Secret Exposed”
My wife and I had a wonderful 4 night stay at Banthai Village. It is a boutique hotel and the best way of describing our experience is "intimate". The rooms are fantastic - we were upgraded to a suite alongside the pool. Huge King size bed, spacious lounge area, well appointed bath area with large bath and shower - lovely touches with decor. A lovely outdoor dining area and bar - with a library above the bar overlooking the pool - are on one side of the pool; half a dozen loungers; tree surrounded. It was hard to believe we were in a city. The service from the staff is the very best we have experienced in our many years of travel - they seemed to anticipate our every need but were unobstrusive. In the late afternoon early evening students play traditional Thai musical instruments. Imagine lying on a sun-lounger as the sun sets, drink in hand served so beautifully, listening to the quiet tones of traditional music - sooooo realaxing. Actually the atmosphere at the hotel is so intimate and relaxing it is hard to venture outside it. Although there were others staying in the hotel it certainly at no stage felt crowded as resorts often do. The office staff are well informed and read your needs quickly - we found their advice accurate and very helpful. If you do venture out you will find the famous night market is a 5 min stroll away, restaurants alongside the river about 10 minutes - the Riverside is one worth a visit, the old village is a 3-5 minute walk in the other direction. There is a good laundry on the hotel doorstep and Tuktuks and taxis available outside. We have stayed in Chiang Mai on several occasions (and in Phuket many times) the Banthai Village surpasses everywhere we have stayed by miles. We will be back. A small warning DON'T be put off by the road entrance into Banthai Village - it is truely a hidden treasure like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

Beautiful, relaxed hotel and really friendly staff”
We had a great time at Banthai Village Hotel! The beautiful hotel is tucked away in a quiet area near Chiang Mai's old town. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the hotel has a good restaurant and bar. The rooms are clean, large and comfortable and of a high standard. Both the old and new towns are within walking distance of the hotel, and the airport is only a 15-20 min drive away (the hotel can organise a taxi give some notice) all of which make Banthai Village Hotel an ideal place to stay in Chiang Mai. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our family and friends.

A surprise treat hidden down Soi 3.”
The Banthai Village Hotel was not the usual type of hotel that i would stay in while traveling. I opted for something different and unique and this small hotel certainly delivered. The hotel is small (which is a plus) and tucked away down a small soi near the famous Chiang Mai night market (5-10 min walk). The architecture was traditional wooden building but very elegantly done with all rooms seemingly having a prime view onto the beautifully tended gardens and pool. Rooms were spacious enough, well designed (with a rustic antique Thai feel to them) and spotlessly clean. Staff were at all times helpful and courteous. The breakfast bar was somewhat basic, but the food was fresh and tasty. Overall, I left the Banthai Village feeling very satisfied with my stay there feeling that I would gladly stay there again. Surely there can be no better compliment to a hotel than to wish to return.

Absolutely wonderful”
I love this hotel & will definitely be back in a few months & stay in Banthai Village. Will recommend this hotel to friends who are planning to visit Chiang Mai. The staff are very friendly & are always willing to help you for directions to places you may want to go. One more good thing about this hotel is they could arrange a tour for you if you want to visit temples, elephant camp, garden, hilltribe villages & many more.. The only comment I have for this hotel for improvement are the mosquitos. Must think of a way to eliminate or at least lessen the presence of mosquitos. But overall I had a great time at Banthai Village!

Amazing experience Again, With A Bit Of Unhappines”
I also love my stay in Banthai Village and I am returning to this hotel for the 3rd time. The great experience begins when you arrive at the reception. Greeted with a lovely ice cold drink, the check-in process was fast and easy. Front desk staff will explain in details the popular areas in Chiang Mai, where to eat, shop, how to go to each destination etc. They will also offer what tour packages are available to see certain attractions in Chiang Mai. What has changed during this trip is that I realize Banthai have started to charge on small little things. Example, we will need to pay for a bucket of Ice, need to pay for calls made from the front desk etc. In my opinion, they could have lost their niche against their competitors within the same vicinity.

