Where to stay in Negombo
Negombo hotels & accommodations

Great hotel to finish our touring around Sri Lanka at. Negombo is a little more expensive than other areas we have traveled to, but good value meals can be had a few minutes walk from the hotel. Eating/drinking at the hotel is expensive, 300SLR for a bottle of water (the same can be bought across the road for 70SLR). But the hotels facilities are great, two (very clean...

Jetwing Blue has an open restaurant concept and beautiful pools that take full advantage of the tropical trees and golden sand. You can enjoy the view as you relax by the pool or as you enjoy their delicious food. The hotel has newly renovated rooms. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and our stay was simply magical. The prices are very reasonable and the res...

This hotel was the best way to end our trip. My boyfriend and I wanted somewhere to stay that was close to the airport near Colombo, but quiet and away from everything. And this was the perfect fit. The room was clean, with cable television, comfortable beds, small nice and clean bathroom. It was perfect. The hotel's breakfast had plenty of options, but the best thing ...

I have stayed at Lagoon many times and will continue to do so. It is the best hotel in Negombo with only downside perhaps to some travellers is that it is quite isolated about 15 minutes out of town on the Lagoon side however beach is just across the road but probably can't swim here too rough. Still, two amazing pools on this property...one over looking beach and on...

We stayed @ Grandeza Hotel for one night and it was one of the best hotel experience in Sri Lanka. The whole crew was friendly and had a warm welcome. We went 1 hr before the usual check in time, but we were provided with the room quickly. The room was quite large and clean as well. And the view of lagoon from the room was marvellous. The food at Sea food restaurant wa...

Highly enjoyable stay thank you to the excellent accommodation, kind and helpful staff, clean pool and garden terrace, pool terrace breakfast, roof terrace dinning, access to the beach, privacy, safety, central location in Negombo beach. It is probably one of the best hotels in Negombo and the price is not so much higher than the nearby three stars hotels as the qualit...

I booked this sensibly priced hotel in Negombo as it is close to the airport to finish our two week tour of Sri Lanka. We liked the Goldi Sands as it was clean, modern and airy in a nice setting on the beach with a pool. The staff were also pleasant and helpful. Only negative: Recommend you buy a can of mozzie spray for the room.

Heritance is by far the best hotel in Negombo (in our opinion) The property allows easy access to the beach and has an awesome pool overlooking the beach. Negombo does not have much to do or see except the beautiful beach. It's a good thing therefore that we booked our stay at the Heritance coz it's right there. The staff were helpful and food was good. The mini bar ...

We chose Negombo as its only 15 kns from the airport and we were in Sri Lanka for a short 4 day break. we reached the hotel at 10 pm and the sound of the indian ocean and the size of the rooms and bathrooms got us in really excited. our rooms were in on the ground floor with direct access to the beach. this hotel has a narrow beach which makes it more accessible as com...

The best hotel in Negombo. Super service, delicious food. Nice and clean room. The pool is super. Double thanks for the free airport transfer. Лучший отель в Негомбо. Супер сервис, очень вкусная кухня. Красивая и чистая комната. Бассейн супер. Отдельное двойное спасибо за бесплатный трансфер из аэропорта.

I absolutely loved this hotel. I had one issue with my room. I paid extra movie for sea view and got a room where the only thing you saw was trees. I asked to be moved and they accommodated me quickly and put me in a beautiful room with a stunning view. The restaurant was cheap and food was delicious. It’s walking distance from other restaurants and the staff was very ...

I only stayed here for one night for easy access to the airport in Negombo the next day. It was my last hotel, following an 18 day tour of Sri Lanka. Ranweli is a nice beach front hotel on a private small island where you need to take a short boat-shuttle (30 seconds to cross)..from the mainland to the island. The boat ride is a charming way to arrive at the hotel. Sta...

We stayed for 2 nights here, it is well worth the money, the staff are helpfull and friendly:) The room was very nice, and the food was very good!:) You for sure get value for the money you Pay. If i should mention one thing that is a tiny bit negative, it is that the bathroom could be a Little bit more clean, but it was nice and it didnt make a difference for how we e...

