We’ve spent a few weeks of our honeymoon traveling the state of Sabah. Of all of the places we have visited and places we’ve stayed, this resort was our favorite. It’s cute and quaint, the chalet was very spacious, the food was delicious, the staff was kind and helpful, and our guide was MAGNIFICENT! We’ll recommend this resort to anyone interested in the Kinabatangan area. We saw all different animals during our river tours as well as during our night walks. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and he knew exactly where to look for what. What a great place!

Every day 2 river cruises are included. On the arrival day you get lunch at 1:30 pm and afternoon tea/coffee at 3:30. At 4 pm you leave for the first river cruise untill about 6:15. At 7 pm dinner is ready and the rest of the night is free time. They can take you for a night walk but this is not included. Next morning at 6 there is a small breakfast and from 6:30 to 08:30 there is another river cruise. Additional breakfast is served when you return and then the daycycle repeats. We stayed for 3 days and did 5 river cruises and saw all the wildlife we wanted. 2 cruises were even to locations to maximize the odds of spotting elephants and crocodiles as we didnt saw them untill then.

This lovely family run B&B can only be recommended... They welcome you with a smile, have nice and super clean rooms where you can easily feel well... The Best is that they care of every single trevellar and not only want to sell their fixed packages like other more expensive hotels. You can come to sukau on your own (for example also late at nigth) and book tours right up on arrival and on your own needs. even if you fell like skipping one tour, it's no problem!!! Best service ever!!! And the tours are top... we even saw the pygmy elephants... Just amazing... If you go to kinabatangan, go with greenview...

Our stay at the Borneo Nature Lodge was highlighted by are exceptional guide that was with us both Days. She picked us up at the airport and was with us the entire time as we explored the river and she pointed out a ton of wildlife. She went out of her way to help us out with every detail and every adventure and every question and every request we had. The Borneo Nature Lodge is an exceptional place and a perfect location to explore the native Flora and Fauna of this ecosystem and they are lucky to have Joanne as one of their guides. Shec was hilarious, fun and great at spotting wildlife. Somehow she could spot them better than I could even with my binoculars. She must have bionic vision or something. This is an eco-friendly resort and they even have an elephant crossing right in the middle of it so that they can move through if they need to. The rooms are about as comfortable as you will get the middle of the rainforest (very nice) and we were happy to come back to air conditioning after being out in the hot El Nino weather and the food and coffee we're all so awesome at every meal. We have had an excellent two days. The staff is super nice. The meals were home cooked, simple but so delicious. We will be Bakx next year. We walked around in the village and this really seems to be the nicest place. The rooms are simple but comfortable. Yes the pillows are a bit hard, but you will survive. It’s called Sakau Backpackers, perfect for us :) It does better than what it says on the tin to be fair. But most of all, make sure to do your boat tours through the guest house with Jann and please please please say hi from Virg and Fin!! He is so I knowledgeable, a sweetheart, a legend :) Thank you Jann!!!

We did the 3D/2N and had an absolutely wonderful time! Our guide Joe had great eyes and took extra time to show us all sorts of amazing wildlife! He was patient when taking us on the night and day jungle treks, and had a great sense of humor! The front desk and dining staff like Azlan were also very kind and friendly! I recommend bringing a long-sleeve with thick material for the jungle treks--the mosquitoes are thick and easily penetrated my merino wool shirt. Also, you will absolutely need to rent their boots, which were 11MYR. Be prepared to get bitten by a tiger leech if you go trekking. It's no big deal and the bit wound is small, but some are bothered by this idea and the anticoagulant that leeches use can worry some as you continue to bleed a bit after removing the leech. Either way, you'll love the river tours, which you can easily wear flip-flops, shorts, and a t-shirt on. The sunsets are amazing! We saw all types of wildlife!!! Awesome time!

We drove to here in a 4wd rental and it was reasonably easy to get here with google maps. You definitely need to sort your stay needs into smaller bags that can be carried up these stairs. It really is a challenging climb so you will need to be ready for it but having said that it added to the experience.The staff and management are really great knowledgeable people that were fantastic to get along with. You are treated on a personal level here. The buildings are located on top of a ridge which requires the stair climb but it does make it more authentic like you are in the jungle. One drawback is the lack of aircon in the units and only a ceiling fan which makes for a very hot temperature during the day but is surprisingly comfortable temp at night. Otherwise the units are quite interesting as you can step outside on the deck and view birds, butterflies and wildlife right in front of you. The boat trips on the river were really really good. Lots of monkeys and birds to view. Lots of fun.The restaurant is also open to the jungle so you can watch it all happening. At night some bats will even fly past you. The meals were most enjoyable and were of good quality. The pancake breakfast was amazing. If you are the adventurous type and want to have a jungle type experience but still be in a safe environment then this is a recommended place to stay. We really felt we had a jungle and wildlife experience here with a personal guide. Loved it.
