Ubon Ratchathani hotels & places to stay

This is a lovely hotel but too far to walk from anywhere. I arrived at the airport to be met by the free shuttle service. This was a nice surprise as there is little English spoken in Ubon Ratchathani and I wasn't looking forward to negotiating a taxi. Check in was easy and I asked about getting into town and I was rightly told that it was too far to walk and I should take a taxi. I like a challenge so I walked into town twice. It took 45 minutes each way but was ok if you carried water. There isn't much to see in town but I did visit the Night Market and tried a few things to eat which was difficult as I was the only European there and I don't speak Thai. There is also a bar in town called the WrongWay Cafe which is worth a visit - it seems to be the only bar in town. The hotel needs to improve on hard pillows, fridge doesn't get cold enough and NO WIFI IN ROOMS. I travelled Thailand for 3 weeks and this was the only hotel without room Wifi. Positives are great breakfast, friendly staff, location attached to a shopping centre with supermarket and swimming pool. The pool catches the sun from 9.00am to 4.00pm.

I really appreciated B2 and this place will always be No.1 hotel if I have to visit Ubon Ratchathani again. this is the second time and I sill happy with everything. The room is very new and clean and I really love the design and how they decorate the room, especially, when we compared on reasonable price and valuable for money to pay. The location is a bit out of town but no problem if you have car and it acceptable because that's make me can avoid busy traffic but it close to Central Plaza and government center. Moreover, the kindness of staffs from the security that provided me car park until the front staffs. They really help me with everything. One time I check in very late and they still waiting for me. And last time I check out late after 12.00 they still not charge me ;) 1 thing I really want more is hair dryer if it possible, that would be perfect!

Just 10 minutes away from airport. Central Plaza and other places are within range by taxi and you won't beleive the fare when the meter stops. You'll always have the feeling you should, and i bet you will, give a few extra 10's baths to the driver. The building type is standard but very well kept and Thai creativity is there to charm your senses modestly. Beds are super-triple king size. Water preasure excellent. Hot water a sure thing. And yes, whatever you may still feel the place be lacking will be washed away every morning during breakfast. If you cannot relate to the quality of their food, you will be missing a gastronomical gem. That's only for those who need to see a million strokes of colours in a canvas to call it art. Congratulations and a big thank you to the cookers to proudly show that simple is better, and local is best. All staff very friendly, no problems communicating. I will definitely come back if ever back to Ubon Ratchathani. Thanks!

we spend a weekend in ubon ratchathani to visit family. as i work for a tourism company i chose the tohsang because i heard about it before and stayed at the sister hotel before. for us, the location was perfect as we could walk to the temple we had to go in the morning. nearby the hotel we found a bar called @seat with live music and cheap beers (all we need in the evening). also nearby was a absolutely stunning thai massage oasis, very professional and clean in traditional thai teakwood buildings. we definitely would return to the same hotel if we visit ubon again. not like others i always found public transportation (cheap as well) and had no problem to walk to restaurants etc. the way to the airport is also not far and hotel transfers are complimentary, too!

I’ve stayed at a number of hotels in Ubon Ratchathani, let alone all the other hotels I’ve stayed in around the world on my business travels... in fact I never give reviews but this hotel deserves a special mention which I may regret later as it becomes too popular and goes up in price and rating.... I honestly wish I had discovered this jewel much earlier... staff very welcoming and very attentive... the owner is mostly present and a very nice man. Breakfast was excellent with real filter coffee compared to most Thai hotels with instant coffee rubbish. And then lunch and diner..... the hotel restaurant food is heaven, the service exquisite, the setting superb... in fact I quickly run out of superlatives to describe this hotel...