Negombo beach is not the best Sri Lanka has to offer, but we enjoyed the big waves and turbulent sea during the SW monsoon. Location close to the airport makes it a perfect choice to stay on arrival and before departure. We hired a car a Colombo Kathunayake Airport but had a hard time finding Lewis Place, where the hotel is located, as there are hardly any sign boards ...

A very pleasant home away from home In May 2018 I stayed for two weeks at the Cove Beach Villa in Negombo, Sri Lanka. I was in Sri Lanka to deliver training near the airport. While the hotel only has three (3) rooms, it was very comfortable and ideal for a business traveller. Direct access to the beach was perfect. The morning breakfast was very tasty and customized t...

We checked all the other hotels in the area for ambiance ,food ,room, pool service and after the first visit and going around the island came back here as the friendly value for money with good selection of all types of food and a nice pool and pool area, the management gave us a late check out and looked after us because we came back the second time thanks so much woul...

The staff is very friendly but not intrusive. Location is great with regard to the airport but a little bit away from the negombo center. However the beach is nearby as well as a few restaurants. The pool is clean and big enough to relax after or before your journey. We enjoyed our tasteful dinner at the hotel which has a nice rooftop terrace. All in all great boutiq...

Saw out the remaining 2 x nights of our holiday here and had been to Negombo before so was a little savvy on location. On arrival you are given a juice drink at reception, so far so good, however on arrival in room the furnishings are extremely tired in need of replacing as opposed to being quaint, the shower room particularly poor with low water pressure. Also went fo...

I chose this hotel because I flew into Sri Lanka at midnight and needed 2 peaceful nights and a restful day before heading down to Colombo for work. It was perfect for this. Small hotel with banquet/wedding halls nearby - but the weddings are not intrusive. Garden setting. Friendly staff. Very clean hotel. Large rooms with good size balcony. Adequate sized swimming poo...

We stayed two nights at Miura Dutch hotel during a 7 day trip to sri lanka. The staff was amazing (Sarang was a one man army!). They offer one-way airport transfer. We left 4:30ish to catch a 7:30 flight and the owner/manager drove us himself (very convenient). Mr Nirmal was extremely helpful in letting us use his office resources so we could modify one of our future...

Unbelievably delicious Sri Lankan breakfast, best food we had in 3 week trip; Really polished, stylish, modern room, excellent bed, wonderful interior design, bathroom top notch; nice balcony, but limited view; staff are really warm, welcoming, helpful. We were disappointed with some other hotels around Sri Lanka, but this place was really perfect. About 15 min free ta...

This charming hotel has the best beachfront and street position in Negombo and is only a short tuktuk or taxi ride from the airport. Ideal for a short stay on arrival or before departure. There are good bars and restaurants within a short walking distance. The view out to sea is unobstructed and this whole magnificent length of beach is pretty clean and uncluttered....

During my trip to Sri Lanka I stayed at 9 different hotels across the country with most of them being 4 star hotels. Out of these Villa Kapuru was by far my favourite. The warmth and hospitality of the guys working here go beyond what other places offer. Dennis who is one of the 3 guys that run the hotel, goes out of his way to not only make you feel welcome, but makes...
Cheap places to stay in Negombo

A great location, just off the Negombo Beach Road means its a quiet location. We had a room at the back with a small balcony, which was good for drying clothes. Big bathroom and probably the best mosquito net in Sri Lanka. Very friendly family, warm, welcoming and extremely genuine. On our morning in Sri Lanka they didn't disappoint with a superb Sri Lankan break fast...

Felt at home when I was greeted by the front desk guy and "uncle" who was helping clean the hostel. Such a sweet old man! The morning front desk guy was also sweet- they really went out of their way for me to feel safe who's a first time female solo traveler in Sri Lanka. Helped me with currency exchange, getting an honest tuktuk ride, breakfast, etc. The only awkward ...

