A very comfy, clean and quiet environment ”

I have to say that I had slept very well that night, as I'm quite a light sleeper usually. The comfy blanket and the mattress plus, I must stress here, the 'exceptionally' cooling AC, have altogether made my sleep last till the next morning. The visual effect of the room, being the wall painted in blue color and furnitures in white colour, has certainly made my stay ever more comfortable , that you don't feel like going anywhere other than staying the cooling room to surf Wi,Fi all day! There's a tv lounge outside the room where you could kill your idle time to just sit back and relax. And if that's not enough, engage a spa service located downstairs and have your tired feet pampered. You could even dine in at a restaurant run by the same hotel, where mainly western food are served at reasonable prices (with special discounts).

Regalia is a good hotel for the price you pay. There is nothing spectacular about this hotel, the dorm rooms are regual dorms with lockers. The beds have a thin mattress but are generally comfortable. The only problem with the beds was that the frames were very squeeky, so if you moved in your sleep, you will make a lot of noise. Location-wise it is far from the main restaurants and nightlife zones. However, its not hard to get to these by cab. The owner will happily act as a cab for guests too. Overall I had low expectations and Regalia pleasantly surprised me.

Friendly and decent accomodation”

Bathroom isn't very clean and the double-room is tiny, without windows. But the room itself is clean and the staff very nice and helpful. Location is in the center of Kuah, but on the island you might prefer to stay at Pantai Cenang with its beach and nice restaurant and it's pretty far from there...

It was very pleasant. The room is equiped with shower and bathroom but toilet is shared. However, it is very clean. The only downside is that there is a restaurant at the back of hotel where the smell/smoke will go into the room

Loud and unwelcoming ”

We arrived to the Regalia to find it closed at 5pm and noone to be seen. In fact we had to ask a bypasser to ring the number for us as we have an English sim. The owner was next door and let us in, making us wait while she talked with her friend. She showed us to a nice simple room, and informed us we could change if it got too loud.. Almost like she was warning us. We can put up with (just about) cockroach remains in the shower, no loo roll and a salon being here so lots of people are in and out. We can't, however, deal with loud music and a crying baby (inexplicably awake and swapping between bawling, playing with bells and squeaking toys) at 1am in the main hallway. We asked to be moved, which we were, to a much nicer, much quieter room with a bath, it was lovely. It backed onto an alley though and kids were revving bikes until the early hours. When we asked to rent a bike in the morning, she agreed to meet us to show us, but when we went downstairs, it was a dead zone again and we had to walk to the jetty to sort it ourselves. We had to take a ferry as a transit on our journey that we hadn't expected, so we had to leave a day early. Upon asking for a refund on our last night, she flat out refused, with no explanation. The management is utterly useless, and the noise isn't acceptable. I wouldn't waste your money.

Chinese new year so everything was booked up so was just happy to have a place to sleep that i vould afford. Really is decent when you consider the price.

Very difficult to find, but good basic dorm”

Taxi drivers and hotels on the same street didn't know where it was and when we finally found it, the staff were indifferent. The dorm itself was clean, with good WiFi, comfortable beds and individual plug sockets, but the bathroom was very small and the tiny common area had ants. When we had to check out the next day, the reception was closed for a holiday, but they hadn't warned us of that when we checked in the day before, even though they knew we were only staying one night. We had to slide the keys under the door and just hope that was ok. Overall, it was very cheap accommodation, but it was functional with no soul. Only go if you're forced to as a stopover.