Outstanding value at walk-in price and good at the Agoda price if you need to ensure your room is booked in advance. Older building, but has recently modernised rooms and bathrooms. Very roomy 20sq.m plus 5.5 sq.m bright and airy fully tiled bathroom. Big 6 foot bed with decent cottons and good strip lighting (some would say harsh) - makes for a quite comfortable stay. This is one of the most centrally located backpacker/budget hotels in Ubon. Friendly ladies at reception. Wi-fi was speedy. Old-style small TV. Central town location means some typical Thai city noise (chanting/loudspeaker news) from 7am. Look elsewhere if you crave quiet, but I think this is excellent value if you just want a cheap clean stay. No breakfast at this price obviously. No fridge. You can get hot water for the sachets of 3-in-1 coffee they give. Big bottle of free water plus basic soap. Tips: Large popular Thai open-front restaurant (Thai-speak only) on SE corner of Phadaeng and Sapphasit roads. "Peppers" (best international food) is 10 min walk. Pandinthong is behind Ubon's largest expat bar/cafe "Wrong Way". A useful songthaew route runs outside on Phadaeng Rd if you are a single traveller on a budget. Metered phone-up taxis in Ubon are however responsive, reliable and cheap.

Ubon has a great choice of relatively new accomodation-only budget mansion hotels in the range 450 to 700 baht and breakfast-inclusive budget+ones at 600 to 900. This new one (opened late 2015) I discovered to be one of my top 4 in the latter category - the others being Bliss, Rapeepan Ville and Outside Inn. As with all these hotels you get a big 6 foot kingsize bedded bedroom (or singles) and comfortably sized bathroom with LED flatscreen TV. All have basic smoker balconies or equivalent. All have lifts, fridges, in-room freeby waters/shower stuff and plenty of free parking. They are new (newly refurbed for Outside Inn) and therefore clean and everything (shower/aircon etc) works fine. So why do I make this the number 2 in that list of 4 (with Bliss as No 1). It tops the group on style and design - boutique style rather nicely put together in a slightly male/aggressive style. The décor is urban-uber-chic grey tie-die painted plaster (overvarnished) with some rustic wood features and exposed stainless piping. Fitments are functional/attractive but rather cheap in build quality. The breakfast is good in its class* but does not have the international options that Bliss has. The TV coverage of international channels is better than Bliss (though only Outside Inn is exceptional if you want English sports and movies). Location is the best of the 4 - only 600 metres to extensive shopping/eating and ents facilities in Big C Plaza and lately the nearby Chayangkhun soi 40 has opened some good bar/restaurants with pretty table hostesses if you want! Disappointments for an international traveller would be lack of English speaking capability - a major oversight in a good budget+ hotel like this. The other 3 have notably great management/staff throughout. I note that one reviewer thought the bed was hard as a board; it's firm - certainly not the luxury softness of Bliss Hotel's beds - but I judge the comfort as firm side of medium and I had a very comfortable night. I rate

This place has the bones of a good hotel but it is let down by little things. Clunky light control panel, burnt and dirty carpets, terrible water pressure for the shower . . . The noise from the bar was a pain as was parking on the weekend. Breakfast was interesting. They tried Thai and Western and missed both. But it is what it is. Good value, comfortable and handy to everything. Why risk some of the other hotels in Ubon Ratchathani?

The receptionist couldn't speak English and instead of trying to communicate she kept on laughing at us. I'm sure she didn't mean to upset us, but it was very annoying when we tried to ask her something and the only answer we got was her laugh. Besides, the restaurant where they served the breakfast looked quite dirty, so we decided to have our breakfast at a different hotel near ours. Appart from this, the hotel was fine. The rooms were very clean but it was too bright at night because of the window facing the corridor, so you should bring a sleep mask if you need darkness to sleep. The location was very good as well because it was very close to the place where the candle festival was held. In short: it's a fine place to stay for a couple of days, but nothing else.

