed for 12 nights and everything was great. The team of housekeeping staff were so friendly and efficient. The motel is in the perfect location so close to everything and it's a great base to explore northland and the area. I highly recommend staying here.

Our booking was just perfect for our 3 night stay as a base to explore the beautiful area. My granddaughter described the setting as "this is heaven" as she interacted with the local wildlife and explored around the camp. Facilities also included a great playground for children along with an excellent swimming pool. Our hosts were most accommodating and helpful in ev...

We are a group of 3 adults. When compared with other backpacker hostels like the nearby YHA and BASE (Tiki Lodge), Averill Court Motel has the best value for money in terms of room comfort, a private parking space, and a spa & swimming pool (although quite small). However, the stove in the self-contained kitchen is not fire-based, so it takes quite long to heat the pa...

It was a fantastic place to stay. Only 5 mins walk from the beach and 10 to the town but there are restaurant all along the road. So many choices. Staff were so helpful and even gave me a lift to Waitangi and I then walked back. The room had a min kitchen which saved me some money during my stay. I would really recommend here to friends as it was such value for money....

Very nice and cosy apartment. Only problem is that the address is wrongly indicated via the Agoda website and as a result we had to spend a bit of time looking around. Perfect and unblocked view of the sea. Will definitely want to stay @ this property again :)

This couple epitomize the qualities a traveler most often misses. For your stay you are part of their family. They have just the right combination of personalities to make a joyful yet organised environment. They make extra effort to insure your experiences while staying with them run smoothly. They are interested in knowing more about the lives of their guests whi...

We stayed at the Abri Apartments for 2 nights and could not recommend the apartments highly enough. They have amazing views, close to town, harbour, tours and amenities. The apartment is well equipt with all cooking facilities,BBQ and is a home away from home. Thank you to Peter and Helen for your kindness to us during our stay.

We stayed in Rua, which was bright, airy, and had a perfect view of the water from our comfortable bed. Mangonui was our favourite stop out of all the Northland areas as it had a bit of history and character to its name (and delicious food options nearby). Thanks for the lovely stay. :)

Really.enjoyed.our stay here friendly staff and our children loved the grounds.with a trampoline and ducks. They provided us with a portable cot at no extra charge which was nice. It was very clean and had everything we needed. Only thing it didn't have was rubbish bin liners which made it.hard when doing dishes and wanting to discard food scraps. The reason I chose th...

Of all the hotels we have stayed in while travelling NZ, this was by far the best. I had a wonderful sleep on the comfy bed and pillows. The bed was comfy, the room was noise-proof and the facilities just perfect. The bathroom was spacious and the kitchen had everything we needed.

We got our booking at a discounted price that made the unit excellent value. The kitchen made holding and preparing food practical. Russell is a small town so two or three slow days is plenty to look around as long as you have a car. It would be very busy during holiday periods.

The only thing was with our meals was a garden salad, but it was just lettuce and red onions... Would of loved tomato, carrot or just something a little more. Apart from that everything was lovely, we have stayed at a lot of places this has been the best.

Lesley was very welcoming when we arrived. She showed us to our apartment and recommended places that we can see and do. We did just this and the Waitangi Treaty Grounds was my partners favourite. The personalised note and the Manuka honey they left for us was a treat and the apartment itself is stunning. We wished we stayed for longer. We were here in autumn (even tho...

We stayed three nights. It was great base for touring the whole of this northern area of New Zealand. The acommodation was ideal, modern and spotless, especially well equipped for self catering. It is too far from the centre of Kerikeri to walk in, and no footpath for most of the way, so if you want to eat out you will probably have to drive. The best feature w...

I chose a 2-bedroom villa for my family to stay towards the end of our trip to Northland. It was a great choice and everyone was impressed to have a spacious apartment style place to relax for a few days. The villa is extremely well equipped with all the necessities you'd find at home. They've really thought of everything. The full-size kitchen is well stocked with ame...

Quiet location but a steep climb if you walk from the beach or shops. Very good apartment and the staff were very helpful. The apartment is a bit tired, dishwasher doesn't work, bath taps are loose, and some lights needed new bulbs. Parking is not easy but adequate.

Intent on exploring NZ's northernmost city, we spent two happy nights at The Lodge Bordeaux. The owners were charmingly personable and helpful, the room was spacious, and well appointed, the decor in keeping with it's Francophile leanings, the bathroom was almost as big again and the spa bath the apogee of its form, the fridge had aspirations of being a bar fridge, and...

From the warmest of welcomes right through to when we left and the manager came out to the car to save me from getting wet, the whole experience was just fantastic. This is a motel for sure i would return to, and for longer, next time in the area. It is so nice here it is worth changing your plans to fit in staying here rather than elsewhere. Dave showed us how to w...

From the moment we arrived Lionel and Rob' s welcome, exemplary care and personal touches set the tone for our (too short) 3 day stay. The villa and grounds are stunning, our room was spacious and luxurious and Lionel's breakfasts were delicious and offered such a wide variety of options, with his warm smile and enthusiasm. A perfect base for exploring the Bay of Islan...

arriving in the area on new years eve, we were delighted by the location, serenity, peace and quiet, surrounded by gardens and natural bush, with an amazing view. beautifully appointed room and balcony with separate lounge to relax. we made a cuppa with the provided afternoon tea and settled in. our host made us a booking at a local bistro and enjoyed a special end of...

We were warmly welcomed by Mark's smile and then Angelique's offer of a cup of tea. A great start to a relaxing 5 day stay in which the conversation flowed, the house keeping was discreet and the breakfasts delicious. We could stay in or go out and nothing we planned was too much trouble to our hosts. Being able to mix with the other guests around the dining table was ...

John and I had a wonderful stay from start to finish. A very beautiful relaxing setting looking out towards Cape Brett from our wing. Enjoyed the top quality accommodation and facilities. Louise was an excellent host with her friendly welcoming personal touch and delicious breakfast. And happy to help make our stay as memorable as possible. Most satisfied.
