Great Peaceful Stay”
My husband and I stayed at the Felix River Kwai Hotel for three days in March during a three week visit to Thailand. We were plesantly surprised with the large, beautiful grounds and rooms and we felt like we got a great deal. The hotel seemed very peaceful and it was a nice escape from the chaos of Bangkok. There are walkways along the river as well as a walkway to the nearby Bridge over the River Kwai. We walked over the bridge and visited the market on the other side. The hotel is walking distance to the Jeath Museum as well. Upon arriving in Kanchanaburi we took a tuk tuk to the hotel for 100 Baht. We checked in with no problems and got settled into our very large room near the pool. It seemed like we had the hotel to ourselves. We wanted to arrange a tour for that afternoon since we only had a few days in Kanchanburi, but the tour desk was not open. The desk is open in the morning and the evening. I ended up calling a tour company in town and arranging elephant trekking for that afternoon. There are three dinner restaurants and we ate at each of them. We were the only diners in The Good Earth restaurant as well as the floating restaurant on the river. The food was okay at all of them, nothing special, but nothing to complain about. We got dessert from the stand in the lobby and took it back to our room. We had trouble getting an Internet connection in the room, it was off and on. We used the pool, and again it felt like we had it to ourselves. We checked out and took the hotel shuttle back to town to get our ride back to Bangkok. The hotel shuttle was more expensive (200-400 Baht) than our tuk tuk. It is only about a 10 minute ride. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and wished we had arranged to stay longer. There is lots to do in the Kanchanaburi area, but many of the hotels similar to the Felix River Kwai seemed to be a long way from town.

A perfect holiday by the River Kwai”
We stayed at the Felix River Kwai Hotel for 12 nights with our 15 year old son. This is a little unusual as most people only stay for one or two nights to just visit the River Kwai bridge and the war cemetery. We had a fantastic time. The hotel was nice and quiet and the resort is built beside the river Kwai so there are beautiful views of the river. The resort stands in enormous grounds with fountains and fish pools. There are also two lovely swimming pools, two restaurants, a games room with a pool table and fitness/sauna. It only takes about 10 minutes to walk to the River Kwai bridge where you can walk into the town. During our stay we combined it with visiting attractions (Erawan Falls, Kayaking, Elephantsworld, Hellfire pass, temples and shopping) on some days and then chilled by the pool on others. The hotel offers transport into the town at the same cost as a local taxi. They also collected us and took us back to the airport at an additional cost. The staff were always helpful and friendly. Our room was a Deluxe River View which was lovely to be able to sit on the verandah in the evening watching the river and the sunset. We had a fantastic holiday and would love to be able to go back again. Although the room did have a musty smell and the furniture and bathroom is a little dated with a little need for 'tlc' it didn't detract from our enjoyment of the holiday.

Luxury Hotel Very Well Kept”
If you can splash out about 30 to 40 GBP, stay here. It is everything you expect in a luxurious hotel. Breakfast is a wide choice buffet. Rooms are lovely and the grounds are beautiful with waterfalls and water gardens everywhere...you won't be disappointed. Bridge on River Kwai you can literally see from the rear of the hotel. For 500 bhat on the hotel side underneath the bridge..get a local boatman to take you to visit 3 or 4 places. just the boat trip was excellent and with all the site visits it was marvellous. Eat at The Floating Restaurant..looks like 3 big brown huts floating on the water on the other side of the river. Ask for Raymond. Very nice food and reasonably priced. Staff and service at the hotel is great, they attend to all your needs immediately but hotel charges apply as usual for example in the restaurant during the evening you will pay service etc...but the food is excellent. Internet is 100 baht for 30 mins. The pools are gorgeous with fountains etc. We only stayed 3 days but we will certainly return to see all the other sights we missed. The war cemetary, bridge and museum are very dear to the Thai so please adhere to their requests to take NO pictures in the museum and don't walk the bridge after dark. Please do visit the Felix River Kwai Hotel you will love it.

