Best backpacking hotel”

Travelled as a solo backpacker in March 2018 Value for money - booked a single pod at a discounted price. The room is spacious enough for two with a small cabinet and 3 hangers. Would have given 5 stars if not for the fan which was not cooling enough and a bit noisy. Although the 2 universal sockets with USB ports made up for it. Fully charged my gadgets (Samsung S7 Edge, Samsung Tab S, iPad Mini, 20mAh Romoss Power Bank, SJCAM S4x Elite) overnight. Location - a very short walk from KL Sentral / Monorail station. You will pass by few Indian stores and an alley. Neighborhood is safe even for late night walking. There's a mini grocery right beside for personal supplies. Cleanliness - comfort rooms are cleaned daily, floors are clean so you wont worry even if you are made to leave shoes at the door Staff - very friendly and accommodating. i left my room keys at the comfort room and it was returned to me in the morning. you may ask for them to keep your luggage after checkout. will retur

Cozy place in central location”

We (a couple, 31 and 40 years old) stayed at PODs for 5 nights and were very happy with the accomodation. Our room was very simple (mattress on the floor, no window) and the facilities were okay (2 toilets and 3 showers on our floor). Entry is secured by keycard. The location is great in a busy but quiet street just 2 minutes walk from KL Sentral. Lots of tasty and cheap Indian food all around. The Hostel has a nice café where you can hang out, as well as a rooftop bar which is sometimes open for events on the weekend. Staff was always friendly and the whole atmosphere is very relaxed. Definitely a good place to stay if you prefer KL Sentral to the backpacker areas in Chinatown or Bukit Bintang.

Very good hostel”

I stayed 6 nights in PODs hostel and it was very good. The staff is very friendly. I stayed in the 4 female beds. There is no air co and no window just a big fan so it's was very hot but it's ok. If you want Windows there are the mixed room who looks good. There is a cafe downstairs where you can stay, read and watch the TV or meet others travelers. The KL sentral is so close to the hostel is very good when you're a big backpack and come from the airport by bus. There is a lots of restaurants in the street, the little India very close, a little market just down and a big commercial centre at 4min walking! Bed was good, room quite clean, bathroom also. Only 2 showers so hopefully there are not to much people in your room. You can let you clothes dry outside or inside who can be very useful if you dont want to go to the laundry every time. I'll be back for sure if I'm back in KL! Thanks CP.

Home from Home ”

I really enjoyed my stay at PODs.. The staff were welcoming and willing to share their stories and listen to mine . It felt really homely. They had great internet conn..and TV and a good library of books. Breakfast was basic ..toast and tea/coffee. The fridge had stuff backpackers had left ..so it was yrs for free if it didnt have a name on. The single rooms only have a mattress and a small lamp.. but it was comfortable. The bathroom was basic .. showers worked great. For this price, this place is great VFM.. Ive booked another two nights on my return to KL ..id highly recommend it to anyone on a budget as a great hostel.

Exceptional”

I really enjoyed my stay here. The location was very accessible as it is just a few walks to the train station. There are also many food shops and grocery stores nearby so I was never worried whenever I need to buy some necessities. The hostel has no curfew so I was able to maximize my every day roam around Kuala Lumpur up until midnight. Also, the food at their cafe is very good. My favorite was the spahetti bolognese! I will choose Pods again once I go back to KL. I was very satisfied! Perfect five stars for me!

This is the second time I came to the PODs The Backpackers Homes & Cafe for business travel. I prefer to come here because it is worth with affordable rent, friendly staff and the facilities nice here. It is a good choice for me to stay in a short period. Will come again for next outstations and will try others optional rooms too. And yeah, I love the breakfast here, which I made it by myself. This is interesting about this hotel. The conclusion is everything was good to be here.

Great hostel for a stay in kl”

i have stayed in kuala lumpur many times and this place is the best hostel in the kl sentral and chinatown areas. Good wifi, free towel, free drinking water, free breakfast. If you want to find something similarly priced to this place, then it will not compare in value. Also, if you want good wifi in chinatown, you won't find it unless you pay for something more expensive than a hostel (such as a hotel).

Walking distance from KL Sentral. This was my last stop before heading back to my home country. Booking was fairly easy. The hotel I previously booked was so disappointing and their customer service was really bad. I got back to KL from SG earlier than expected and so I asked if it's possible to have an early check in. They said it's not possible and they cancelled my booking just like that. Truly grateful that I was able to have PODS on my list of properties near KL Sentral and when I called them, the staff I spoke with was very kind and helpful. I really just wanted to drop off my stuff, rest a bit and freshen up before doing my last minute errands around KL. When I got there, I was able to book a solo capsule room quickly. Friendly and helpful female staff! I will definitely stay here again if I need to be somewhere near KL Sentral.

Comfortable stay”

The location is surprisingly very close to KL Sentral. The staff are friendly. A deposit of RM20 is needed upon check in. The single pod room was small but it was good for me. Clean bathrooms with dry floor. There wasn't much noise from the surrounding area and cafe at night except from around 9pm to midnight. Close after midnight it's pretty much quieted down. A good stay for a very good price.