Exceptional”
We had a good stay at Banthai Village for about 15 days. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the place was kept clean everyday. We enjoyed our Thai style rooms. It was an oasis of come in the middle of bustling Chiang Mai and we always felt we were coming home after a day out walking back down the narrow streets to Banthai. We very much enjoyed the breakfasts served there, it had plenty of variety, fresh fruits, and importantly coffee. The planted areas and central courtyard with the dining area and swimming pool were wonderful. We found it to be a central location that was easy to launch our expeditions from. Definitely would stay there again should we come back to Chiang Mai.

Lovely hotel and great location.”
It was a very pleasant surprise to find the BanThai Village tucked away up a small soi in central Chiang Mai. It is small with traditional architectural accommodation blocks arranged around a landscaped courtyard where the swimming pool and bar/restaurant are located. We asked to change our room as the air conditioner didn't work very well and the staff were very accommodating and met our requests with a smile, moving our luggage when we went out to dine in the town. The staff are all very friendly and polite, speak perfect English and were very helpful. We had an early flight so they provided an excellent breakfast "box" as we had to leave before breakfast is served. The food is more than adequate and there is a well stocked bar at very reasonable prices. The rooms are comfortable but not luxurious but we didn't want International 5* rooms - we wanted something simple, comfortable and with a local flavour, which we got! I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Second time to Stay at this hotel”
This was my second time staying at Banthai Village and I would definitely stay there again. It's in a great location within Chiang Mai, walking distance to the Night Bazaar and various shops and dining along the main road. You can also walk to the Old City gate from the hotel. The room was fine, I traveled with my mother and we both enjoyed the hotel grounds, and the pool and breakfast. I will say this about my second visit to this hotel. While the room I had this time was fine, the bathroom situation was sub-par. Our toilet kept clogging and we were told not to throw paper in the toilet. I understand the system is weak throughout Thailand but at a hotel, to tell us not to throw paper in the toiled was unsatisfactory. Then our shower/tub was unique in itself. You had to step down into the tub and there were 2 faucets, a rain faucet and a handheld shower unit. While it looked very inviting, the rain shower only ran cold water (I asked about this and was told cold water only), so you are forced to use the hand-held shower head. If you want to sit under the hot stream without holding the hand held shower, you literally had to sit cross-legged in this sunken tub. On the last day, the brace for the hand held fell off so we were forced to use the hand-held to shower, making the whole experience not very relaxing. Maybe I'm being finicky, but I need a nice hot relaxing shower at the end of the day and this bathroom was not set up for it. I will go back to this hotel if I travel again to Chiang Mai, I'll just make sure I have a room with a regular shower and not the fancy sunken tub.

Banthai Village”
We truly enjoyed our stay at Banthai Village. The hotel was so beautiful and had a very intimate feel. It is located off a quiet side street, but is still within walking distance to many Chiang Mai attractions. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was very easy to book all of our excursions and tours through the hotel. We would definitely recommend Banthai Village.

Chiang Mai Oasis”
Banthai village was a great little escape in the city. The rooms were huge with high celing and beautifully furnished. They has a nice pool which is harder to find in city hotels. The stay was friendly and helpful and the hotel was central to everything, about a 5 minute walk to the night bazaar! We stayed there for 3 nights, but we would have liked to stay longer. This hotel is a gem, if you are staying in Chiang Mai this is a great place to stay.

Small but you can get all the things!”
Location is quite convenient, near the Night Market. The Receptionist is friendly and helpful. They always address your name. Free wifi is attractive enough for me to stay there again. The tub is big enough for two person laid inside. The decor of the whole hotel, rooms are quite nice. The bed is firm and can support the body. Air conditioner is cold enough. The smell of the rooms and linen made you feel relax, I like that smell! The room is spacious enough and I am sure if I will go to Chiangmai again, I will stay in Banthai Village Hotel again since the price, the quality, the service is up to the standard! Good!

