Napier hotels & places to stay

The best value for money of any motel have stayed at in New Zealand. Chose a unit without a view since it was cheaper and only staying one night. Were amazed at size and amenities. Large separate lounge with a single bed to the side, kitchenette with microwave and hot plates, separate bathroom with shower, large separate double bedroom with big circular spa. On the waterfront, round 10 minute stroll to city centre, plenty of cafes handy and very obliging staff - manager only too happy to print out forms and email, give directions etc. We were sorry we weren't staying longer.

Don't be put off by reviews criticising the parking. Yes, there are limited spaces but the worse that can happen is you pay 5 NZ dollars to park right across the street. We had a very comfortable stay at a reasonable price in this hotel. Super comfy bed, quiet air conditioning and very good wifi signal. The hotel is also attached to Portofino Italian restaurant and is very conveniently located for central Napier.

The hotel was lovely, we stayed in the old Heritage section of the hotel one night which had the old world charm including chandelier and working gas log fire. We also spent one night in the new section of the hotel. The room was like brand new, very clean with comfortable King bed. The hotel is well placed for restaurants and the boutique 47 seat theatre showing all the latest movies. It is only a short drive past thePort of Napier to the centre of Art Deco Napier.

This hotel is clean, comfortable, modern, in an excellent location, as well as having first class staff. I stayed here last week and was looked after very well. The beds are great, air conditioning is perfect, towels and bedding top shelf, bathroom is great. The Management, Kylie, was very responsive to my needs at the time. Always a friendly face with a "can do" attitude. I recomment this hotel to all visitors in Napier/Ahuriri.

We had a great stay at the beach front motel as the name suggests we were located right at the beach front. Shops cafes and restaurants were only a short walk away. The rooms were excellent comfy beds and clean facilities. Staff were also very friendly and helpful with anything we needed. We would definitely recommend staying here and would stay again if we return to Napier.

Located along Kennedy Road, which is the major thoroughfare into Napier's CBD and Marine Parade and just a short distance from the Napier - Hastings Expressway entry ramp, the motel is very well located for those who have their own transportation. The décor of the cabins may be dated and in need of renovation, but at the price, one should not complain. The ability to do light cooking in the cabin will be much appreciated by those so inclined. Nearby facilities include a mini mall with supermarket, laundromat, takeaway and other sundry shops. The friendly staff are an added bonus.

Our mid-February stay here coincided with for the start of Napier's 'Art Deco' weekend. The town was immersed in the `30's. Historic cars and their owners dressed in period were everywhere. It was Napier's annual spotlighted weekend. Needless to say when I was trying to book lodging months in advance, there was nary a place to stay. I was lucky to book the last room facing Marine Parade ... an 'Executive Suite' at the Nautilus Hotel. The property is a bit dated, but our room was spacious and comfortable. It had a large balcony with ocean and parade views. Even better, it had a large Jacuzzi style spa which more than fit the both of us just fine. As this was our first time in Napier AND we had no idea of the goings on for 'Art Deco' weekend, we were glad the staff filled us in on all the particulars. They were most accommodating and made our stay at the Nautilus even more special. I would love to come back to Napier. When I do the Nautilus Hotel will be on my 'A' list.

I loved it. It was one of the best I've stayed in and has good facilities. Great atmosphere, it was QUIET and not a backpackers for partygoers (hurray), and very, very clean. The manager Soo was such a dear, really helpful and friendly. The free and fast WiFi made me a very happy and well connected traveller. This hostel has such value for money. I wish I could bring the hostel with me all over New Zealand.

quest napier hotel located right in the middle of the town centre. there are many nice restaurants and cafe just at a stone throw away from the hotel. the rooms were very clean and well decorated. the staffs of the hotel are very friendly and helpful, especially towards making sure that your stay is a good one. i also find that it was nice to have a reading room right next to the lobby. besides newspaper, magazine, there is also a complimentary coffee machine in the room. it is nice to have a cup of coffee after a day of shopping.

Overnighted in Napier on our way to Wellington. The receptionist was lovely and showed us to our small cabin in the back lot. It had everything we needed - king bed, kitchen, large shower with amazing water pressure and sky tv on a good sized tv. The econo lodge has an Asian restaurant and a bistro pub on site. We didn’t try the bistro, but the food looked good when we walked through on our way to the Pak Asian restaurant. We had a delicious meal at the Pak and would highly recommend it. The receptionist also turned out to be our waitress and she was excellent. The restaurant was busy the entire time we were there.

I would like to express a hearty thank you to husband and wife team operating this hotel who had a very 'make yourself at home' approach towards their guests. It was nice to be part of a more homely setting. The room was great as were all the usual amenities including- for the room I booked - the separate bathroom and jacuzzi bath. Breakfast was very generous and cooked to order. Fantastic value for money!

This room was clean but claustrophobic. When I complained we were told that we had the smallest room in the place but they didn't have anything else available. The bed was about 3 inches from the wall on one side. There was no place to put the luggage. If we were both up at once, we tripped over each other. It did have a small kitchenette which was well stocked. I think that the hotel is probably okay if you get a larger room. The room we had was way overpriced for what we got and I would not stay in it again. Also, we were out of range for the "free" internet. We never did get it.

Staff here are friendly and happy to share recommendations for wineries and restaurants. Rooms are spacious and well maintained with a large bathroom and a well provisioned kitchenette (quality coffee and plunger!). Beds are comfortable with lots of big, soft pillows and crisp sheets. Good location – not in the centre of Napier (10 minute drive) but only a short walk to harbour front restaurants and bars. Wifi was great too! I would be happy to recommend Fairley to anyone looking for good value accommodation in the area.

This motel is situated in the outer suburbs of Napier. The surroundings are very pleasant and contribute to the quiet ambience of the motel. Although a suburban property, it is hot all that far from Napier locales if you have a car. The public transports seems to be a bit wanting in the city so independent transport is necessary. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the manager made me feel at home as soon as I arrived. It was just a little difficult to find reception immediately upon entering the building as it was across the foyer and through the door. The room was spacious and clean as was the attached bathroom. Everything needed in a hotel room was there. Cooking facilities were provided in a communal kitchen beside a communal dining area. The kitchen facilities were very clean, a testament to both the management and the guests. There was adequate off-street parking. There are a couple of things I would suggest: 1. Maybe the room doors could be fitted with security chains. This allows a guest to open the door to visitors to see who is knocking without running the risk of having an unwelcome visitor pushing on through. 2. Some basic instructions could be posted on the kitchen wall near the microwave explaining how to use it. Not all microwaves are created equal and some are less intuitive when it comes to operation than others. However, these a small points and they did not detract form my enjoyment of the facilities. The motel has a couple of unique features that made it stand out: the door number plaques each feature a bird which is replicated on the key tag, and the knick-knacks from bygone years used to decorate the hall and lounge such as the gramophone (which still played 33s), and old treadle sewing machine and other bits a pieces. Nice work. I would certainly consider this property again on a return visit to Napier.