We stayed one night at Barracuda. The rooms are very small, but with fantastic new bathrooms and comfy beds. The undercover area where breakfast is served is great for sitting around chatting and you have use of the kitchen. Breakfast was simple, but fine to start the day. We moved the next day because the rooms are fan only and it was very hot in Negombo when we were ...

Firstly, Mr. Denis, the owner, is one of the most helpful and friendly person that I've ever met in Sri Lanka (believe me, we were there 3 months and some of our experiences weren't nice). He's given us a very good advice where to go, what to see, what to avoid. He speaks very good English (his wife is an English teacher ). He's stored our luggage for a three months, t...

We had a one night stop before our flight from Colombo. The hotel is located on the main street next to Jetwing Sea, so its easy for all drivers to find. A bigger part of the restaurants and shops are some 1,5 km away, though all along this street you find places to eat so no worries. It means its a bit more quite here. The hotel has 6 rooms and the rooms are very clea...

arrived quite late evening, due to rain I took tuktuk, otherwise is just walking distance from train station. only stayed for one night at dormitory room, good choice if you just arrive Srilanka or going abroad next morning, very near to airport & Negombo city

My husband and I stayed here at three times during our time in Sri Lanka. Right away we felt like we were home. The rooms are big and clean and quiet (it's not right on the road so the traffic sound is minimal). There are great restaurants from fancy to local spots right outside in the road, places to buy tea, fresh juices, souvenirs, and daily staples like water and s...

My host was so kind and helpful. She was there for me all the time I needed her. The sandwich I got for breakfast was not that much but quite tasty. The Bed was very comfortable. Just a bedcover was missing but it doesn't matter at that temperature. Great stay! Maybe I come back before leaving Sri Lanka!

I arrived and the place has no sign, I think it's still new. I had booked a female dorm. The owner tried to put me in a 4 bedroom dorm with 3 guys. When I told her I had booked a female dorm she brought me to an empty dorm with about 8 beds. I guess she sleeps in one of the rooms if there are no guests. Otherwise she takes the couch in her living room/hotel common area...

Very close to the airport which is why I booked this place. The owner came to the airport to pick us up, even though it was the middle of the night! Very kind owner, he also dropped us of in Negombo city center the next day to catch a bus to Colombo. The room itself is basic but clean and has a mosquito net. It’s really close to the airport which means you’ll hear som...

Lovely welcoming family, comfy bed, close to airport. If you’re fussy you may dislike due to cold water only in bathroom and lack of AC (although you can pay more). Didn’t bother me. It was hot enough during the day to only want a cold shower and cooled down enough in the evenings

As a solo female traveller landing at midnight I wanted to find something relatively close to the airport so that I did not have to go into COLOMBo on my own late at night. This guesthouse was the perfect place for me to come and relax after 24 hrs on a plane. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgable on what to do in Sri lanka and how to get around. Rooms very ...

Great first night in Sri Lanka! We arrived so tired and Lalith picked us up in the airport (14$) and in 15/20min we were at their home. Very clean room and bathroom private. We didnt need the AC as the ventilator was more than enough (also there is an extra charge for the ac, as it happens all around in SL) We decided to have bfast (extra) and dinner (extra) and it was...

We arrived from the airport close to midnight, but that was not a problem to our hosts. We awoke to the birdcalls in the garden in the morning and after a nourishing breakfast were given good advice with regard to our transport options. A great introduction to the friendliness of the people of Sri Lanka.

We were scammed by the taxi driver from the airport so Amare the host was immediately on the phone to the cops and a bunch of other people and it was all resolved within half an hour and our money had been recovered. He is also a fountain of info and an all round good, generous bloke.

if you decide to live somewhere close to the negombo beach and not so far from airport for a few days at the beginning of your Lanka trip, Hil4residence will be your best choice! the room is extremely organised and the staff is super helpful! we have lived for 4 days, nice view of the garden, and very close to the beach about 1.4 km, as well as you can avoid the nois...