A traditional old resort with all the trimmings.”
on our stay at the felix river kwai, we seemed to be the only people due to us going out of season. even though it was incredibly quite it was so relaxing. my friend and i had been travelling round south east asia back packing an this was our last stop, and we wanted a little bit of luxury. i was slightly worried about reading reviews were people were commenting saying "its very old and needs a re-ferb". well i disagree, yes its showing its age slightly but i was a refreshing change compared to all these brand new resorts. this felt like a home away from home. the gardens have grown in (but not over! well maintained) and the staff are very helpful. all in all a wonderful stay. a short walk from the river kwai bridge. great breakfast etc. if i had any pointers i would recommend strongly that they get new entertainment (not the dreadful singers!) when it came to entertainment at night this is truely where the hote showed its age! but as long as you make your own plans each night to go out, you'll be fine! enjoy

Eat River Kwai, Sleep River Kwai”
Kanchanaburi is a very large province so it would take a lot of time to travel between the attraction points scattering around this area. For my own experience, I was very happy to make a right choice to stay at the Felix River Kwai Hotel, because I loved to explore and shoot a huge amount of photos of the River Kwai Bridge, from early in the morning to late in the night. The hotel enabled me to approach the famous bridge in the great variety of angles that every photographer would love. It was old, but in good maintenance.

Great weekend getaway”
The restaurants and snack bar at the Felix River Kwai were great! Lots of family friendly options! Breakfasts were great as well! The pool is huge... the resort was well maintained and clean. Staff was very friendly. Only con was the location... seemed far removed from "town" where most of the restaurants, shops, museums were, however, it was just a short walk from River Kwai bridge. You can rent a taxi from the hotel for the day that will take you to any nearby locations (waterfalls, elephant camps, national parks) for a reasonable price. Overall, the resort was a great place, would definitely stay here again.

Great resort with friendly staff”
We spent a week at the Felix River Kwai Hotel, and hope to return in the near future for another relaxing vacation. The staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. We needed assistance in changing our booking, and the front desk personnel kept working with us until the problem was resolved. Although there were a few maintenance problems, the staff addressed them soon after being notified. Rooms were clean, the food in the restaurant was good...the breakfast buffet was complete with omelets to order as well as Asian style cuisine. And the pool was awesome. Being so close the "the bridge" was a bonus. We visited the market across the river several times. Felix River Kwai Hotel was a great choice for us, one that we will definitely return to.

Excellent resort. Perfect stay”
Felix river Kwai resort is an exceptional resort located right on the banks of the river Kwai with great views of the famous bridge. One feels so close to nature while staying at this resort. Yes, it’s a little old but I think that adds to its charm. I would recommend taking a river facing room. The fresh river breeze made for an amazing morning everyday during our stay. We just couldn’t resist going for a morning walk everyday along the riverbank inside the resort. The restaurants are amazing too and food was top notch.

Beautiful resort in fantastic location”
We had a great time at Felix River Kwai Hotel. It is just a 5min walk to the Bridge over the river Kwai and all the attractions of Kanchanaburi town. The resort is clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom is a good size and the view from our balcony was superb. The pool was huge and a perfect temperature after a long hot day. The staff were friendly and spoke quite good English. The restaurant served delicious food - although a little too spicy for our Aussie taste buds. Breakfast had a huge selection of all different sorts of foods, both Asian and Western choices. We would definitely recommend it to anyone, and would certainly stay there again.

Best location in Kanchanaburi”
This was our 4th stay at the Felix River Kwai Hotel during a 10 year period. We really love this hotel and always make sure to book a River Facing room. It's so peacefull and we enjoy our sundowners on the hotel balcony every evening. The gardens are beautiful and well kept and the hotel makes sure to regularly spray / fogg the garden in order to minimise mosquito problems. The swimming pool is huge and welcoming, but has seen better days. Needs a bit of maintainance. The hotel rooms are big and comfortable, but is now due a refurb. The bathrooms especially need a bit more modern equipment (hairdryer, shower etc). Breakfast at the hotel is fantastic - the food cannot be faulted. The hotel staff are also very friendly and keen to help. The hotel's location will always stay one of it's big plus points. It is very convenient to be able to walk from the hotel to the "bridge over the river kwai", cross it - dine on the other side of the river, and make your way back to the hotel by foot. (make sure to take a flash-light if returning in the dark). We'll be back.

