Arriving from the ferry at Pulau Tuba we got the only taxi driver to ring the homestay. Being a small island everyone knew everyone and within a few minutes we arrived in pouring rain. Our host and his wife had big hearts and made us welcome straight away. We had their daughter's bedroom for our 2 nights and although basic it was comfortable with its own bedroom and bathroom. We did get bitten by a mixture of mosquitos and othwr bugs at night. So take lots of repellent and use it often. There was little tourism evident the island being mainly for fishing and farming. There was little scheduled activity so we had beach walks and watched stunning sunsets before returning to Langkowi. We were given 3 meals a day and our hosts managed to provide a good vegetarian meal each time.
Truly enjoyed my time at this rare peaceful Malay village. I didn't expect there was zero mobile network coverage, nevertheless I was really able to "disconnect" from the daily disturbances and reconnect with nature. I can never forget those afternoons I spent lying in a hammock by the beach, falling asleep listening to the sound of waves.
This was one of the most wonderful places we ever stayed. It was clean and quiet. It is located a short walk down a dirt road from a beautiful beach. Walking down the road away from the tourist area it is a surprise how fast you feel like you are entering a little village. The owners are really friendly and could answer any questions. They even helped us by calling our next hotel and speaking Malay. It was relaxing to sit on the porch and watch the sun go down over a field with a buffalo. The beach across the road from the hotel is totally empty because of a strong current. Not too bad for adults because you can stand up.
Malgré Notre déception de ne pas pouvoir faire du Snorkellîng, nous avons passé un très agréable séjour grâce a la gentillesse des gens de cette île.

“where did I stay ???”
not so easy to find, nobody at the ferry terminal didn't know where the homestay was, when i eventually arrived i still don't recognize the place none of the photos are true, this was definitely not the homestay advertised on agoda, I was very angry, still not convinced this was the my accommodation they showed me to my room i lowered my head into my bedroom, immediately looking at the very ripped thin plastic flooring, drawing my attention to the disgusting double bed it looked like one of the many buffalo around the homestay had been sleeping on it ???then showed me bathroom not good, the clothes rack in the corner of the bedroom was full of someone's clothes, the bedroom had no door just a curtain,I immediately left the house and told them im not staying here ,I wanted to leave the island as soon as possible, I eventually stay in a 4 bed dorm with outside toilet and roofless shower room, during my 2 day stay there i was totally reliant on my homestay hosts for food and drink on my 1st day i had one meal, 2nd day had 3 meals (snacks)3rd day breakfast before me escape from the island,my 1st meal was fish and rice and omelet i made it clear to them i don't like fish but i was 2 other food items containing fish after that occasion that was not good, considering i had to pay for my lunch and evening meals only 3 in total over the 2 days i was not offered any meat only rice, omelet and some cheap vegetables and 3 small bottles of water in total. The hosts was very nice people
