Very impressed”
I was travelling with my sister and we were absolutely thrilled with every aspect of the hotel. Our room Was huge with everything we needed. Light and airy with great views. Location is superb. No public transport after a night out but rather a short stroll around the corner from the night bazaar.. The pool is big and clean with lots of comfy lounges and a gym. We didn't use the gym but many people did. The staff. were all helpful especially the room boy.. Breakfast consisted of a huge buffet in a big light filled room. Some Of the food was not to our liking and the dishes and selections were always the same during our 7 day stay. The fruit combinations were not good but all things considered the breakfast was excellent . We would not hesitate to stay at the Duangtawan hotel every time we are in Chiang Mai.

An Excellent Hotel”
As it was low season and I booked four nights' stay, Centara Duangtawan Hotel upgraded our room. Thank you very much! The room is huge and lavishly furnished with all necessary amenities and more, making our stay a most enjoyable one! The buffet breakfast was great too! The hotel is located close to the night bazaar and also within easy walking distance of the Old City and the wonderful Sunday Walking Street. We even walked to the Warorot Market. The fourth day of our stay was my birthday and the hotel had a birthday cake sent to our room. Thanks! I have already recommended the hotel to friends who are going to Chiang Mai soon and will recommend it to others too!

More than adequate ”
Some of the reviews on here seem to be pretty damning. I think people need to realise this isn't one of Centara's luxurious resorts which you'll find in Hua Hin or Phuket. It's an older hotel in Chiang Mai, but it is absolutely fine for a short stay and extremely well priced. Firstly, the location is 10/10, literally one minute from the Night Bazaar which is full of restaurants, bars and shops. Our room was very nice, recently refurbished with wooden floors, a flat screen TV and two huge windows over looking the mountain and city. The only downside would be the bathroom which seemed to still have slightly older fittings. I've seen some other reviewers say their room was not yet refurbished and still quite old, if that's the case then I'd recommend you request this before booking as I gather they are still in the process of upgrading the rooms. The facilities in the hotel are very good, the pool is perfect for an evening swim (a little cold though) and the gym is as good as you'll find in any hotel in South East Asia, certainly better than the gyms at the Centara in Hua Hin or Bangkok. Although it's in a slightly older surrounding the vast amount of equipment and free weights are brilliant. We had breakfast in the hotel every morning which was also very good. They have a huge selection of western and Asian dishes as well as fresh fruit, cereal and cakes. The staff were also extremely friendly and attentive. The only negatives I have to say are firstly the poor wifi in the rooms. I've had better wifi in hotels in Laos and Myanmar than they have there. You would expect better, but it wasn't a major issue. The elevators are also small and slow, as others have said you might have to miss a few at peak times as they're full. Other than that the hotel was great and I would definitely recommend it.

Nice hotel conveniently located”
Overall, it was a really nice stay at the Centara Duangtawan Hotel : my first stay at this hotel and should I return to Chiang Mai, not really my last one! I was upgraded a room called "Dynasty Deluxe", located on 20th floor and really loved it! The staff is very helpful, polite and nice. The breakfast is very rich, but, unfortunately, the dishes taken from the buffet were always cold. To conclude on a positive note, I would like to emphasize the nice location and the proximity of the night bazaar main street.

Always a pleasure”
Centara Duangtawan is always our go-to place in Chiang Mai when we visit. The check-in process is easy, staff is friendly, and the hotel is constantly managing and upgrading their rooms. Our primary reason for choosing the hotel is that it is just a block away from the Night-bazaar in one direction, a short tuk-tuk ride from the Sunday Night Market in the other direction, and close to some Western food if you need a break from the local cuisine. The other reason is that their pool is wonderful with a very lovely view, they offer a gym and a well-maintained steam room/dry sauna/hot tub/aerobics room. Also, be sure to spend the few extra dollars and get the breakfast included in your room. It's well worth it.

Great Hotel but Bathroom and toilet need upgrading”
centara duangtawan is located at the night bazaar of chiang mai, a prime spot for all types of travelers. the hotel itself s rather old but well maintained. except for the showers and bath. the shower stall is tiny and the shower very old and rusty. the bathroom door is old and sagging, with the wood warping from age and from contact with water. the gents locker is no exception. the showers over there are older than the ones in the rooms, with different taps for hot and cold water, which are not labelled. so one might turn on the hot water without realizing and burn oneself. other then the aged showers, the room itself is more than comfortable, 5 star standard almost. breakfast is great with a wide variety of food, both eastern and western. the malibu lounge downstairs has live singing til early hours of the morning, ideal for relaxing with a drink.