This is an amazing find - I used to live in Sri Lanka and have been coming back for 28 years but have never stayed in or near negombo - it's not the nicest part of the island at all . But this resort is a little bit of heaven. Superb staff - Jay was wonderful , lovely owners and wonderfully stylish and tasteful. For 3-4 days you wouldn't want to leave - a perfect plac...

we stayed there on our last night, before flying back home. the hotel is well hidden and not easy to find, but only a 15 minutes drive away from colombo airport. it is a little treasure and we were all positively surprised. the staff was very friendly, competent and always tried to help. the food was excellent and prepared with a lot of fantasy so that the eye too was ...

Sri Lanka is very expensive for accommodation relative to the cost of living so this place was a great find. This was the best value for money I found in Sri Lanka though I booked very late so got a good discount. Really good food and a very relaxing and private location. Ideal for a stop before or after flying out of Colombo.

Its amazing. This is the first hotel I stayed in Sri Lanka with clean wash-let. Separate shower, very good smell, If I tell shortly its look like a Japanese standard hotel. If some one need to stay in Japanese stranded hotel in Sri Lanka I recommend with full confidence. In the hotel had huge Ayurveda hospital, Yoga and meditation studio and more than 7 spa rooms. Doct...

We chose the Rainbow Lagoon Villa primarily because it was close to the airport but away from the hustle and bustle of the town of Negombo, and were not disappointed! The villa is great for those wanting to stay close to Colombo, and not far away from the airport – we stayed there for 3 days after a week in Kandy before catching the flight back to Chennai, on our way h...

Dickman Resort is a classy, secluded resort hotel for adults in the beach area of Negombo , Sri Lanka. It is within easy walking distance of the beach and the main strip where there are numerous good restaurants and interesting shops. It is an easy tuk-tuk ride to the historical area of Negombo.

This is a great hotel. Brand new, clean, unique decor, every room is different. The good size pool is a bonus and we used it every day. The food rates high and at a very reasonable price.. Staff friendly and welcoming. Best hotel we stayed in whilst in Sri Lanka.

Only stay in Negombo if you need to be close to the airport. Much better beaches down south. This beach water has brown murky water. Not far away the fishermen and pollution leak waste into the sea. It's quite touristy nearby with the shops and restaurants - although plenty of choice. Nevertheless, for a stay in Negombo before departure or upon arriving and bef...

We had stayed for only 1 night, and we really wish we could stay longer! The villa is perfect! Very clean and beautiful architecture, with Christmas decorations to meet the Xmas atmosphere. The owner there, Mr.Dulshan, is really nice and kind. He provides us a perfect moment of the first night in Sri Lanka. He mentioned few times, to stay as my home in Srilanka, and ...

Best hotel in Sri Lanka. Ask for a guy his name is Rizawan he is very helpful. They have good chif who knows how to come his name Ameer. Also they offer Halal food .Very clean place they will advise you where to go in Sri Lanka also they will make other reservations in Sri Lanka. Highly recommend

had a problem with this Hotel. I booked one night at Lotus Blue Cabanas We arrived very tired after 13 hours travelling, we went with the taxidriver to that place, but it doesn't exist, we looked for Lotus Blue Cabanas around the area, we asked to another tuk tuk drivers, a local people but they never heard about this place. So, after 1 hour looking around, we decide...

Wonderful hotel. The staff was excellent, the best staff we encountered in Sri Lanka. They were very accommodating. They helped us arrange Tuk-tuks and the car to the airport was included in the price. You need to take a tuk-tuk to the beach, but it's well worth being away from the hustle and bustle. The food was incredible, we ate here two nights and we very pleased....

We booked the master bedroom and it was massive. It was literally an entire floor to ourselves with our own private pool. The toilet is huge and has an amazing Jacuzzi. All in all everything was wonderful. The staff was lovely but when i requested for a table for a private dinner in our patio by the pool as they have advertised on Agoda with their pics and because it w...

A lovely spot - however it is important to have mosquito management in order - putting the insecticide vapouriser next to the bed head is not an option - the rooms should come with a warning that the mosquitoes come from the bathroom and it would be best to sleep with insect repellent.