Great Location”

PODs is really great at Location. It's just a couple minutes walk away from KL sentral monorail, which makes it really accessible. There are dorms for female only with the same price as the mixed dorm, which is really worth the value. The environment might be quite noisy as the room are partitioned without fully enclosed on the ceiling area. The staff are friendly and helpful. There are free tea/coffee and toast bread for breakfast as well. Overall I do enjoy the stay a lot.

Transit stay at PODs”

PODs had a simple lay out. They had a roof top (nothin much there on the roof top, just a nice view). Below was a restaurant, served simple breakfast in the morning like toast and jam and free flow of coffee and tea. You can order special breakfast but it will be at a cost. The double pods room was ok. Had wifi, aircon and a fan. But aircon will be switched off from 7am in the morning. Its a 5 to 10 mins walk to KL sentral station. The only downside was that you had to bring your own toiletries. But no worries, if u didnt, there is a 7/11 just across the street. Many eateries nearby as well. The common area has a TV. Overall it was a good stay.

No complaints”

I needed an overnight bed in KL due to my airline changing the flight times. So I booked The pods,as I needed to be near to Kl Sentral for my bus from/to the airport. I was in a 16 bed dorm on 3rd floor,bed was comfortable enough-there are 2 toilets&3 showers for the entire floor for the use of approx 30 guests but I can say I did not have to wait at all. The breakfast was toast&jam-plus a green paste which I was led to believe is peanut butter. Coffee/tea also available. WiFi service was good too. Some guests choose to use there laptops/phones at all hours of the night in the dorm causing noise but that is not the fault of The Pods but purely the inconsiderate guests.

Best option in the area”

I love this place. Ive stayed here several times and have always had a good experience. You can find cheaper places in Chinatown, but you'll also be surrounded touristy BS. Pods is right near kl sentral, a major hub for trains and buses, making it an ideal place to center yourself. Plus the price is cheap and has free coffee and toast. The dorms are spacious and quiet. Single rooms are only slightly more expensive than the dorms, but you should know that they only have partial walls, so you can hear anything going on in the other single rooms.

Great place, excellent location”

I was a solo traveler, was looking to wander around in KL and found this place. Really good place; its clean, comfy, staffs were very friendly and helpful, location was perfect as it is only a few minutes walk to KL sentral station. Plus! theres a 24hr laundromat nearby just across the street. A little feedback is only the shower sometimes has hot water, sometimes not and the water sometimes in the shower got a little bit of water (maybe it was not a lucky day for me). But overall, would still comeback for a stay. Thanks PODs!

Great for short stay”

Went for a quick 2D1N shopping trip to KL and I really couldn't have picked a better place to stay! Location is perfect, just 5 mins walking from KL Sentral Station which provides easy access to all main shopping areas around KL. I chose the single pod room, and while tiny in size, I found the room to be adequate for my purpose (which is basically just to drop my shopping bags, leave for more shopping, and then back for a good night rest). I see some reviews complain about the cleanliness of the shower rooms and toilets, but fortunately, I had no such issue during my stay. Will come back again for sure.

Of course the location of the Pods hostel in kl sentral makes travelling around kl very effective and efficient. I personally enjoyed chilling in the common room with local and foreign travellers while enjoying our drinks. Had a recommendable experience at the Pods hostel, no regrets.

Good value for money for solo traveller”

Excellent location as it is near to monorail & LRT & KTM & buses. Many restaurants nearby & a convenience store next door. U can even order food & drinks at PODS the Backpackers. I always stay here when in KL. They even provide free breakfast (simple jam & toast with coffee or tea & drinking water)

Great little hostel”

I only had an overnighter in Kuala Lumpur, but I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The staff was super friendly, the facilities were nice and included lockers in the dorms (something I don't often see in hostels and, when I do, it usually comes at extra cost), and the location was easy to find with help from locals (who were also super friendly). They also had a nice little cafe in the lobby, although I didn't have time or $$$ on me to purchase anything. At $7 for the night, I was more than satisfied.

Excellent”

My room had no window probably because i chose non-smoking room. They had bread, jam, coffee, and tea for breakfast. There was a book club meeting held at the restaurant. Its a good place after all since its in a walking distance in nu sentral mall and KL sentral. There’s a minimarket next to the hotel and broad choices of restaurants and cafes nearby. Shout to their helpful staff, to stay here during my vacation was one of the best decisions I made.

Lovely place -beds are no longer comfy”

This place is great, I stay here often as I'm passing through. I know that they invest in new mattresses, unfortunately they all sag in the middle like a soup bowl -so if a comfy bed is priority skip this. The bathrooms are cleaned daily but the stalls could use some fresh paint as they've gotten a bit dingy, and for some reason the floor often is wet. Everything else about this place is great. Nice people, nice cafe area for lounging and meeting people, less then 5 min walk to KL Sentral, next to restaurants and shops and it's quiet.