I considered Bliss Hotel, or Sunee Grand Hotel, but T3 House seemed the best location and value for my short stopover and I believe it was the best choice. I arrived from Pakse, Laos by express bus which dropped us off at a remarkably inconveniently located bus station on northern fringe of town where motorcycle taxis are pretty much the only transportation source on offer. Fortunately we didn't crash on our high speed, 9-minute, 80-baht motorcycle journey to T3 House and the motorcycle driver had absolutely no problem finding the hotel even though it is rather hidden down a small quiet alley. In striking contrast to the bus station, the Ubon Ratchathani airport is much more conveniently located - my taxi takes all of 7-minutes to whisk me from T3 House to the airport terminal the next morning and costs only 50 baht. The front desk staff recommended several restaurants, and I chose the nearest, Rung Roj, for dinner. It was a pleasant 5-minute walk to Rung Roj and I cut through the dark grounds of a peaceful Wat. Rung Roj is a bright family style restaurant where I enjoy the best ever Black Pepper Seafood Stir-fry and Vegetables in Oyster Sauce which was 200 baht including a large Singha beer. T3 House provided complimentary instant coffee in the lobby cafe which was a nice touch - I appreciated being able to sit in cafe area and drink the coffee along with the yogurt and banana bread I had bought at a nearby convenient store the night before. The room was very modern and comfortable and well designed. I heard a bit of noise from other guests in hallway but still slept very well. I saw the Sunee Grand Hotel as I rode in from the bus station and it did look more "grand" -- towering on the main street adjacent to a mall and Starbucks. But I'm glad I chose the more humble T3 House with its charm and superb value.

The Hotel is very well located in the centre of Ubon City. It is within 10-15mins walk to the Night Market, Moon River, Food market and the vegetarian restaurant which we went to daily. We love it's location as it is very central and convenient. It is very valued for money as the booking comes with breakfast. Breakfast is good. As we are vegetarians, the staffs cooked especially for us for breakfast, except for the few days when we went out early. Hotel is very clean and quiet. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. They even helped us to map out vegetarian restaurants nearby and wrote the Thai word of "vegetarian" for us when we first checked in. They were always approachable and prompt to the requests that we needed. Will definitely come back!

Imagine yourself wake up in centre of town, EVERYTHING you might need in Ubon Ratchathani is just reachable, yes, this hotel is. Most temples to visit ease to walk to, night market that you can enjoy local and street food is just cross street. Old restaurant worth to visit is just 3 block ahead. And if you are lazy enough hotel's restaurant is named for the best savouring taste. What are you waiting for? However, if you expecting superb and deluxe room - this place might slightly disappointed you. Room is quite old but well-maintain. Wall plug are all around. I love this place

We had stayed here before when we were visiting Udon Ratchathani. The other location we liked but was not centrally located was the Pentahug. Our evening entertainment is bowling and as part of the Nevada complex, they have very good bowling lanes. It is also very close to the Sunee Plaza which has a variety of shops and restaurants. They have a unique elevator system. One walks up to the 2nd floor to catch the elevator to the other 5 floors. The hotel is a little worn but still comfortable. When we were there, the wireless was 'down'. Nt sure how long but if you wanted to get access, you had to go to the lobby and MAYBE you would get access. They call their breakfast, AMERICAN style, but it really is not. Since I am an American, a breakfast is 2 eggs any style, toast, 2 slices of bacon, 2 sausage links, juice, & coffee or tea.

My second stay at Baan Suan. This is a perfect resort if you want to stay in the area or if you have a car. Its quiet and peaceful, staff are so helpful and friendly, good food, great swimming pool, and so cheap. Breakfast is included and its delicious, not a huge range but its more than enough to get you started for the day. If I have to go to Ubon again I will stay here again for sure.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thanks to the room being big, well-furnished, clean and with plenty of outdoor light. For the price we paid, it was an amazing deal. Yes, there is only one English TV channel, but if you came all the way to Ubon Ratchathani to watch TV, you've got bigger issues. Keep in mind the big park and in-city tourist spots are 5km from the hotel but Songthaews (pickup truck buses) run on the main street for 10 Baht. Ask the owner for a referral for a scooter shop, Jay Jay's is excellent. And definitely check out Huay Luang Waterfall, particularly the natural pools at the top of the falls.

