"It’s an older facility, so that applies to the furniture, rugs, and common areas as things are worn. It’s not a honeymoon hotel, or upscale. But it is a great value and well located with immediate access to the freeway system, airport, and beach communities. It has a nice pools, tiny convenience store, and restaurant on site. It’s not a walking area, but by car, you are very close to endless restaurants, shopping centers, beach communities, and so much more. I personally like to use Yelp to find new restaurants, related comforts, and venues. It’s not a five star hotel, nor a dive, but appropriately rated 2.5 to a 3 star hotel, and at a location that makes it very convenient providing that you have your own transportation. This isn’t a resort setting with pool service and beach access, so avoid making the mistake of expecting this to be something other than a decent hotel with minimal amenities. "

"The social room on the 1st floor is awesome, it feels like a bar atmosphere and I thought it was one at first where you order drinks etc.. That said, I don't think can justify paying over $50 a night for a dorm bed in a hostel, but maybe that's just because it is Los Angeles. Pricey spot."

"The Kawada Hotel is in Downtown Los Angeles. The location is prime. Standard rooms are small but comfortable. Mine even had a kitchenette and small refrigerator. Smoking rooms may be available on request. If you feel like having a small snack, there are vending machines. Staff are professional and helpful. For example, the receptionist gave me my room around 9:30 AM even though check-in time is in the late afternoon. The Kawada Hotel is a couple blocks away from the Civic Center subway station (red and purple lines). I am convinced that this hotel offers excellent value for money and would try to book it again when I return to Los Angeles. "
