Overall: would recommend and will stay again. More than fair price. Owner is delightful and helpful. Staff: helpful, respectful, and quick to respond to needs. They knew us by name and always went above and beyond. Location: right in the middle of the bay, best location by far compared to other resorts in same bay. Room: we stayed in cottages (2) that were pool side because we wanted to have our kids monitor reach the pool when our youngest napped. Room was perfect for my wife, two kids (4yrs and 2 yrs), location was excellent. Room was well stocked. We brought our own bed for youngest and they supplied bedding for eldest. Food: excellent. Same price, better service, larger sizes, cleaner, more helpful staff than any other restaurant tried in bay. Hands down, the best in the bay. Facilities: well kept. Pool was cleaned multiple times a day (and before it opened each morning). Beach: only one cleaned by staff multiple times a day. Other resort patrons came and used ours. That speaks for itself. Cons: - though a "free" ferry service is provided, its sooooooo slooooowwww. Minor complaint, but a reality when you have two whiny kids. - Agoda, despite trying and cancelling booking twice, couldn't confirm booking with kids, it kept only showing up as adults, but no kids. This caused some challenges that were quickly solved thanks to customer service (AGODA) and solid Vongdeuan staff. - our room had a beautiful sounding bird that lived in the roof. It kept us and our kids from sound sleeps as it woke multiple times each night to remind us it lived their, too. Telling the staff didn't do much to help the cause. Again, a minor issue.

The best years are over. First impression I came - older lady at the reception desk which "welcomes" tourists with the bored face. It seems she is in the bad mood all the time. The biggest minus is - if you get villas no.30 - 34 or 35 (i dont remember exactly) - basically the ones bordering the resort from back side, you will have to listen to the disturbing wood manufactory shop, which is in the close distance. We had some flushing problems in the Villa 33. The breakfast are ok. The stuff told us they prepare more food when they got more than 30 guests in the resort. Strange policy... Taxi mafia on this island is bad - Wongduan Bay is calm and relaxed in evening - going outside means using local taxi or hire a motorcycle. The roads are not good and if you dont have advanced motorcycle skills.. Taxi is EXPENSIVE. To Sai Kaew beach, where all the nightlife is situated, it costs 500 baht there&back. Restaurants on the beach offer variety of seafood&barbecue. Average plate with the seafood (crab, squid, 4 bigger prawns and couple of mussels) would cost you 500 baht. The drinks are expensive. Big beer 120 baht. If you are active - I advice you to walk to the next beach to the south, which is Wai Beach and try hard to rent a kayak for 400/4 hours... They will start at 200/hour - if it is not high season, go and bargain... With kayak you can go more to the south around a cliff, where very beautiful beach is located - the sand and the water more clearer than Wongduan Beach...

a lovely arranged situation at the northeastern end of Wondduan Beach - well the Road to get there is real bumpy, but once you there u will love it, we had a cottage with garden view, but it was posible to view at the sea to, unfortunately the cottage doesn´t have a closet so you have to keep your stuff in your lugagge, there are hangers and a small shelf but it´s a little poor. the room is so nice, well small but lovely small in a way, you find everything you need, a hairdryer, umbrella, fridge, tv (no english programms), ac. the bathroom is also ok.the best was the food there, cheap and well, i can recommend it warmly

We had a lovely stay at C Samet Resort. Even extended our stay. Many of the other guests were "returners" who had been coming to C Samet för 10 years. I understand why. The location is perfect in the most southern part of the small bay; the waves are calmer, and the atmosphere is soothing and calm. Yet you can walk along the beach to any other restaurant within 5 minutes. C Samets own restaurant is in my opinion one of the beachs best. Excellent food in a cosy garden-like beach setup. What made our stay extra memorable was the kindness and warmth of the staff. Every day we chatted, they played with our kids and everything was really nice. Would absolutely recommend and return to The C Samet Resort!

This was my first time time to Koh Samet and we chose La Lune based on good reviews and price.  The hotel was good and clean, which os surprising considering the sand on everyone's feet.  They are little foot wash pools outside the lobby that help.  The restaurant was okay, but really shined when the evening came and they do a beach side barbeque each night. Delicious.  This hotel tended to be quieter than its neighbors and my wife and I appreciated that.  Plenty of other restaurants and mini-marts are within walking distance.  The beach was good and wide enough when tide was down.  Even when up, there was enough space for sun worshipers. The pool is clean and partially shaded at certain parts of the day.  The staff is friendly and seem to work non-stop.  So at least you can become familiar with them.  I would recommend this hotel to anyone I know wanting to go to Koh Samet. We took the Cherdchai bus from Bangkok-Ekkamai to Ban Phe. Round trip tickets were about B320 each and takes about 3.5 hours each way.  Once you arrive at Ban Phe you can walk across the street to Nuantip pier and buy a ferry ticket to Ao Wongduan.  You have to wait until they have 20 people before they go, but its not bad.  They ferry you to an initial pier, but you stay on the boat and they continue on to Ao Wongduan.  Once in the bay, you transfer to a flat boat that takes you to the beach, with a charge of B10 per person.  If you have trouble walking or getting around, I would recommend finding a speed boat that can take you directly to the beach.  Transferring between the pier - ferry - boat - beach can be tricky.  Once on the beach, you have to pay the National Park entrance fee, B40 for Thais and B200 for everyone else.  So have some cash on hand before leaving the pier.

We were on Koh Samet for 8 days. The hotel is located a couple of minutes from the beach. The beach strip in the afternoon, when there is no low tide, is wide, and in the evening warm water arrives right under the tables of numerous cafes on the shore. We went to the neighboring bay to swim and sunbathe, there are fewer people and much deeper. Bungalows we ordered a standard, consisting of 3 combined at the end of the hotel. It had everything you need: air conditioning, sink, shower, bathroom, refrigerator, TV and electric kettle. The staff thoughtfully, every morning brought 2 bottles of water and coffee-sugar. The only drawback of these 3 bungalows is poor sound insulation. The first few days everything was fine, but then it rained and frogs began to roar behind the fence with the voices of buffaloes. After 2 almost sleepless nights, a very nice and pleasant girl, the administrator, resettled us for free in a beautiful separate bungalow, for which she thanks a lot and plus in karma!
