Riverside Views ”
Unfortunately it's burning season when the air is filled with haze and this somewhat detracts from the scenic beauty of the mighty Mekong River (which is very depleted with the Chinese dams upstream restricting the flow). The hotel is pleasant - although unlucky to have a very noisy person in the room next door who thought rearranging the the balcony furniture at 06:15 was OK. Hotel popular with tour groups - nice breakfast and comfortable bed.

Above average”
We arrived to meet an unsmiling unwelcoming receptionist. Despite that I was walking with the aid of a stick following knee surgery there was no offer of assistance with our bags, arriving or leaving. The room itself was small and poorly appointed. One small box with 2 coathangers for hanging clothes, one small garden type tin round table and not one chair. Nowhere to put any cases, everything had to go on the floor. Only one bedside table. The only spare power sockets were by the balcony door and the main door. The only reason this had a spare socket was the emergency rechargeable torch whose base was bolted to the wall and did not work had a power lead to short to reach the socket. There was a kettle, the original one did not work but was replaced upon request. The airconditioner outdoor compressor unit unit made enough noise to wake the dead on startup. This hotel is in a good location for the restaurants etc and for river views but that does not make up for the poor room which at 1440B is seriously overpriced. If you must stay in this hotel then avoid room 310.

Avoid completely. ”
Stayed two nights. Avoid if possible. For this price you expect a decent stay but it was far from it. Room is very old and in poor condition. Washroom was disgusting. Water didn’t even get hot. During the day a staff was using power tools all afternoon directly outside the rooms. Had to ask front desk on the second day to stop the work so I could enjoy sitting outside to enjoy the views of the Mekong. Breakfast was open at 7am but there was no staff. After waiting I had to let front desk know there were people waiting. Finally someone showed up to prepare food and I believe it was the cleaning lady. We didn’t get our food until 7.45am. 7-Eleven quality food. There was a party going on on the second evening and the noise carry easily into the rooms because of the old design. Not hotel’s fault but there was a festival going on nearby until 2am and you could hear the live music the entire time. Definitely not a place for peace and quiet. I would definitely not recommend this place.

An Old Favourite, Great Location”
I have stayed at the Namkhong Riverside Hotel a number of times and other hotels in Chiang Khong a few times. The Namkhong Riverside is a good choice. Centrally located in the older part of town and with great views of the Mekong from rooms and the dining area. Good staff, good breakfast and reliable internet...

Great Staff, Great Location”
My 5th stay at Namkhong Riverside Hotel over the years and it is still the best choice in town. The rooms are modest but clean, modern and comfortable. A wonderful view of the MeKong River from the room, the balcony and the dining room. There was a small issue with payment on check-in. I contacted Agoda and within 30 minutes the staff had brought my refunded cash and all was cleared up smoothly and happily.

Easy access to Laos immigration point”
We stayed at this hotel as we needed to be at the Laos immigration point early the next day to join our cruise boat down the Mekong. The hotel at Chiang Kong was very pleasant, with a riverside setting. We eat in their restaurant in the evening and the food was delicious. The town is small but has some interesting temples and shops. If you need to be in this area to cross from Thailand to Laos this hotel is a good choice.

GreatLocation, Good Staff, Nice Room”
My 4th stay in this hotel and it is always enjoyable. The Mekong River views are great from the upper floors, the rooms are clean, internet is fine, staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a varied buffet with a Thai/Chinese emphasis. The walk alomg the riverfront path to local restaurants is a highlight in Chiang Khong.

OK hotel for a one night stay on the way to Laos”
We were on our way to Laos and needed a hotel when we arrived by bus from Chiang Rai. We had booked a garden view but the hotel put us in a river view room with a nice big balcony. The room itself was nice, with the normal hard bed but the linens were new and nice. The bathroom was very simple with the shower right next to the toilet. We had dinner at the restaurant which was open air and overlooking the Mekong. The menu had very limited vegetarian options. I asked for a cheese sandwich and they advised me they did not have cheese available. The wait staff was very friendly. We had an early departure for Laos in the morning and the restaurant opened very early for breakfast which was wonderful as we were about to have a long day on the Mekong and a full stomach was a must.

good location”
Chiang Khong is a (very) small town at the border of Thailand. As other comments, tourists come here just for a night stay, waiting to transfer to boat trips in the morning in Laos. The hotel is good for one night. Our room is very small, but has a good view of the river.

One of the better places in town”
Chiang Khong is one of those places that you'll only end up in, as part of a journey to somewhere else. In this case you'll most probably leave Thailand the next day to enter Laos by boat over the Mekong. This hotel is a good spot to spend the night and enjoy a meal. The hotel is quite modern to local standards, the rooms are basic but have warm water and a double bed. That's all I needed after a long day in buses and TukTuk's. The cold bear and curry on the panorama restaurant with a spectacular view over the Mekong, tasted oh so good.

Great location on the river”
We stayed at this hotel before crossing the border in Laos. it was in a great location right on the river. Rooms are basic but the bed is comfortable; our room had a wonderful balcony. The restaurant has some good food at very reasonable prices. Staff are also very good.

Nice view of the Mekong River”
we only stayed one night in this hotel as part of our journey from chiang rai to laos. the rooms were just ok. best feature was the view over the mekong river to laos. the street the hotel is on is very quiet, however we ate some of the local street food which was very tasty. the food in the hotel restaurant was ok but nothing too exciting.

Lovely”
great hotel with a pleasant restaurant which had the most lovely staff. we only stayed here 1 night as a stopover before our 2 day slow boat journey into laos. alot of the people we met on the slow boat stayed in a cheaper hostel version next door for half of what we paid. but the room was great and very comfotable which is exactly what we wanted before the long journey ahead. we also bought our slowboat ticket from the hotel and they provided a mini bus service to the border.
