Exceptional”
Great location and within easy walking distance to old town, Saturday and Sunday night market. Just around the corner from the night bazaar. The whole of Chiang Mai is very quiet as travellers start to come back. Many restaurants and shops that rely on tourists are closed. Eating out at the night market is the best bet. It's also cheap and you have a variety of food options. Overall can't complain due to the situation after the covid lockdown.

Quiet beautiful gem hotel near city centre”
This traditional lanna style boutique hotel offers all you need for a perfect family holiday in Chiang Mai. Large beds, big bathroom and OK breakfast. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Coming to Thailand for more then 20 years, this is one of the best places I have stayed in Chiang Mai and will definitely come back.

Small and comfortable hotel”
A small and friendly hotel in a good position. Nice big comfortable rooms and a nice pool. Looks more like a traditional wooden house and feels more in keeping with Chiangmai. Breakfast adequate, but a bit uninspired. Coffee was dreadful.

Above average”
Architecture is nice but the hotel has seen better days. Staff was nice but the rooms and bathrooms in particular need renovation. Definitely too expensive for what it is.

Acceptable”
Room facilities is quite old already, old pillow and old bed. Probably they are not ready yet for opening of tourism. Shower water pressure is very slow. Breakfast is good and helpful staffs.

Secret Exposed”
My wife and I had a wonderful 4 night stay at Banthai Village. It is a boutique hotel and the best way of describing our experience is "intimate". The rooms are fantastic - we were upgraded to a suite alongside the pool. Huge King size bed, spacious lounge area, well appointed bath area with large bath and shower - lovely touches with decor. A lovely outdoor dining area and bar - with a library above the bar overlooking the pool - are on one side of the pool; half a dozen loungers; tree surrounded. It was hard to believe we were in a city. The service from the staff is the very best we have experienced in our many years of travel - they seemed to anticipate our every need but were unobstrusive. In the late afternoon early evening students play traditional Thai musical instruments. Imagine lying on a sun-lounger as the sun sets, drink in hand served so beautifully, listening to the quiet tones of traditional music - sooooo realaxing. Actually the atmosphere at the hotel is so intimate and relaxing it is hard to venture outside it. Although there were others staying in the hotel it certainly at no stage felt crowded as resorts often do. The office staff are well informed and read your needs quickly - we found their advice accurate and very helpful. If you do venture out you will find the famous night market is a 5 min stroll away, restaurants alongside the river about 10 minutes - the Riverside is one worth a visit, the old village is a 3-5 minute walk in the other direction. There is a good laundry on the hotel doorstep and Tuktuks and taxis available outside. We have stayed in Chiang Mai on several occasions (and in Phuket many times) the Banthai Village surpasses everywhere we have stayed by miles. We will be back. A small warning DON'T be put off by the road entrance into Banthai Village - it is truely a hidden treasure like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

Beautiful, relaxed hotel and really friendly staff”
We had a great time at Banthai Village Hotel! The beautiful hotel is tucked away in a quiet area near Chiang Mai's old town. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the hotel has a good restaurant and bar. The rooms are clean, large and comfortable and of a high standard. Both the old and new towns are within walking distance of the hotel, and the airport is only a 15-20 min drive away (the hotel can organise a taxi give some notice) all of which make Banthai Village Hotel an ideal place to stay in Chiang Mai. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our family and friends.

A surprise treat hidden down Soi 3.”
The Banthai Village Hotel was not the usual type of hotel that i would stay in while traveling. I opted for something different and unique and this small hotel certainly delivered. The hotel is small (which is a plus) and tucked away down a small soi near the famous Chiang Mai night market (5-10 min walk). The architecture was traditional wooden building but very elegantly done with all rooms seemingly having a prime view onto the beautifully tended gardens and pool. Rooms were spacious enough, well designed (with a rustic antique Thai feel to them) and spotlessly clean. Staff were at all times helpful and courteous. The breakfast bar was somewhat basic, but the food was fresh and tasty. Overall, I left the Banthai Village feeling very satisfied with my stay there feeling that I would gladly stay there again. Surely there can be no better compliment to a hotel than to wish to return.