Went to Ubon Ratchathani for one night only and found the hotel very comfortable, clean, and well decorated. The wifi was excellent. The gym was in very good condition and the staff helpful. Getting around is not difficult by taxi (we had a fabulous dinner on the river). You do need the street address to get back as Thais have trouble pronouncing the name. Breakfast was interesting, the only downside being overcooked fried eggs on the one morning we were there (might have just been the normal cook's day off...). If you like Thai food, sushi or salad for breakfast, that would be an upside.

a bit deep in a soi, but there's a clear sign for hotel direction. approx 5 min walk to get out to the main road. Good thing is it is really quiet at night. Staffs are lovely and helpful. Wifi is OK,but not so good speed for a serious user like me. There's a comment about wifi in the past, but still the same. Not a signal strength problem, but network speed problem. Probably some signal collision was causing slow transfer rate. Only 2.4Ghz channel signal. carried a laptop around the hotel and to the router, still not a good speed. I was required to transfer large files for my work, need to go out for some restaurant wifi. For general user, it is just fine. cleanliness is fine, but can be improved in the toilet walls. Free bike rent to get in town or go around.

Much can be said about the staff, but to keep things short, they are phenomenal. To start off, they speak English, which is a rarity in this area of Thailand. I was able to communicate with them flawlessly, and they were extremely kind and hospitable. The family that owns the resort actually lives on site, so they are accessible 24/7. Speaking of hospitality: for three days in a row, the owner drove me to Sam Phan Bok (a nearby attraction) for every sunrise and sunset, waking up as early as 4:30 AM in the morning. If you want to experience Ubon Ratchathani with the locals but stay in a resort like accommodation, this is the best place. There is working A/C in the room, the rooms are pretty clean, and there is a restaurant on site as well. Great location as it is only a 10-15 minute drive from Sam Phan Bok, and the nearby town. Overall, I am 100% returning to Plaifah Resort the next time I visit Sam Phan Bok!

Got a discounted rate (about $20) for New Year's Eve on drive back from southern Laos to Vientiane through Thailand. Spacious, clean rooms that look relatively new, with TV, fridge, bed-side tables (though only one with a lamp). Good, friendly service. Got there in time to order lunch before restaurant closed for the New Year, though bar service remained open to order drinks till 9pm - good range of cocktails and beers on offer, and Mexican/Tex-Mex food was a nice change. Wifi works. Bikes available. Highly recommend if you're passing through Ubon Ratchathani.

I, or we, visit Ubon regularly. Have stayed in 20+ Ubon hotels over 8 years; over 5 times now at Come Pang ('Cam Paeng'). 'Standard' upper floor rooms are typically 650. Same rooms, but called Deluxe, on ground floor with parking at door are 750ish. It's new/very clean. European quality and European comfort beds - probably best in Ubon. A six ft double in a modern and clean large room with decent fittings (tending toward the boutique style, rather than the oft-found functional). A comfortably sized and tiled bathroom with large counter/large mirror/separate shower area. Pleasant large balcony on 1st/2nd floor with table and 2 chairs. Similar seating area outside the ground floor rooms. TV has best choice of English language programmes in its class. Semi-buffet breakfast has nice touches - like the fresh fruit & the pan-fried egg hot dish choice. English-speaking skills not always evident at reception. No lift for the 2 upper floors. Slightly out-of-centre. Everything else excels!

We had a good stay at U Place, located near the main entrance to Ubon Ratchathani University. The hotel had few guests on the Sunday night we stayed there and so it was very quiet. We had a nice chat with the hotel manager, who speaks very good English and was helpful to us. WiFi worked well in our room. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom was good. There are several inexpensive Thai restaurants and street food vendors across the road from the University, an easy walk from the hotel. However, this hotel is at least 10 kilometers south of the center of the city.