I have been to Sri Lanka Three times, I usually stay at the top hotels in Colombo during my stay. While searching for a hotel for this trip I found Suriya Resort online, I was quite unsure about the property as pictures posted online are usually deceptive, but I still wanted to give it a go because it looked beautiful in the pictures. When I arrived at the resort I was...

We booked this hotel to spend our last night and day in Sri Lanka after almost 3 weeks of visiting the country. I loved its fusion menu, prepared with fresh ingredients, and found the service to be attentive, nice and well trained. We noticed right on arrival that this is...

After booking the room correctly on agoda, we were contacted by the host asking for more money as he said it was not the rate he had set up in the system. The host insisted that he had not listed rooms which aircon, when shown the listing on the phone ...

This house was absolutely incredible! We were the only guests so we had the house all for ourselves. The house was sooo beautiful and the room super cosy! The bed was really great to sleep in and the bathroom was really luxurious. We had a great night there and I recommend this to everyone. Also, the place is really close to the center so it’s nice to go out. The host ...

A strip of what is rapidly becoming a Sri Lankan over developed Costa Brava - even Tesco's and Asda's are there!
Wave sounds come from the sea. I like this strong wave from the sea. There are a lot of seafood restaurants around this area.
It's a convenient beach stop near Colombo, but the beach isn't wonderful for swimming as it's a working fishing beach.
Can't comment as have only stayed in Negombo twice as a stop over after a flight in. Good location to airport.
many churches, guess local people main religion are Catholics & Christian, quite enjoying time to visit around those chuches to see around there.
Negombo is very popular for it's fresh sea food and nightlife. Locals and foreigners are love this place alike.
Very dirty beach. Nothing to do in this area. At 10 everything is closed and no one in the road. Felt unsafe.
Best is to take city tour in tuc-tuc. DO NOT pay the first price!!! Haggling is a must. IF I returned to Negombo, I would only go there to 1-2 days.
beach is the main attraction here. but its not the sea. the big sand beach is the attraction. you can find sri lankan Yatchs here.
Negombo is not the nicest part of Sri-Lanka despite the really convenient location near the airport. Mirissa beach, 2h from the airport by bus is undoubtly better.
Just love the atmosphere. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. We are 2 single women, and loved the huge choice of shops, cafés and bars.
Negombo is flying under the radar for the present. It is very friendly, relaxing and has much to offer if you slow down and look around the place.
MORE OF A RETIREMENT CITY BUT NICE MY REASON TO STAY AT NEGOMBO WAS DUE TO THE PROXIMITY TO COLOMBO AND SOUTHERN SRI LANKA AT A LESSER PRICE THAN WHAT I WOULD HAVE HAD TO PAY HAD I STAYED IN COLOMBO
Negombo is a quiet place - the inhabitants once known are friendly. The Tok Tok drivers need to be regulated as there are no safe guards for tourist from fleecing.
Try to see as much of the nature as possible. You can see the places of worship and walk on the long coast lines.
Negombo, which is only a short drive from the airport. Negombo itself was excellent lazing on the beach, chatting to the locals and drinking.
Near to the air-port,good beaches but only the main road to walk down to see a few shops and restaurants .
It is a good place to visit. The old fish market gives a good sense of the culture of Negombo. If you visit, ask for Jo-kim.
Just stay one night if you are arriving late at night as this city is very close to the airport. Nothing else much.
This was my 3rd visit it Negombo, and indeed Sri Lanka, the city is very vibrant, and bustling with people, and shop vendors only to happy to show you their wares,it also boasts a magnificent train station with regular services into Columbo, the beach area is near by with buses running from the main terminal in the city,it is big enough, but small enough to walk around
A very good city to either start or end your trip as it is close to the international airport. has good choices of local restaurants, travel agencies are plenty around.
I usually stay near the lagoon as i am not keen on beaches.Negombo is a very small town where you can shop if you want.
Negombo city is just a city. Recommend to stay at the beach area. Lots of accommodation to choose from.
We went to Negombo on our last day in Sri Lanka. It was a relaxing ending to our perfect trip. We stayed at the Jetwing Beach Hotel and walked around a little in the streets and visited the small shops which was a really nice experience.
