"It seems a little bit pricey for the average traveler but Kota Kinabalu is more expensive than Peninsular Malaysia in general and it costs far less than Meridien. But if you have a bit to spare, it's well worth it for the size of the room, the amenities and the location is fantastic. Lots of food options within in walking distance - if you need to get to a mall Centrepoint is just across the road, Imago is 5 minutes away by cab. Use GRAB cab wherever you go - it costs far less. The waterfront, boardwalk dining options & massage, market etc are all nearby. The Warisan area that it is located in seems a bit foregone but you can walk around it and it doesn't seem dangerous or dodgy. If you are heading out to the isladns, the jetty is also not far away. Best bet for Kota Kinabalu (even when I had to go for a conference in UMS I stayed in Klagan). "

"One of my preferred hotel in kota kinabalu. It is located just outside the busy boundary of kk city centre. Basically you are outside from the busiest part of the town yet you still can walk by foot to the city cemtre and by car, it only took 2 minutes (this because of the traffic light). The service is great, the staff is doing the best that they can to provide comfort. The room is spacious. The room is clean but it look a bit old. There is a nice view from our hotel window. We can see the busy kk town center and at the same time we can see the beautiful view of mount kinabalu. The breakfast is nice. There is a lot of variety to choose from. The restaurant environment somehow make me feel like i am home. Maybe because i have stay in this hotel quite a few time already. I love the lobby environment. The tapai lounge provide variety of drinks and nice relaxing music. You would definitely need to go the bar and relax with your family. I would highly recommend this hotel for family or couple who just want to relax yet at the same time want an easy access to town center. "

"The best part about it was the environment of the hostel, they were really comfortable and cozy feel, great after a long day of sightseeing/shopping we had no trouble sleeping! The bedrooms were basic, but had everything you needed for this price point. The wash rooms were very new and clean, and it equipped with hot water, toiletries, and even hair dryer, basically everything you needed for a refreshing shower after a long day of exploring outside. For us the best bit was the location and the price. The location was great for us as we mainly visited the downtown of Kota Kinabalu, it was walking distance to tourist attractions such as waterfront KK, local flea market, and major shopping malls. We actually ended up walking most places, even down to Suria KK and jesselton point, but we did take a grab back! The most annoying thing about walking is having to cross the street every block, as the traffic is kind of busy at the area, which can add a lot of time onto a journey."

"My husband and I visited this hotel during a short stay in Kota Kinabalu. We were pleasantly surprised by the position of the Hotel between two big shopping malls and on the seafront. The reception area is very grand and the door men always provided a 5 star service for this 3 star hotel by holding the door for you as you came in or left. We were lucky enough to be upgraded from a standard room to a suite and the room was a great size with a nice desk, comfortable chairs and two beds (one double and one single). Whilst other reviewers say that for great views, you need to be on a higher floor, we were on the 2nd floor and were still able to see the sea out of our window which we hadn’t expected because of the reviews. All the bedding was spotless and the bathroom and shower was huge. The corridors were very large and spacious too and it gave the feeling of being in a very grand hotel. Even though it is stated to be 3 star, it felt more like a 4 star. The breakfast choice was just okay. We didn’t fancy asian food for breakfast (which there was a lot of) so the options were beans, eggs and toast which was okay. My husband actually asked if they had any cereal and they did bring us both some cornflakes but you need to ask for it if you like cereal. There was also fruit too. We weren’t really impressed with Kota Kinabalu itself but its handy as a base to use before doing trips to the Islands or Mt Kinabalu and if you love shopping you will love it! Would thoroughly recommend the Gaya Centre Hotel as a good place to stay in KK! "

"The Pacific Sutera (silk) is probably the best Resort hotel in Kota Kinabalu. What they dont tell you in the website is that you can also enjoy the pool areas of the MAGELLAN And their members only "marina" (great for the kids!). THe Marina is the only pool area that has the slides, so if you plan to stay here at the PAcific, walk around the boardwalk - its good excercise and make the huge complex a bit closer to each other. "the horizon hotel in kota kinabalu is situated in the heart of the city close the istanza, the sabah governor’s residence. it’s a new hotel, being only 4 months old. but don’t let that dissuade you from staying here. the general manager, philip d. theseira, who i would now count as a good friend, has a top rate staff. all are very welcoming, polite and most helpful; addressing you by name as to go about your business. they even moved me to a new room, because i couldn’t establish an internet connection in my original room. rooms are spacious having king sized beds, a small area for sitting and relaxing, and large walk in showers. larger rooms are also available for those with children. but the room size i had was perfect for the duration of my stay. the hotel has three levels of secure private parking, which is free to hotel guests. in addition there is a swimming pool and well equipped gymnasium on the sixth floor, allowing for mostly uninterrupted views out across the bay. these are used at the guest’s own risk, as there are no staff or life guards present. the two excellent restaurants, give the guest a choice of food styles from around the region, as well as international cuisine. however please be aware that all food is halal, so there is no pork available on the menus. with its situation in the centre of the city; it’s only a short walk to all the shopping malls, restaurants and bars. i never had to use a taxi once, preferring to walk around and see all that was on offer. it’s also ideally located to all the scuba dive centres that offer very reasonably priced diving off the islands of gaya and sapi. i’ve already planned my next stay, if for nothing else, but the convenience. but that’s not the only reason of course. "My stay at Tune Hotel 1Borneo Kota Kinabalu is very positive. This is my second visit to the same hotel after a couple of years. But this is my first stay through Agoda.com and I find the service from both the online booking to actual staying very good. Room is small but equipped with all the essentials. I am glad that I had the air-conditioning as it is a bit tough without it. But still, it is reasonable in pricing. I was here for a seminar and having the hotel located right in the shopping mall itself made it feel integrated and easy to find things that I need."
