Excellent location, influenced by Japanese minimalist style. Do note that there’s no heater, so the place can be chilly during the colder part of the year. The bed was big enough for me and my 2 kids. Interestingly our room was right next to the stairwell, so it took us a while to locate the room. One downside is that we spotted some black mould on the walls. Doesn’t bother me much as we are relatively healthy family with no history of asthma. Plus we only stayed for one night so it wasn’t a big deal. Another plus point for this hotel is its excellent breakfast - Japanese style bento, and serve supper + beer on the house! Too bad we had dinner plans else this would have been great. The hotel is also very near carrefour (5 mins walking distance). All in all, great place for great price.
I had a wonderful personal retreat at Hotel East Yilan, and it was definitely worth the price. The hotel offers a stylish interior design, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. I especially enjoyed the provided Netflix access, which made my stay even more relaxing. One of the highlights was the complimentary breakfast and supper, which added great value to the experience. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of many delicious midnight snack spots and Luna Plaza, making it easy to explore the area. However, it is quite far from the train station and definitely not within walking distance. Despite that, I truly enjoyed my stay and would recommend it for those looking for a comfortable and well-designed retreat.
I had a comfortable stay at Hotel East Yilan. The room (and bathroom) was spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable. The toilet flushes properly and was fitted with a modern toilet seat (warm seat and bidet!). The breakfast was decent and definitely a good-sized portion for us, but can get boring after a while. You do need to choose your main dish (usually a non-vegetarian and vegetarian option) and dining time the night before. However, for a clumsy person like myself, there were a few parts of the hotel where I had to be more cautious. For example, some of the walls were rough, which fits in with the hotel's industrial style decor. There is a small height difference between the floors of the lift and lift landing. Personally, the platform which the beds are on are a bit too high of a step up. My mum had an injury recently before the trip and really struggled with getting up and down from the platform. Location of the hotel is within walking distance to many places within Yilan city. About 5 to 10 mins to Luna Plaza, which is the only shopping mall. There's a very popular bakery (Yih Shun Shiuan) about 5 mins away, where you can get nice pineapple pastries, breads, etc. There's also a big Poya store right next to the hotel, where you can get personal care items etc.
Pros: - Really good breakfast set. It's like a Japanese set meal with side dishes and fruits. - Free supper from 8pm to 10pm. Oden, bao, ice cream, tea eggs. - Spacious bathroom - Water dispenser on each floor Cons - Bathroom walls are painted, and thus have grown mouldy. It feels unsanitary to hang clean bath towels against a mouldy wall. - We felt itchy sleeping in the beds. They were very apologetic and said they would clean thoroughly and change our the bedding of 1 particular bed (we didn't want to change rooms). Unfortunately, the pillows of the other bed were the culprit the next night. - QR code as room key. While this means you don't have to remember to bring a key card, you also have to refresh the QR code (expires every 300 seconds) each time you go into the lift. It's also not good when in a rush to enter your room, as sometimes it takes a few tries to scan the code properly. - There is only one lift. It's understandable since it's a small property, but if you don't like waiting... Overall, would stay again and hope they've updated the bathroom walls + better luck with the beds.

Hotel reception is situated on the second floor with rooms on third to eighth floor. Check-in was fuss free and door key was sent to the phone with QR code link. The lobby is also a dining area for breakfast but unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to eat the following morning. Room was clean and nice. Decoration was simple but good enough. The only downside was that there wasn’t a soap or hand wash at the basin. I was advised to use the shower foam instead. I’ve not seen any hotels that don’t provide handwash or soap before. Check-out was even easier. You only have to put a check-out magnet at the door and take the lift straight down to the first floor.