Sublime”
The reception we received at Banthai Village was perfect after our long journey. The iced flannels and jasmine tea in beautiful surroundings were just what we needed. Our room was beautifully furnished with a charming balcony above the pool garden. We only stayed for one night as we were just passing through Chiang Mai, but the hotel was perfectly located for the Sunday market and the riverside restaurants.

A serene oasis in the heart of Chiang Mai”
I have nothing but great things to say about Banthai Village. The location was perfect to explore the city of Chiang Mai, the staff were outstanding, patient and always smiling. The design of the hotel really stood out from other hotels that we stayed at during our visit to Thailand: minimal, chic, modern - a perfect oasis in Chiang Mai. Cannot wait to come back.

We loved staying at Banthai Village. It was an adorable place with a wonderful staff who went out of their way to make sure we felt welcome. They were extremely helpful as we planned our daily activities around Chiang Mai. The room was great and the balcony overlooking the pool was very nice. Also, appreciated the wifi access in the rooms. The location is very close to the Old City and Night Bazaar as well as a local restaurants and massage spas.

Family fun in Chiang Mai”
Banthai Village Hotel is near the night markets. You can easily walk to many restaurants, bars, Muy Thai boxing matches, and the artesian market. The hotel itself is very beautiful and has a boutique feel. The breakfast is nice and includes fresh fruit, meat, cereal/toast, and egg options. Internet is fast and free. Hotel staff is helpful and friendly. Most speak good English. There are nice little nooks for reading or getting a group together to visit or play games. We enjoyed these spaces as we were multiple families traveling together. It was overall a very pleasant experience.

Nice place tucked away in Chiang Mai”
really enjoyed my stay at banthai village. it is a quaint little place tucked away in the soi's of chiang mai. lovely and relaxing. really quiet place but still walking distance to the action of the night markets and the old city. free computer and internet use and dvd and cd hire. overall a really positive experience with the only problem being a slight mix up our transfers to the airport after our check out.

if i ever return to chang mai, i will return to the banthai village hotel - the location is great, the staff very helpful and friendly and the room ideal. the hotel is tucked away from the main road - close enough reach by foot yet far enough to avoid the noise and hustle and bustle of the traffic. the ambience is lovely - a perfect place to retreat to after a long day exploring the city!

Great ambience, location and helpful cheery staff.”
Most experienced travellers will know within a few minutes off arriving at the reception desk whether their online choice of hotel has been a success or not---Banthai Village exceeded our expectations. It is an "oasis", a beautiful, cool, green, quiet welcome, and only a short hop into the buzz of Chiang Mai central. We had some hiccups to do with flights out: due to flooding etc in Bangkok, and the staff were magnificent in seamlessly providing solutions.

Best Location, Great Sanctury”
I have stayed in the Banthai Villages every year for the last 4 years. My wife is from Chiang Mai and we have stayed in amny places and areas. This is located perfectly, just around the corner from Thapae Gate off of a main Road but a quiet sanctury with a chilled and quiet vibe to relax. The staff are all nice and helpful. Whilst it may be possible to find slightly cheaper pleaces to stay with a similar vibe, the consistancy of this place is great. Yes the rooms are a little dark but this is a part of the relaxed quiet vibe.

Charming little Thai village”
I was travelling with my mom so I made a request in advance to give me a ground-floor room facing the pool. They were very quick to respond to my query and confirm availability. They were also helpful in arranging our transportation and tours, although the staff needs to be trained better on this (there is only 1 tour conceirge who is very knowledgeable about this, but goes home after 4pm). The location was also very convenient. It's in the middle of Chiang Mai that's close to the walled city, night bazaar, Warorot market and the main road. Comfort and space are also a big factor, but airconditioning needs to be repaired. And lastly, I loved the overall style of Banthai. It's very Thai, sleek, well-appointed furnitures and breezy despite the humid weather.