Great Satisfaction”
The Centara Duangtawan hotel was refurbished a few years ago and now is as good as new. This hotel has a great location and is 2 minutes walk to the night bazaar. You can take trips around Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai from the tours office inside the hotel at reasonable prices with your own guide at your own time! I have had a great experience staying at this hotel. I am sure to be back there again!

Centrara Duangtawan Hotel”
We Found the Centara Duangtawan Hotel in Chiang Mai to be one of the best hotels in Thailand available in this price range. The selection of food available for breakfast was second to none. A chef was available to cook an omelette to your personal taste, another to cook your choice of noodles, etc. The staff were excellent whether at reception, catering or maidservice. The hotel had an excellent swimming which both ourselves and our three children made great use of. The Duangtawan is ideally situated in the heart of Chiang Mai's busy shopping area with easy access to many eacellent restaurants. We will definately stay there again.

Best Hotel in Chiang Mai is even better with Agoda”
I have lived in Chiang Mai for 5 years and host many teams from abroad to come to Chiang Mai and environs. We have used many hotels in different price ranges and in different locations. In the future, I will only place our teams in the Duang Tawan. This is the best location, and when you go through Agoda the best price. The standard (superior) rooms are nicer that deluxe rooms in most hotels. As a long term traveler in Asia, it is common to find a friendly staff; howver finding a staff that has been trained by management to cater to the needs of tourists and who are able to communicate with tourists from a variety of Western and Asian countries is rare. On this visit I sprained my ankle and could not walk for a couple of days. The staff took me to a Western standard hospital and then returned to take me back to the hotel. The fitness center is excellent and so is the swimming pool. The breakfast bar is the best I have ever encountered in Asia, of America for that matter. The selection is excellent and the quality of the food is first-rate. The weekly dinner buffet in the hotel is a real deal. It is both Thai and International...all you can eat for 190 baht. There is also a Japanese buffet on the 2nd floor but we did not try it. The staff was very helpful. We check out tomorrow and the staff took our luggage and weighed it to ensure that we were within the limits of the airline. Very helpful. The hotel has DVD's for rent, I thought they were a little expensive, 400 baht per night. But, it you are purchasing DVD's in the night Bazzar, it would be good to view them first so that you could return bad copies before heading home.

Worn, old and lovable”
I know there are lots of comments about the hotel needing an update and it does. But I still love the place anyway. The staff is great, always friendly, professional, polite, kind and hardworking. They may be the best reason to stay here which I have numerous times. The breakfast buffet is very diverse having Asian, American/British and even Halal (Indian) choices to select from and the quality is good and consistent. The Wi-Fi problems seriously need to be addressed as at times it is unusable. When working, the response is fine, best in the morning and not in the afternoon. Be ready to use your phone's Wi-Fi Hotspot feature if Internet access is critical. The rooms are large which is nice. You do not feel too cramped. The in room bar has reasonable prices. There is plenty of hot water and the shower flow is good. The bathrooms are good sized. The staff will do special cleaning if you ask them. A tip never hurts. Sometimes the elevators have too many people trying to use them, like at checkout times and you have to wait for one with room. Great location, not just for the Night Bazaar but also for Pantip Plaza, nearby banks and great restaurants with very reasonable prices. There is close by night life if you want that. They are starting to remodel some parts of the hotel, I assume that will continue. Exercise area and pool is great. They also have a sauna and steam room. They have plenty of car/motorcycle parking which has an entry guard. I will likely continue to stay here when I visit Chiang Mai.

Great hotel and great location ”
We stayed at Duangtawan hotel for 4 nights. It was reasonably priced for the room we got. The location is fantastic, a 2 minute walk to the night bazaar markets. The room was very clean and spacious. The staff were friendly. There is a tourist information office in the hotel and we were able to book trips from here which was convenient. There are plenty of taxis and tuk tuks right outside the door that will take you anywhere and there is a 7/11 shop straight across from the hotel. The pool was large with plenty of sun loungers, however our only complaint was that the water was a little too cold for our liking. Overall we had a brilliant stay in Duangtawan and would definitely recommend it to friends and family in the future.

The Centara Duangtawan Hotel is ideally located near the night bazaar in Chiang Mai which affords great shopping and wonderful dining. Centara ”
The location of the Centara Duangtawan can not be beat. It is next to the Night Bazaar at a key intersection. Leave to the right from the hotel and you are at the Night Bazaar. Leave to the left from the hotel and you have night life. You will enjoy the breakfast buffet, which has a large variety of choices for all lifestyles, including vegetarian. The rooms were clean, and my room was on the 14th floor and had a beautiful view of Chiang Mai.