Absolutely wonderful”
I love this hotel & will definitely be back in a few months & stay in Banthai Village. Will recommend this hotel to friends who are planning to visit Chiang Mai. The staff are very friendly & are always willing to help you for directions to places you may want to go. One more good thing about this hotel is they could arrange a tour for you if you want to visit temples, elephant camp, garden, hilltribe villages & many more.. The only comment I have for this hotel for improvement are the mosquitos. Must think of a way to eliminate or at least lessen the presence of mosquitos. But overall I had a great time at Banthai Village!

Amazing experience Again, With A Bit Of Unhappines”
I also love my stay in Banthai Village and I am returning to this hotel for the 3rd time. The great experience begins when you arrive at the reception. Greeted with a lovely ice cold drink, the check-in process was fast and easy. Front desk staff will explain in details the popular areas in Chiang Mai, where to eat, shop, how to go to each destination etc. They will also offer what tour packages are available to see certain attractions in Chiang Mai. What has changed during this trip is that I realize Banthai have started to charge on small little things. Example, we will need to pay for a bucket of Ice, need to pay for calls made from the front desk etc. In my opinion, they could have lost their niche against their competitors within the same vicinity.

Exceptional”
We had a good stay at Banthai Village for about 15 days. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the place was kept clean everyday. We enjoyed our Thai style rooms. It was an oasis of come in the middle of bustling Chiang Mai and we always felt we were coming home after a day out walking back down the narrow streets to Banthai. We very much enjoyed the breakfasts served there, it had plenty of variety, fresh fruits, and importantly coffee. The planted areas and central courtyard with the dining area and swimming pool were wonderful. We found it to be a central location that was easy to launch our expeditions from. Definitely would stay there again should we come back to Chiang Mai.

Lovely hotel and great location.”
It was a very pleasant surprise to find the BanThai Village tucked away up a small soi in central Chiang Mai. It is small with traditional architectural accommodation blocks arranged around a landscaped courtyard where the swimming pool and bar/restaurant are located. We asked to change our room as the air conditioner didn't work very well and the staff were very accommodating and met our requests with a smile, moving our luggage when we went out to dine in the town. The staff are all very friendly and polite, speak perfect English and were very helpful. We had an early flight so they provided an excellent breakfast "box" as we had to leave before breakfast is served. The food is more than adequate and there is a well stocked bar at very reasonable prices. The rooms are comfortable but not luxurious but we didn't want International 5* rooms - we wanted something simple, comfortable and with a local flavour, which we got! I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Second time to Stay at this hotel”
This was my second time staying at Banthai Village and I would definitely stay there again. It's in a great location within Chiang Mai, walking distance to the Night Bazaar and various shops and dining along the main road. You can also walk to the Old City gate from the hotel. The room was fine, I traveled with my mother and we both enjoyed the hotel grounds, and the pool and breakfast. I will say this about my second visit to this hotel. While the room I had this time was fine, the bathroom situation was sub-par. Our toilet kept clogging and we were told not to throw paper in the toilet. I understand the system is weak throughout Thailand but at a hotel, to tell us not to throw paper in the toiled was unsatisfactory. Then our shower/tub was unique in itself. You had to step down into the tub and there were 2 faucets, a rain faucet and a handheld shower unit. While it looked very inviting, the rain shower only ran cold water (I asked about this and was told cold water only), so you are forced to use the hand-held shower head. If you want to sit under the hot stream without holding the hand held shower, you literally had to sit cross-legged in this sunken tub. On the last day, the brace for the hand held fell off so we were forced to use the hand-held to shower, making the whole experience not very relaxing. Maybe I'm being finicky, but I need a nice hot relaxing shower at the end of the day and this bathroom was not set up for it. I will go back to this hotel if I travel again to Chiang Mai, I'll just make sure I have a room with a regular shower and not the fancy sunken tub.