Very Good Hotel”
Our stay at The Felix River Kwai Hotel was very, very good! The peace and quiet, the huge hotel grounds, and being right on the river, along with the very spacious and clean room(s), made our stay very pleasing, indeed! We opted to upgrade to a river view suite, and couldn't have been more satisfied. We had a car, too, which made it almost perfect. There are good restaurants close by, and the local food was good, also. One minor criticism was that the breakfast buffet could have been more extensive, and professional. Eating at the hotel in the evening was satisfactory, even good, but there was quite a wait for the food to arrive, even though there were just a few customers. Not very satisfying if you had small children with you. The hotel staff were very helpful, and solved every point that we applied to them. This was mainly in the form of touring around. There are two large swimming pools, and a floating barge restaurant. Give it 4 Stars,... "Yes"!

A nice, cool and Fantastic Stay”
It was a great experience to stay at Felix river Kwai Hotel. Beautifully built at wonderful location. Even if you are not planning to go out you can move around the resort and spend quite a day. The view at the bank of river is wonderful especially at sunset timing. The breakfast had a lot of veriety. Evening bar is a great experience. The only missing thing was the complementry tea in the room (which is rare for such quality hotel). The main attraction is very near infact at walking distance from hotel. Evening market is another great advantage. Over all an Excellent Place

Lovely grounds and service with a smil”
the hotel is right on river kwai, about 5-10 minutes walk to the river kwai bridge depending on how fast you can walk. they do a really good job keeping the ground manicured, and it's so peaceful and quiet, a wonderful getaway from bangkok. there are many chairs, benches, and swings along the river within the hotel ground. we walked across the bridge at night to have dinner one night without any problems. we had christmas eve dinner at felix which was mandatory with the stay. though we didn't like this "mandatory" idea but the dinner turned out to be really good. yes i agree with some reviews saying the hotel is showing its age but the room was very big, the bed comfortable and bathroom big and adequate as well. yes the internet was slow but for two days, we just tolerated it, since we went there to relax and having a cyber break was refreshing.

Felix Resort Kanchanaburi”
I enjoyed my stay at the Felix during April 2010. The staff were so friendly and courteous. The rooms and services were well maintained. The food services and quality were of a very high standard. The hotel is in an excellent location, set in gardens on the banks of the river Kwai. A most relaxing atmosphere throughout my stay. I will surely return on my next visit to Kanchanaburi. I would highly recommend this hotel to all who wish to visit.

Really Pleasant Place”
This resort is about 20 minutes from the bus station at Kanchanaburi. We arrived on the last day of Songkran. The staff were very nice. The grounds are beautiful, and our river view room was roomy and well decorated. While this place may not be the newest resort in town, it was a bargain at the $90 we paid for the night. It's about a 5 minute walk to the Bridge on the River Kwai, where you can cross and get to some local restaurants. They have a very nice buffet breakfast w/ Asian and Western options, including an omlette station, that was included with our room. They arranged for us to have a driver for an entire day to take us to Erawan and the Tiger Temple. If you want a resort experience, this place is great. I would not hesitate to return.

Beautiful hotel and surrounding”
If you like to see the woorld famous Bridge over the River Kwai, you have to go to Kanchanaburi, which is around 140 km far from Bangkok or nearly three hours by car. You may also take the train, which runs a bit more slowly. We booked the Felix River Kwai Hotel, which has been recommended by friends; and we were not dissapointed: a beautiful landscpe, nice rooms (we booked the River View de-Luxe) and a very helpful service. Within a few minutes you cross the bridge to reach the railway station.

Fantastic stay in Kanchanaburi”
Felix resort is a beautiful resort with a soul. The resort itself is massive with two areas that each has its own pool. If you choose river view rooms, you will be away from the families and have the most romantic, serene stay. The resort first seems like a typical “away from everything” kind of resort but it is just a short drive from the Main Street. We enjoyed our stay, the staff is highly professional and serviceminded, the breakfast banana cake is highly recommended. Best choice in Kanchanaburi, you get a lot of value for your money.
